Mississippi State at Kansas State.
Line: Mississippi State by 9.5.

Saturday, 12:00 p.m.

Kansas State, a team that just nearly lost to South Dakota, needs to be able to run the ball to stay competitive. I find that unlikely to happen in this game because Mississippi State has one of the top defensive lines in the country. With Nick Fitzgerald coming back from suspension, this should be an easy win for the visitor. This line is -8.5 and -9 in most places, but Bovada’s -9.5 -105 is most appealing, as the margin is unlikely to fall on nine.

College Football Pick: Mississippi State -9.5 -105 (2 Units) – Bovada — Correct; +$200

Arkansas State at Alabama.
Line: Alabama by 37.

Saturday, 3:30 p.m.

Alabama, under Nick Saban, has typically struggled to cover big spreads like this in meaningless games. I think a big reason for that has been middling quarterback play. That’s no longer the case for the Tide, as they finally have an elite quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa. Alabama should be able to beat this number because of him.

College Football Pick: Alabama -37 -105 (3 Units) – Bookmaker — Correct; +$300

USC at Stanford.
Line: Stanford by 6.

Saturday, 7:00 p.m.

USC may have beaten UNLV by 20-plus in the opener, but it was a tight game entering the fourth quarter. The Trojans aren’t as good as they were last year, while Stanford was so much better when it had K.J. Costello this past season, and I imagine that’ll continue to be the case.

College Football Pick: Stanford -6 -105 (2 Units) – Bookmaker — Correct; +$200

Penn State at Pittsburgh.
Line: Penn State by 9.

Saturday, 8:00 p.m.

I have no idea why Penn State is a top-10 team, and I’m an alumnus of the school. Saquon Barkley is gone, so the Nittany Lions aren’t as good as they were last year. This is a big-time rivalry, and I imagine Pittsburgh might be smelling blood after Penn State barely survived against Appalachian State at home this past weekend.

College Football Pick: Pittsburgh +9 -105 (2 Units) – Bovada — Incorrect; -$210

Michigan State at Arizona State.
Line: Michigan State by 6.5.

Monday, 8:00 p.m.

Unless an all-world quarterback is involved, football is usually won in the trenches. Michigan State struggled to both run block and pass protect against Utah State last week, and I doubt the team was looking ahead to this contest. Arizona State, conversely, registered nine sacks last weekend. Sure, the Sun Devils did this against UTSA, but nine sacks is nine sacks, and that number could be high again if the Spartan offensive line is as bad as we think it is.
