2026 Los Angeles Rams Offense:
There was some speculation that Matthew Stafford would be traded last offseason. The Rams determined that such an action would be foolish, and they certainly made the correct decision. Stafford responded with an MVP season, nearly leading the Rams to the Super Bowl.
There was more quarterback drama this offseason, with the Rams using the 13th-overall pick on Ty Simpson. They could have obtained a very talented player to help them get over the hump and win another Super Bowl, but Simpson won’t be a factor this season unless he fills in for an injured Stafford. This was viewed as a huge blunder by the Rams, much like when the Packers cost themselves a Super Bowl victory by selecting “No Cookie” Jordan Love over the likes of Tee Higgins, Brandon Aiyuk, and Michael Pittman Jr.
Stafford, unlike Aaron Rodgers in 2020, has two elite weapons at receiver. Puka Nacua is arguably the best player at his position in the NFL, while Davante Adams was a touchdown machine in 2025. However, Nacua got into trouble for biting a woman this offseason, while Adams turns 34 in December, so he could regress. The Rams don’t have viable depth at receiver, but they have several talented tight ends, including second-round rookie Max Klare, the extremely athletic Terrance Ferguson, and the reliable Colby Parkinson.
If Stafford loses some receivers to injury, he’ll have to rely on his running back platoon. Kyren Williams and Blake Corum are talented runners and big fantasy football names, but both struggled in short-yardage situations last year. The scuttlebutt out of Los Angeles is that Corum will take on a 50-50 role with Williams this season.
Williams and Corum failing in short yardage was surprising, given that the Rams have a strong interior line. Steve Avila and Kevin Dotson are both excellent guards, with Dotson being especially terrific. Center Coleman Shelton was the weak link of the interior, but he’s still a fairly decent blocker.
The Rams’ tackle situation is a question mark. Alaric Jackson had a recent blood clot scare, but he had an outstanding 2025 campaign. However, he was arrested for domestic violence allegations. He won’t face charges, but this is the second time this has happened, so there could be a suspension looming. His bookend from last year, Rob Havenstein, played just seven games and went on to retire. This, however, was not very significant because Warren McClendon stepped in and was fantastic. He’ll take over as the Rams’ permanent right tackle.
2026 Los Angeles Rams Defense:
The Rams boasted the top-ranked offense in the NFL, but their defense wasn’t nearly as good. The defensive unit had many bright moments throughout the year, but struggled toward the end. Los Angeles’ defense finished 12th in EPA. Based on the moves made this offseason, it’ll be shocking if the Rams aren’t in the top five.
Some changes needed to be made for the Rams to approach the top five of defensive rankings, and they initially made those changes by acquiring two new cornerbacks. They obtained both of Kansas City’s starting corners, signing Jaylen Watson and then trading a late first-round pick for Trent McDuffie. Both cornerbacks will be huge upgrades over what the Rams possessed last year, giving them a chance to limit Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a change. The lone returning starter at the position is slot corner Quentin Lake, who was the top performer at the position for the Rams in 2025.
Watson and McDuffie are both incredibly talented, but they didn’t have any sort of pass-rushing support in Kansas City last year. That will certainly change in Los Angeles, given that the Rams have one of the best pass rushes in the league. The Rams shocked the league by trading for Myles Garrett on June 1. Garrett broke the single-season sack record with 23 last year, and he barely played with a lead. It’s possible that he could re-break his own sack record now that he’ll be playing from ahead in most of his games. Garrett will have a great bookend with Bryan Young, who logged 12 sacks last season. Josiah Stewart provided quality depth on the edge, recording three sacks while playing limited snaps.
The Rams will also able to create more pressure from their three-man front. Kobie Turner notched another seven sacks, while Braden Fiske regressed from his stellar rookie campaign with a three-sack season in 2025. Much more was expected out of Fiske, so perhaps he’ll rebound this upcoming season, especially now that he has Garrett to take attention away from the opposition. Turner and Fiske will flank Poona Ford, a monstrous run stuffer.
Moving to the middle of the Los Angeles defense, the Rams will continue to start Nate Landman and Omar Speights. Neither is a Pro Bowl-caliber talent, but both were solid players for the Rams in 2025. Landman played all three downs, while Speights was on the field for two-thirds of the snaps.
At safety, the Rams also dedicated resources to a top player. This time, they re-signed their own talent, giving Kamren Curl a $36 million contract. Curl performed at a high level last year, and he’ll once again start alongside Kamren Kitchens, a third-round pick from the 2024 NFL Draft, who has greatly outperformed his draft slot.
2026 Los Angeles Rams Schedule and Intangibles:
The Rams don’t have the best home-field advantage. They’re 50-27 as hosts since moving back to Los Angeles, but they’re not much worse at 50-33 on the road during the same span. In a crumbling city comprised of heavy traffic, high taxes, countless homeless people, diseases from the 1800s, and insufferable celebrities who think they know what’s best for everyone else, there aren’t many people who care about professional football.
The Rams had major kicking problems in 2023, so they spent a sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on Joshua Karty. It didn’t pan out, as Karty was eventually replaced by Harrison Mevis, who went 12-of-13 last year.
Ethan Evans was a seventh-round choice in 2023. He had one of the worst net-punting averages last year.
Los Angeles’ schedule is tougher this year. The team had the luxury of beating up on the NFC South last season, but that’s no longer the case. The Rams have some easy opponents like the Raiders and Buccaneers, but they also have to take on the Bills, Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs, Packers, and Eagles outside of the division.

