Texas-San Antonio vs. New Mexico.
Line: New Mexico by 7.5.
Saturday, 12:00 p.m.
As a disclaimer, don’t go nuts with my college football picks. I’m much better at picking NFL games (which is saying a lot). Follow @walterfootball for updates.
There’s a major talent disparity here, as New Mexico seems like the better tam across the board. The Lobos are also hot heading into bowl season, winning six of their previous seven, all while averaging 40 points per game. Texas-San Antonio surrendered 63 points to Lousiana Tech about a month ago, so I don’t know how they’re going to keep New Mexico off the scoreboard.

Houston vs. San Diego State.
Line: Houston by 4.
Saturday, 3:30 p.m.
San Diego State seems to match up well with a Houston team that was leaking oil down the stretch. Sure, the Cougars beat Louisville, but they lost to Memphis and barely snuck by Central Florida and Tulane. Making matters worse for Houston is that its head coach, Tom Herman, abandoned his team and players for a big pay day. I don’t mind him taking the Texas job, but he could’ve at least stuck around for the bowl game. What a disgrace. Herman will undoubtedly fail with the Longhorns.

Arkansas State vs. Central Florida.
Line: Central Florida by 6.
Saturday, 5:30 p.m.
The sharps are betting this line down, and for good reason. Arkansas State began the year 0-3, but has improved markedly, especially on defense. Central Florida has a one-dimensional offense, so Arkansas State’s superior stop unit should be able to handle the Knights’ simple scoring attack.
College Football Pick: Arkansas State +6 -115 (1 Unit) — Correct; +$100
Appalachian State vs. Toledo.
Line: Toledo by 1.
Saturday, 5:30 p.m.
Both teams have excellent running games and will attempt to establish themselves on the ground. Appalachian State has the better run defense and will force Toledo to throw, which the Rockets won’t have a problem with because Logan Woodside is a solid quarterback. However, Appalachian State is also terrific at defending the pass, securing 20 interceptions this year. Appalachian State has never won a bowl game, so I think this will be a big deal for them.
College Football Pick: Appalachian State +1 (1 Unit) — Correct; +$100
Southern Miss vs. Louisiana Lafayette.
Line: Southern Miss by 5.5.
Saturday, 9:00 p.m.
This spread has been steamed up from Southern Miss -2 to -5.5, and I think that has created some value with Louisiana-Lafayette. The Ragin’ Cajuns have the better running game and defense, so I think they’ll be able to keep this game close and stay within the number. They might even win outright.
