Penn State was able to skate by two bad playoff opponents, but the fun times end this weekend. Notre Dame has an incredible defense that should frustrate the overrated Drew Allar. Meanwhile, Abdul Carter figures to be out or limited, which will hinder Penn State’s defense.
FINAL THOUGHTS: There was a bit of sharp money on Notre Dame earlier in the week, but lots of pro action has come in on Penn State today. This might have to do with a report saying that Notre Dame is dealing with the flu. This is obviously not ideal and has me concerned with my pick. If I could redo it now, I’d take Penn State. I said on the After Dark Show that the college football champion would come down to the Oregon-Ohio State winner. Ohio State was incredible in that game. The Buckeyes would be regarded as a much better team had they not lost in a predictable flat spot versus Michigan, which looks much better now, by the way, after the Wolverines blasted Alabama. Texas, meanwhile, is lucky to have escaped against a pedestrian Arizona State team. This is a colossal mismatch.
