2026 Seattle Seahawks Offense:
There were members of the media who thought it was a mistake that the Seahawks replaced Geno Smith with Sam Darnold last offseason, with one incompetent ESPN talking head referring to Smith as a “top-10 quarterback.” It was the Seahawks who had the last laugh, however, as Darnold was able to pilot his new team to a Super Bowl victory.
Darnold will be challenged more this upcoming season, as he’ll be tasked to repeat without the guidance of his former offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who is now the head coach of the Raiders. Kubiak did a great job of putting Darnold in the best possible position to succeed, and now Darnold will have to replicate his 2025 season with an inexperienced offensive coordinator.
Darnold also lost his running back duo from a year ago. The Seahawks ran the ball well, but Kenneth Walker signed with the Chiefs, while Zach Charbonnet tore his ACL in January, so he won’t be available for the first half of the season. Seattle used its first-round pick on Jadarian Price, a rookie running back out of Notre Dame. Price is a talented runner, but won’t contribute much in the passing game. Newly signed Emanuel Wilson will be mixed in for work until Charbonnet returns.
Luckily for Darnold, his receiver corps and offensive line are intact. Jaxon Smith-Njigba deservedly won Offensive Player of the Year, and it’s possible he’ll do it again. However, Kubiak scripted many great plays for Smith-Njigba, so it’s fair to expect a bit of a regression this year. Cooper Kupp will also decline, thanks to age, but it’s possible that Rashid Shaheed will explode. Shaheed posted some great numbers with the Saints, but didn’t produce much offensively in Seattle. With a whole offseason to gel with Darnold, Shaheed could improve his numbers.
As for the offensive line, the unit received a major boost with Grey Zabel in the 2025 NFL Draft. Zabel had a monster rookie year at guard, and he could be even better in his second season. The Seahawks also had great play from their tackles, Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas. Cross was seen as a terrific blind-side protector entering 2025, but Lucas was known as an injury-prone player. Lucas responded with a Pro Bowl-caliber year.
Things aren’t perfect up front for the Seahawks. Center was a big liability, with Jalen Sundell struggling all year. Guard Anthony Bradford was even worse. Neither player was upgraded this offseason.
2026 Seattle Seahawks Defense:
The Seahawks have won a Super Bowl in each of the previous two decades. Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch were instrumental in their initial victory, but the identity of that team was defined by the amazing play of the Legion of Boom. Seattle’s defense lacked a nifty nickname this time, but ranked No. 1 defensive EPA. The Seahawks completely disrupted the Patriots offense in the Super Bowl.
Seattle will return all 11 starters, including the quartet that was responsible for the league’s top pressure rate. The Seahawks didn’t have a single player who recorded more than seven sacks in 2025, but they had four defensive linemen combine for 27 sacks. Leonard Williams, Uchenna Nwosu, and Byron Murphy all logged seven sacks, and there’s hope that the latter will improve because he’s only 23 years old. DeMarcus Lawrence, conversely, turned 34 this offseason, so there’s a very good chance that he’ll regress this upcoming year, especially following such a long season.
The Seahawks didn’t add much to their defense, but the primary veteran addition was Dante Fowler. The former Cowboy was a productive pass rusher as a part-time player, so perhaps he’ll be able to pick up some of the slack if Lawrence begins to decline. There’s also 25-year-old Derick Hall, who accumulated tons of quarterback pressures as someone who played about half the snaps each week, but didn’t have many sacks (2) to show for it.
Thanks to the devastating pass rush, Seattle’s secondary had a relatively easy time last year despite lacking a reliable starter opposite stellar cornerback Devon Witherspoon. The Seahawks rotated Josh Jobe and Tariq Woolen in that spot, and neither performed very well. Woolen is now with the Eagles, so Jobe will be a full-time starter unless third-round rookie Julian Neal impresses in training camp. There’s also second-year Nick Emmanwori, who had a great rookie campaign. Emmanwori is a natural safety, but he played some slot corner last year out of necessity.
Emmanwori can obviously play safety on a full-time basis, but the Seahawks have two other quality players at the position in Julian Love and Ty Okada. Love suffered an injury early in the season, and Okada took over and was a pleasant surprise. The Seahawks also used a second-round pick on Bud Clark, a talented prospect with some injury concerns.
Seattle was also strong at linebacker last year. It had two solid starters there in Drake Thomas and Ernest Jones. Thomas is a well-rounded player, while Jones specializes in run support. There’s also 2024 fourth-rounder Tyrice Knight, who gave the Seahawks some quality snaps.
