Northern Illinois at UMass.
Line: Northern Illinois by 23.5.

Saturday, 12:00 p.m.

As a disclaimer, don’t go nuts with my college football picks. I’m much better at picking NFL games (at least I used to be). Follow @walterfootball for updates.

I went with Northern Illinois to kick off last week’s college football picks, and I’m going to do the same thing here. My reasoning from Week 9: I love fading teams that aren’t competitive in the second half of the season, as the players usually quit.

UMass stinks. They lost at Buffalo two weeks ago, 32-3. They gave Western Michigan its first victory of the season last Saturday. I don’t see how they can possibly stay within striking distance of this dominant Northern Illinois squad.

College Football Pick: Northern Illinois -23.5 (3 Units) — Correct; +$300

Ohio State at Purdue.
Line: Ohio State by 31.5.

Saturday, 12:00 p.m.

Speaking of terrible teams, Purdue has lost to Nebraska, Northern Illinois and Wisconsin by the combined score of 140-41 in October. That’s pathetic. Ohio State broke out of its shell last week and beat the hell out of Penn State. The Buckeyes should roll easily over the Boilermakers.

College Football Pick: Ohio State -31.5 (3 Units) — Correct; +$300

New Mexico State at Louisiana-Lafayette.
Line: Louisiana-Lafayette by 31.5.

Saturday, 5:00 p.m.

I love picking solid teams coming off byes playing inferior competition. That’s exactly what’s happening here. The Cajuns are a decent squad, and they shouldn’t have any issues dispatching a New Mexico State team that recently lost at New Mexico, 66-17. New Mexico, by the way, has a 2-5 record!

College Football Pick: Louisiana-Lafayette -31.5 (3 Units) — Incorrect; -$330

Eastern Michigan at Toledo.
Line: Toledo by 31.

Saturday, 7:00 p.m.

Once again, I love fading teams that aren’t competitive in the second half of the season, as the players usually quit. Eastern Michigan has lost each of its previous five games by 25-plus. These players won’t be going on to the pros, so they’re just done with football right now.

College Football Pick: Toledo -31 (2 Units) — Correct; +$200

Miami at Florida State.
Line: Florida State by 22.

Saturday, 8:00 p.m.

This spread looks super high, but I don’t think these teams are close. Miami has barely gotten by two bad teams in Wake Forest and North Carolina recently. The only reason the Hurricanes are undefeated is because they’ve played a joke of a schedule. Florida State has been clobbering everyone, and I expect that to continue.

College Football Pick: Florida State -22 (2 Units) — Correct; +$200
