2023 NFL Mock Re-Draft: Round 2

Last update: Friday, April 28, 2023.

This is a 2024 NFL Mock Re-Draft of Rounds 2 and 3 for Friday evening’s 2024 NFL Draft coverage. With all of the trades that will go down, I don’t expect to get many of these right – I nailed eight in my Re-Draft Rounds 2-3 in 2018 -, but it’s still fun to speculate where the top prospects will go on Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State Penn State

T.J. Watt’s return has bolstered Pittsburgh’s pass defense, but help is still needed at cornerback. Patrick Peterson was signed, but he’s obviously not a long-term answer.

The son of the former Steeler great is a 6-2 cornerback with high potential.

Arizona Cardinals: Brian Branch, CB/S, Alabama Alabama

It sounds like Budda Baker will be traded, so the Cardinals will need to find a new safety. Here’s one who can also fill the void at one of the corner spots.

Brian Branch has nice size and cover ability. He can play anywhere in the secondary.

Detroit Lions: Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame Notre Dame

The Lions have an obvious hole at tight end because they traded T.J. Hockenson.

The next NFL tight end to come out of Notre Dame, Michael Mayer murdered opponents with high production over the middle of the field.

Indianapolis Colts: Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia Georgia

The Colts lost Stephon Gilmore in a trade with the Cowboys this offseason. They’ll be looking to find a replacement early in the 2023 NFL Draft. They also need safety help, so they figure to draft some sort of defensive back on Day 2.

A huge cornerback with lots of upside, Kelee Ringo performed well in place of Tyson Campbell. He could drum up some interest late in the first round.

Los Angeles Rams: Dawand Jones, OT, Ohio State Ohio State

Charlie Campbell reported that the Rams would be targeting an offensive lineman if they still had their first-round draft choice.

Dawand Jones is a massive tackle who figures to have issues against speeed rushers.

Seattle Seahawks: Trenton Simpson, LB, Clemson Clemson

The Seahawks signed Bobby Wagner, but he’s just a short-term solution. They’ll need to find an answer for the long haul.

Trenton Simpson is a quick and ahtletic linebacker.

Las Vegas Raiders: Will Levis, QB, Kentucky Kentucky

Josh McDaniels told the media that he wants to find a quarterback of the future, so here he is. Will Levis’ slide finally ends.

Carolina Panthers: Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee Tennessee

Adam Thielen and D.J. Chark are not viable replacements for D.J. Moore. Bryce Young needs a dynamic No. 1 receiver.

Jalin Hyatt had a great season with lots of big plays for Tennessee.

New Orleans Saints: Keion White, DE, Georgia Tech Georgia Tech

The Saints should continue to bolster their defensive line, given how bad their pass rush was last year.

Keion White has nice size to go with his speed and athleticism.

Arizona Cardinals: Keeanu Benton, DT, Wisconsin Wisconsin

The Cardinals will acquire this pick if they trade with the Titans. They could use this selection to bolster their horrible defensive line, which lost J.J. Watt this offseason.

Keeanu Benton has a nice skill set and upside.

Green Bay Packers: Josh Downs, WR, North Carolina

I’m not breaking any news by telling you that the Packers need multiple receivers.

Josh Downs projects as a speedy slot receiver.

New York Jets: John Michael Schmitz, C, Minnesota Minnesota

The Jets want a new center, and they’ve shown interest in some prospects at the position.

John Michael Schmitz is a big, strong interior lineman, but has some athleticism concerns.

Atlanta Falcons: Adetomiwa Adebawore, DE/DT, Northwestern Northwestern

The Falcons must find a pass rusher in the first couple of rounds, given that they’ve maintained the worst pressure rate in the NFL over each of the past two seasons.

Adetomiwa Adebawore has some solid ability, but is a tweener. He posted Mario Williams- and J.J. Watt-type numbers at the combine.

Green Bay Packers: Sam LaPorta, TE, Iowa Iowa

The Packers could have taken Dalton Kincaid in the first round. Here’s their new weapon for No Cookie Jordan Love.

Sam LaPorta is a bit short for his position, but could be a quality receiving threat.

New England Patriots: Quan Martin, CB/S, Illinois Illinois

Bill Belichick loves his versatile defensive backs. He’ll need safety help with Devin McCourty retiring.

Quan Martin is a smooth athlete who can play anywhere in the secondary.

Washington Commanders: Tyler Steen, OT/G, Alabama Alabama

The Commanders brought in a whopping nine players in for top-30 visits, so they will almost certainly spend an early pick on a blocker to help Slingin’ Sammy Howell.

