I love betting on live home dogs under the lights on national TV. Vanderbilt will be pumped up for this game. I feel like the Commodores and the Rebels are pretty even; my projected spread for this contest is Vanderbilt -2.5, so we’re getting good value with the host.

Purdue at Cincinnati
Line: Cincinnai by 10.5.

I don’t understand why this spread is so low; my projected line is Cincinnati -19. Perhaps it’s because former head coach Butch Jones has taken the Tennessee job, but still – the Bearcats are just so much better than crappy Purdue that I don’t think it matters who’s coaching them.

Northern Illinois at Iowa
Line: Iowa by 3.

I’m betting against another crappy Big Ten team here. Iowa stinks and should not be favored. Northern Illinois won’t be intimidated to play on the road at a Big Ten school, given that they took on Florida State in a bowl game last year. My projected spread for this game is Northern Illinois -6, so we’re getting great value with the visitor.

Oklahoma State vs. Mississippi State
Line: Oklahoma State by 12.5.

Oklahoma State should win this game easily; I have them as 20-point favorites over the Bulldogs. This contest is on a neutral field, but it’s in Houston, so the Cowboys should have more fans there.

Alabama vs. Virginia Tech
Line: Alabama by 19.

This spread is small as well; Alabama should be favored in the mid-20s. Virginia Tech isn’t a bad team, but the Tide should be able to take care of business.
