Baltimore Ravens (0-0) at Philadelphia Eagles (0-0)
Line: Eagles by 3.

Thursday, 7:30 ET

The Game. Edge: None.
Outcomes of preseason games rarely have anything to do with the talent on the respective teams, since the majority of the games are played by second-, third- and fourth-stringers.

Some coaches care about winning preseason games, while others do not. Thus, betting on coaches with great preseason records is an easy way to make money.

Here are recent NFL Betting Trends: Preseason Records for every coach in the NFL.

***

John Harbaugh has the record advantage over Andy Reid, especially in Week 1 of preseason tilts. Harbaugh has never lost, while Reid is just 5-8. I went against the Eagles last year in Week 1, and came away with $300, as Jacksonville covered as three-point dogs.

MAJOR UPDATE: I'm going to scale back the Ravens pick and remove the Dolphins selection because of this article. This isn't a normal preseason, so I'd advise caution.

The Psychology. Edge: None.
No psychological edge found.

The Vegas. Edge: .
Vegas trends will be posted in the regular season.

SO I told you guys I liked three bowl games this season and tonight is one of the three.

    Louisiana Tech +9.5 (4 Units)

Comes down to a solid LA tech team that won its last seven games and come in with a ton of momentum. Line opened at 11/11.5 and has dropped a couple of points since then. Don't buy into the name I'll go with the line movement as it currently is and take the bulldogs in a close game. I've got a great feel for WAC games especially out of conference. I would monitor this line and see if it goes back up to 10, which I doubt, but obviously that hook can prove to be important. Anything above 8 I'd play for the 4 units.

    Good Luck everyone!!

Sweat Barometer picks stayed hot again last night to a tune of 4-1. Brings this season's early total to 13-3. Warning that this winning percentage is simply unsustainable so bet with caution or hope the streak continues......3 plays tonight.....

    Middle Tennessee State +2
    Iona -18
    Seton Hall +4.5......word......

.....also there's some creepy line movement in tonight's bowl game.....TCU has been getting about 70% of the betting action and opened as a 12.5 favorite....now they are only a 9.5 favorite....something's fishy....gonna sprinkle a small bet on L. Tech at +9.5.....

Walter you note the margins of victory for Mia and NE since the BB era started.

    quote:
    ***********************
NE by 7, NE by 3, NE by 12, NE by 14 (-12.5 favorite), MIA by 2, NE by 10, NE by 21 (-22 favorite), MIA by 25, NE by 10, NE by 31 (aforementioned quit game).

"AS YOU CAN SEE, MOST OF THESE GAMES WERE CLOSE"
    ************************

    Actually, no they weren't!!

You listed 10 games. ony 3 were within a 1 score game. 7 were double digit wins..

    How were most close?

Someone failed "Probability ans Statistics" class 101.

    @Walter
Your trends are skewed in the 49ers Seahawks game.
The one in favor of the 49ers holds true about 66% of the time. the trend against them is 67.4%.
But they are also over different time frames; the trend in favor is over 12 years and trend against spans 22 years.
You need to run them for the same duration to make a real comparison

Stoikpicks' been taking a big hit over the last 4 weeks. Like most bettors, he's lost HUGE, especially last week losing all of his medal picks. ouch!
He had a good streak, but, like in the casino, the longer you play, the house always wins.