Tyler Steen did a great job on Bryce Young’s blind side after transferring from Vanderbilt.

Detroit Lions: Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee

The Lions would like a quarterback to develop for the future.

Hooker is a dual-threat quarterback enjoyed a great season for Tennessee. The top downside prior to his torn ACL was that he’ll turn 25 prior to the draft. The ACL is a concern for the short term, but not for the team drafting him in this situation.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Jaelyn Duncan, OT, Maryland Maryland

Mike Tomlin wants to fix the secondary. The front office desires to upgrade the offensive line. The Steelers can do both in the first couple of rounds.

Jaelyn Duncan “the Tall” is a team captain who showed some solid athleticism.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: B.J. Ojulari, DE/OLB, LSU LSU

The Buccaneers have brought in lots of pass rushers for top-30 visits.

B.J. Ojulari did a great job of taking over for the injured Ali Gaye in 2021.

Miami Dolphins: Steve Avila, C/G, TCU TCU

The Dolphins need to solidify their offensive line so that Tua Tagovailoa stays healthy for a change.

Steve Avila is a versatile lineman who can play center, guard and right tackle.

Seattle Seahawks: Cam Mitchell, CB/S, Northwestern Northwestern

The Seahawks lost Ryan Neal this offseason, which would explain why they brought in so many safeties for top-30 visits.

Cam Mitchell is an instinctive, phsyical cornerback with good size. He can also play safety.

Chicago Bears: Derick Hall, DE, Auburn Auburn

The Bears lost a ton of front-seven talent over the past couple of offseasons, so they really need help finding players who can get to the quarterback.

Derick Hall was a solid player at Auburn, but doesn’t have high potential for the NFL.

Los Angeles Chargers: Cam Smith, CB, South Carolina South Carolina

J.C. Jackson was a failure last year. The Chargers need another cornerback to contend with all the great passing teams in the AFC.

Cam Smith is a fast cornerback with long arms.

Detroit Lions: Gervon Dexter, DT, Florida Florida

The Lions had a great edge rush last year, but they could stand to add some talented defensive tackles to improve the interior pass rush.

Gervon Dexter is a lengthy defensive lineman with plus quickness and strength.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Tuli Tuipulotu, DE, USC USC

The Jaguars must focus on bolstering their pass rush and cornerback group to make sure they’re much better against the pass in 2023.

Tuli Tuipulotu used his explosion and twist to enjoy an incredible ’22 season.

New York Giants: Kendre Miller, RB, TCU TCU

The Giants have nothing behind Saquon Barkley, who is entering his contract year, so I expect them to draft a running back on Day 2.

Kendre Miller has great instincts and natural running ability.

Dallas Cowboys: Luke Musgrave, TE, Oregon State Oregon State

The Mazi Smith pick was a head-scratcher, but perhaps the Cowboys can get back on the right track by finding a starting tight end.

Scouts like Luke Musgrave even though he never produced much in college.

Buffalo Bills: Joe Tippman, C/G, Wisconsin Wisconsin

In Charlie’s mock draft, you can read about the Bills wanting to improve their play in the trenches. They signed some guards, but they can still use an upgrade at center.

Joe Tippman was great in pass protection and run blocking at Wisconsin. He can play both center and guard.

Cincinnati Bengals: D.J. Turner, CB, Michigan Michigan

The Bengals would love to land a cornerback like Emmanuel Forbes in the first round, but they may have to wait until the second frame to address the position.

D.J. Turner was the fastest cornerback at the combine.

Chicago Bears: Jonathan Mingo, WR, Ole Miss Mississippi

Despite the Bears trading for D.J. Moore and Chase Claypool, they’re still looking for an injection of talent into the position.

Jonathan Mingo is a huge receiver who runs great routes and can generate good yards after the catch.

Philadelphia Eagles: Matthew Bergeron, OT/G, Syracuse Syracuse

The Eagles need a guard to replace Isaac Seumalo because it doesn’t seem as though they’re comfortable with plugging Cam Jurgens into that spot. If they don’t draft Peter Skoronski at No. 10, they could obtain a guard at No. 30.

Matthew Bergeron played both tackle spots at Syracuse. He has quality size.

Kansas City Chiefs: O’Cyrus Torrence, G, Florida

Andy Reid loves bolstering the trenches. It should surprise no one if he drafts a mauler guard to help improve the blocking.

O’Cyrus Torrence is a huge interior blocker with surprising atleticism.
