2025 Fantasy Football Busts (July 29):
This is a list of my top 2025 fantasy football busts – players you should avoid unless they fall far in your draft. The Average Draft Position (ADP) is found on DraftKings. Last year was a mixed bag of results. We were correct to avoid Nick Chubb, Rhamondre Stevenson, and Rachaad White. We whiffed on Derrick Henry and Mike Evans, however.

Anyone drafting Cooper Kupp in this range did not watch him last year. I wouldn’t even draft him in the 10th round. Kupp was so incredibly decrepit to close out the 2024 season that he barely played during the team’s victory over the Vikings in the playoffs, even before the game turned into a blowout. For the first time in Kupp’s career, he won’t be playing in a Sean McVay offense, and he won’t be catching passes throughout a full season from either Matthew Stafford or Jared Goff. His situation is a colossal downgrade, and he’s not even good anymore, so what in the world is he doing in the eighth round?

I loved Chris Godwin last year. He was playing the Cooper Kupp role in Liam Coen’s offense, and he was highly productive because of that until he suffered a season-ending injury in garbage time of a Monday night game. There’s no guarantee Godwin is 100 percent, and even if he is, he’ll likely be in a diminished role of a new system. The Buccaneers also drafted Emeka Egbuka in the first round, perhaps indicating that they don’t trust Godwin’s health. This was confirmed in a recent report citing that Godwin may not be ready for Week 1. It’s only July, and the Buccaneers don’t know if he’ll be available to start the season. This is a major red flag that echoes what transpired with Christian McCaffrey last year.

Tyreek Hill is not the same electric player he once was. He has lost a step, but there are other factors as to why he’s so high on this busts list. Miami’s offensive line is in shambles, so Hill won’t get as many opportunities downfield as he did prior to 2024. Tua Tagovailoa’s health is also a potential problem. And then there’s the fact that Hill could easily be in jail sometime soon. There’s no reason to draft him in the second round.

I highlighted Alvin Kamara in the Five Fantasy Football Players to Avoid Like the Plague in 2025:
In short, Kamara is an older player on a horrible team, so the Saints may lighten his workload in the fantasy playoffs.

I already didn’t like Stefon Diggs because he was coming off a torn ACL. It seems unlikely that Diggs will be 100 percent at any point this season, and even if he is, he’ll be a receiver in his 30s playing in a run-first offense. There have been positive reports about Diggs, but it seems as though he’s returning from injury too early.

Mike Evans has been a great receiver for a long time, but that may be coming to an end soon. Evans will turn 32 in August and has a history of hamstring injuries. Speed receivers turning 32 tend to regress rapidly.

I wrote this prior to the J.K. Dobbins signing. Despite Dobbins’ presence, Harvey’s ADP has gone down just one round. That makes no sense. He should be going eighth round.

Jerry Jeudy’s ADP is probably two rounds higher than it normally would be because of his performance against the Broncos on a Monday night late last year. Cleveland’s quarterbacking is a mess, and Jeudy has been inconsistent throughout his career.

I love Trey McBride’s talent, but his ADP is insane. Late second round/early third round for a tight end who didn’t score a touchdown until late December last year? Really!? McBride had a fourth-round ADP last year, so why did he move up two whole rounds when he couldn’t score? It doesn’t seem like the Cardinals utilize him properly, so why would anyone draft him so early, especially with there being so many values at the position?

I don’t hate Jonathan Taylor, but I think he’s going a bit too early. The Colts lost multiple offensive linemen this offseason, so Taylor’s blocking will be diminished.
