Auburn at Alabama.
Line: Alabama by 17.

Saturday, 3:30 p.m.

As a disclaimer, don’t go nuts with my college football picks. I’m much better at picking NFL games (which is saying a lot). Follow @walterfootball for updates.

Seventeen points may seem like a lot for the 13th-ranked team in the college football playoff poll – and yet, it’s not enough. I went against Auburn a couple of weeks ago, citing that they were overrated. The Tigers still are, and so Alabama should be able to win easily in the Iron Bowl. This game might be close for a while, but the Crimson Tide will eventually figure things out and win by 20-27 points.

Minnesota at Wisconsin.
Line: Wisconsin by 14.5.

Saturday, 3:30 p.m.

Some people whose handicapping skills I respect refuse to give Minnesota credit for its victories lately because it has beaten up on some of the poor Big Ten opponents. That might be true, but the Gophers managed to keep things close against Penn State, Iowa and Nebraska, losing those games by three, seven and seven points, respectively. Wisconsin is the better team here, obviously, but is favored by too many points. The Badgers have failed to beat Iowa, Nebraska and Northwestern by more than two touchdowns, and Minnesota is pretty close to that caliber.

Michigan State at Penn State.
Line: Penn State by 12.5.

Saturday, 3:30 p.m.

I’m a Penn State alumnus, and let me tell you, I am absolutely terrified of this game. Michigan State had been playing like complete garbage for most of the year, but the team has finally awakened, nearly knocking off Michigan and Ohio State over the past several weeks. Penn State, meanwhile, needed fluky special-teams stuff to defeat the Buckeyes and then a scoop-and-score at the very end to cover against Indiana. The Spartans will play the Nittany Lions closely and will have a good chance to pull the upset.

College Football Pick: Michigan State +12.5 (3 Units) — Incorrect; -$330

Utah at Colorado.
Line: Colorado by 10.

Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

I DVRed some games last Saturday because I was at my best friend’s wedding. Prior to watching Colorado-Washington State, I read a recap on a prominent site (can’t remember which one, but it might have been ESPN, CBS or SI) where the person writing about that game said Colorado had an “impressive” victory over the Cougars. Are you kidding me? Washington State led 24-21 late in the third quarter before it self-destructed! How is that impressive? Colorado looks good on paper, but it has squeaked by in some games recently, so in what appears to be the mirror matchup – Utah is built exactly the same way – I’m going to grab the double digits.

College Football Pick: Utah +10 (3 Units) — Correct; +$300

South Carolina at Clemson.
Line: Clemson by 24.

Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

Another opportunity to bet against Clemson? Awesome! The Tigers are overrated and have been poor against the spread this year as a result, owning a 4-6 ATS record. South Carolina, on the other hand, has been very competitive. The Gamecocks upset Tennessee and also stayed within two touchdowns of Florida and Texas A&M. Clemson is about on the same level as those two teams, so I like South Carolina to keep yet another game close.

Follow me @walterfootball to see if anything changes.

College Football Pick: South Carolina +24 (3 Units) — Incorrect; -$330
