Temple (3-6) at Kent State (2-7)
Line: Temple by 1.
Wednesday, 8:00 ET
This is one of those situations I absolutely love. A live home public underdog, under the weeknight lights is seeing the line move its way despite action on the other side. Temple is getting about 70 percent of the action right now, yet the line has moved from -2.5 to -1.
Prediction: Kent State 27, Temple 17
Kent State +1 (5 Units) — Correct; +$500
Kent State 41, Temple 38
Cincinnati (7-2) at Louisville (5-4)
Line: Cincinnati by 3.5.
Friday, 8:00 ET
Same situation as the game above. With 85 percent of the action coming in on Cincinnati, the line has moved from -4 to -3.5.
Prediction: Louisville 31, Cincinnati 24
Louisville +3.5 (5 Units) — Incorrect; -$550
Cincinnati 28, Louisville 20
Indiana (3-7) at Penn State (9-1)
Line: Penn State by 36.
Saturday, 12:00 ET
Penn State will sleepwalk through this game. In the wake of its loss to Iowa, the Nittany Lions have no shot at the national title. Players seem to like dumb, meaningless contests like the Rose Winter Practice Game for some reason, but that pales in comparison to winning a national championship, even though it’s possible the title could be split four ways this year (Ball State, Utah and Boise State each getting a share).
Hey, if the regular season is a tournament, as stubborn playoff detractors boldly state, shouldn’t the undefeated teams be awarded a piece of the crown?
Prediction: Penn State 41, Indiana 21
Indiana +36 (3 Units) — Correct; +$300
Penn State 34, Indiana 7
Minnesota (7-3) at Wisconsin (5-5)
Line: Wisconsin by 14.
Saturday, 3:30 ET
Minnesota has been an epic failure the past two weeks, but I like its chances of covering this game. Wisconsin simply isn’t that good this year.
And besides, these two schools are arch rivals. They hate each other with a passion. Since 1997, there have been only two double-digit underdogs in this series. The dog covered in both instances.
Prediction: Wisconsin 27, Minnesota 24
Minnesota +14 (2 Units) — Correct; +$200
Wisconsin 35, Minnesota 32
Troy (6-3) at LSU (6-3)
Line: LSU by 18.5.
Saturday, 8:00 ET
A solid non-conference school scheduled in the middle of LSU’s schedule (thanks to the hurricane)? Nothing good can come of this.
Troy obviously has inferior talent in this matchup, but what’s the motivation for the Tigers here? First of all, they can’t qualify for the SEC Championship because Alabama is debacling everyone in its path. Secondly, what do they have to gain from beating a non-conference opponent?
Troy, meanwhile, will be playing this game like it’s the Super Bowl. Beating LSU on the road would be a major boost for their already impressive program.
If this game weren’t at night, I’d consider Troy as my November College Pick of the Month.
Prediction: LSU 24, Troy 20
Troy +18.5 (5 Units) — Correct; +$500
LSU 40, Troy 31
