Navy (8-4) vs. Wake Forest (7-5)
Line: Wake Forest by 3.

Saturday, 11:00 AM ET

I don’t know what the motivation for Wake Forest is here. What do they care about playing Navy? Two years ago, Riley Skinner and the rest of the current seniors were playing in the Orange Winter Practice Game. Now, they’re kicking off the winter practice session in what is considered a minor winter practice game, even though all the winter practice games are exactly the same.

Navy typically gets up for these meaningless contests. They’ve covered their last four winter practice games, and they’re 7-3 against the spread in their previous 10 battles against the ACC.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Don’t watch this game or any other winter practice game! The only way we can get a playoff system is by making the greedy college presidents and conference commissioners lose money. We can do that by not watching this crap. Just follow the score on the computer. That’s what I’ll be doing. Remember, only you can save college football.

Prediction: Navy 27, Wake Forest 14
Navy +3 (3 Units) — Incorrect; -$330
Wake Forest 29, Navy 19

Fresno State (7-5) vs. Colorado State (6-6)
Line: Fresno State by 2.5.

Saturday, 2:30 ET

Fresno State had Winter Practice Series dreams at the beginning of the season, but they were crushed. Now, the Bulldogs have to play in this meaningless winter practice game, even though the Winter Practice Series is just as meaningless.

At any rate, Fresno State played Georgia Tech last year in their practice game, so what motivation could they have to battle craptastic Colorado State?

We also have a nice spread dynamic; with about 80 percent of the action on the Bulldogs, this line has dropped from -3 to -2.5.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP THOUGHTS: I don’t like either side in the Boise State-TCU matchup, but I thought it would be important to discuss because this is the first of two national championships in college football this year. If I had to choose, I’d lean toward Boise State to prove that they belong in the Winter Practice Series. Plus, they clinch a piece of the national championship with a victory, and could be the sole champs if Utah loses to Alabama.

Prediction: Colorado State 34, Fresno State 27
Colorado State +2.5 (1 Unit) — Correct; +$100
Colorado State 40, Fresno State 35

Memphis (6-6) at South Florida (7-5)
Line: South Florida by 12.5.

Saturday, 4:30 ET

South Florida expected to win the Big East this year. Instead, they have a matchup versus crappy Memphis. How can you possibly get up for that?

The Tigers, meanwhile, could improve their program with a win over a Big East foe. Besides, they stunk it up in last year’s winter practice game, and will be looking for redemption. It should be noted that Memphis almost beat Louisville this year, losing 35-28. South Florida isn’t much better.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Once again, I’d like to remind you – don’t watch this game or any other winter practice game. Only you can save college football.

Prediction: South Florida 28, Memphis 27
Memphis +12.5 (4 Units) — Incorrect; -$440
South Florida 41, Memphis 14

Notre Dame (6-6) at Hawaii (7-6)
Line: Notre Dame by 1.

Wednesday, 8:00 ET

This winter practice game will be held at Hawaii, for those of you who don’t know.

This meaningless contest actually means something to Hawaii. The team is under a new regime, and it needs all the quality wins it can get. You saw how hard they played against Cincinnati.

Meanwhile, the crappy Fighting Irish could be distracted by just being in Hawaii. They’re used to playing in more glamorous winter practice games. Battling the Rainbows isn’t exactly that exciting.

It should also be noted that Hawaii has won three of the four winter practice games that have been held in Hawaii.

The post-Christmas to New Years Eve winter practice game picks will be up Christmas morning. Happy holidays!

Prediction: Hawaii 31, Notre Dame 24
Hawaii +1 (2 Units) — Incorrect; -$220
Notre Dame 49, Hawaii 21