2026 Los Angeles Rams Analysis: The Rams have a tougher schedule this year, but they’ll have a good chance of reaching the Super Bowl this time. Their offense is intact, while their defense received a huge boost with Myles Garrett and their two new talented cornerbacks. The Rams were arguably the best team in the NFL even before the Garrett trade, so they deserve to be the favorite to win Super Bowl LXI.

Goals Entering the 2026 NFL Draft: We know the Rams want another receiver because they tried to trade for A.J. Brown – and this was before Puka Nacua starting biting people. The Rams will likely use their first-round pick on a weapon for Matthew Stafford. Otherwise, they don’t have many needs. Linebacker and offensive line depth should be addressed.
2026 NFL Draft Accomplishments: The Rams made one of the dumbest draft picks in NFL history. They were considered favorites to win the Super Bowl in the betting markets, and they had the best draft asset of all the other top teams. This gave them a huge leg up, as a great pick would make them so much better than their top competitors. However, rather than helping the current roster, the Rams opted to make a move for the future, selecting Ty Simpson. This was a horrible decision because it could cost them a potential Super Bowl. And it’s not like Simpson is even a great prospect. He had just 15 collegiate starts and melted down against top defenses.
Some will point out that this was like the two Green Bay moves to land Aaron Rodgers and “No Cookie” Jordan Love, but they are not very similar. The Packers obtained Rodgers and Love as values in the 20s. Simpson, conversely, provided no value as a borderline first-round prospect who wasn’t even guaranteed a starting job if he returned to Alabama. It was utterly shocking to see the Rams make such a foolish decision.
The Rams had five other picks, and four of them scored B+ or better. A third-round selection was wasted on an old prospect in Keegan Trost, but Los Angeles still did well otherwise. Still, the Rams’ choice to capsize their Super Bowl aspirations dominates this grade, despite all the good the Rams did on Day 3. The Rams simply failed in their objective to give themselves the best chance to win this year.

NFL Draft Individual Grades:
13. Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama – WHAT BIG KIELBASAS MILLEN GRADE
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Sorry. This is one of the dumbest picks I’ve ever seen. The Rams are on the verge to win the Super Bowl right now. They needed the best player available to put them over the top. Instead, they selected a one-year starter who melted down in every big game. There’s a chance Simpson wouldn’t have been the starter at Alabama had he returned to school.
Some will compare this to the Packers drafting Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love, but the difference is that the Packers didn’t reach on them. They took those two quarterbacks, and Rodgers was a massive value. This is a huge reach. I can’t believe the Rams made what could be the dumbest selection in NFL history if it costs them a Super Bowl.
61. Max Klare, TE, Ohio State – B+ Grade
We’ve seen some tight end reaches in Round 2, but this isn’t one of them. Max Klare was a highly productive player at Ohio State. He’s athletic and has lots of upside. The Rams needed another pass-catcher, and they love their two- and three-tight end formations, so this pick certainly makes sense.
93. Keegan Trost, OT, Missouri – D- Grade
The Rams ruined Matthew Stafford’s late career, and now they’re going to try to get him killed with a late-round tackle with short arms who can be beaten by speed rushers. He’s also old for a prospect. The Rams are not having a good draft.
197. C.J. Daniels, WR, Miami – A- Grade
C.J. Daniels is a sure-handed receiver who runs great routes, but lacks explosion. The Rams had a rough start to this draft, but found a nice value here in the sixth round. I had Daniels going late in the fourth, so I’m a fan of this pick, especially because it fills a need.
232. Tim Keenan, DT, Alabama – A- Grade
Tim Keenan is a nose tackle who is solid in run support, but doesn’t generate much quarterback pressure. I had Keenan in the fifth round, so I like the value for the Rams, who are getting a player to shut down Seattle’s new running back.