2026 Seattle Seahawks Schedule and Intangibles:
The Seahawks had a tremendous home-field advantage when they were great last decade. The deafening noise at Qwest Field is why they were a ridiculous 49-12 as hosts over the past seven seasons prior to 2019. Oddly enough, the Seahawks have been far better on the road (28-14) than at home (23-22) in the past five seasons.
Jason Myers has been a great kicker over the years. He was superb once again in 2025, going 41-of-48, including 9-of-12 from 50-plus.
Michael Dickson finished second in net punting in 2022 and fourth in 2023. He was sixth in 2024, but “just” 15th in 2025.
Seattle was able to benefit from an easy schedule last year that featured every NFC South opponent. This year, the Seahawks will have to battle the Patriots, Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs, Bears, and Eagles.

NFL Draft Team Grade: B- Grade
Goals Entering the 2026 NFL Draft: The Seahawks have only four picks, so they will want to trade down to acquire more resources. They’ll need to find a running back to replace Kenneth Walker. They’ll also have to obtain a cornerback to replace Tariq Woolen and an edge rusher to give them a better chance of defeating Matthew Stafford again.
2026 NFL Draft Accomplishments: So much for trading down! The Seahawks remained at their natural selections in the first and second rounds, failing to acquire any extra draft capital until the third round, where they moved down a few spots to acquire a late-round selection.
As for the picks the Seahawks made, they found their replacement for Kenneth Walker at No. 32 in Jadarian Price and then selected the athletic Bud Clark at No. 64. Price is an explosive player, but the Seahawks surely could have moved down 10-15 spots to acquire him, and it’s not like they can say that they didn’t have any opportunities to do so because almost every team ahead of them was able to trade back. Meanwhile, Clark is very talented, but has some medical red flags. He was supposed to fall, but the Seahawks may not have gotten the memo.
Still, these are quality prospects Seattle acquired. They may have a lower floor than other prospects, but there’s also a high ceiling with them. The Seahawks also addressed some of their other needs later, though three of their picks starting at No. 99 earned a C+ or worse.
This draft was a mixed bag for the Seahawks, but at least they didn’t completely squander the weekend like the Rams and 49ers did.
NFL Draft Individual Grades:
32. Jadarian Price, RB, Notre Dame – B Grade
It’s disappointing that the Seahawks weren’t able to trade down because they had just four picks heading into the 2026 NFL Draft. However, this is definitely not a bad pick, as the Seahawks are obviously a Super Bowl contender, so it makes sense for them to use a first-round selection on a running back. Jadarian Price is an explosive running back who fills a huge need in the wake of Kenneth Walker’s departure and Zach Charbonnet’s injury.
64. Bud Clark, S, TCU – B Grade
It’s disappointing the Seahawks haven’t traded down because they have so few resources. Bud Clark is a decent pick though, as he’s a ball-hawking safety with great speed. The problem is that he has injury concerns, so Seattle’s medical staff better have gotten this one right.
99. Julian Neal, CB, Arkansas – C+ Grade
It’s nice that the Seahawks were able to trade down, finally. Julian Neal is a well-rounded cornerback with good size. It’s not a surprise that the Seahawks chose a player at the position, given that they lost Tariq Woolen. This is a bit early, but it’s fine.
148. Beau Stephens, G, Iowa – B+ Grade
Beau Stephens was a mauler in the running game for Iowa, so he’ll go well with Jadarian Price. Guard was a need, and I had Beau Stephens going eight picks earlier in my mock draft, so this is a solid selection.
199. Emmanuel Henderson, WR, Kansas – C- Grade
Emmanuel Henderson has great speed and can make big plays after the catch. He drops a ton of passes and doesn’t run good routes. I never had him in my mock draft, so I can’t say I’m a fan of this pick.
236. Andre Fuller, CB, Toledo – A- Grade
Andre Fuller is well built and fast, but is extremely raw. I like the Seahawks going for upside in the seventh round, especially with a prospect who fills a need and provides value as a sixth-round prospect.
242. Deven Eastern, DE/DT, Minnesota – B+ Grade
Deven Eastern has a massive frame and can play in both the 4-3 and 3-4. He had 2.5 sacks last year. The Seahawks needed to get some defensive line depth, so this is a fine pick, especially when considering that I had Eastern in the sixth round.
255. Michael Dansby, CB, Seahawks – C Grade
Michael Dansby is a small and frail cornerback. He played very well for Arizona, but I don’t think it’ll translate to the NFL. I didn’t have him in my top 400.
