South Florida (6-2) at Rutgers (6-2)
Line: South Florida by 1.
Thursday, 7:45 ET
It’s time for my crappy college picks! Don’t waste time with stocks, bonds and IRAs! Just fade my college picks and send your kids to college with the money you can win betting against me!
If you’ve been reading this site for a while, you know that I love these Thursday night home dogs. South Florida is favored some reason, and about 67 percent of the public is taking them. Yet, this line hasn’t moved off -1. I’ll take Rutgers.
Prediction: Rutgers 28, South Florida 20
Rutgers +1 (4 Units) — Correct; +$400
Michigan State (5-5) at Purdue (4-6)
Line: Michigan State by 3.
Saturday, 12:00 ET
Why in the world is Michigan State favored on the road against Purdue? These teams are pretty much even. The Boilermakers even knocked off Ohio State a few weeks ago.
With the public all over the Spartans, I’ll take the home dog.
Prediction: Purdue 27, Michigan State 24
Purdue +3 (2 Units) — Push; $0
Michigan (5-5) at Wisconsin (7-2)
Line: Wisconsin by 8.5.
Saturday, 12:00 ET
This is a huge game for Michigan. Not only do the Wolverines need to get out of a three-game losing streak; they need one more victory to become bowl-eligible (bowl games are stupid and meaningless, but the players think these winter practice games are important for some reason). If the Wolverines don’t win this Saturday, they’ll have to beat Ohio State. That’s not happening.
Meanwhile, if you look at all of Wisconsin’s 1-A games, they’ve won by more than eight points only once. I think this game goes down to the wire.
Prediction: Wisconsin 24, Michigan 23
Michigan +8.5 (3 Units) — Incorrect; -$330
Indiana (4-6) at Penn State (8-2)
Line: Penn State by 25.5.
Saturday, 12:00 ET
This is one of the most ridiculous lines I’ve ever seen. The most points Penn State has scored against a 1-A opponent this year is 35, so in theory, Indiana needs only 10 points in this contest to cover.
The Hoosiers are a feisty squad and I have to believe that they’ll hang around. The Nittany Lions just lost a big game to Ohio State and could be flat in an early home game.
Prediction: Penn State 27, Indiana 17
Indiana +25.5 (5 Units) — Correct; +$500
Iowa (9-1) at Ohio State (8-2)
Line: Ohio State by 17.
Saturday, 3:30 ET
This is my November College Football Pick of the Month.
Ohio State is on a roll. Ever since inexplicably losing to Purdue, the Buckeyes have beaten their opponents by an average margin of 31 points. With the crappy Rose Bowl (sponsored by Snickers) on the line, you know they’re going to bring it against Iowa.
The Hawkeyes, meanwhile, have to be reeling. They were 9-0 and looked like they were going to obtain their 10th victory of the season. Unfortunately, Ricky Stanzi suffered an injury, and all the backup quarterback could do was go 9-of-27 for 81 yards and a pick. I don’t know how a flat Iowa squad is going to score on the Buckeyes with its second-string quarterback in the game.
Traditionally, Ohio State clobbers Iowa. In their last two meetings, the Buckeyes have beaten Iowa by 21 and 25 points. I say Ohio State wins this game, improving to 6-1 against the spread as a host.
Prediction: Ohio State 34, Iowa 6
Ohio State -17 (7 Units – November College Football Pick of the Month) — Incorrect; -$770
