2023 NFL Mock Re-Draft: Round 5

Last update: Saturday, April 29, 2023.
This is a 2023 NFL Mock Re-Draft of Rounds 4 and 5 for Saturday’s NFL Draft coverage. With all of the trades that will go down, I don’t expect to get many of these right, but it’s still fun to speculate where the top prospects will go on Day 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft.

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Dante Stills, DT, West Virginia
The Jaguars have been looking for a replacement for Calais Campbell for so long.

  2. Buffalo Bills: Xavier Hutchinson, WR, Iowa State Iowa State
Despite the Dalton Kincaid pick, the Bills still need to find a new receiver.

Xavier Hutchinson is a quality route-runner with solid hands.

  3. Indianapolis Colts: Charlie Thomas, LB, Georgia Tech Georgia Tech
The Colts lost Bobby Okereke, so they’ll need to find some more linebacker depth.

Charlie Thomas is undersized for the NFL. He may have to move to safety.

  4. Arizona Cardinals: Jeremy Banks, LB, Tennessee
The Cardinals signed Kyzir White, but they can stand to add competition at linebacker.

Jeremy Banks is a tackling machine, but he’s a bit undersized for the NFL.

  5. Cleveland Browns: Dawand Jones, OT, Ohio State Ohio State
The Browns have hosted several offensive linemen, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone if they address the area. Dawand Jones is a massive tackle who figures to have issues against speeed rushers.

  6. Indianapolis Colts: Jakorian Bennett, CB, Maryland Maryland
The Colts could stand to double up on cornerbacks in order to slow down Trevor Lawrence.

Jakorian Bennett was a steady corner for Maryland. He’ll probably have to play in the slot in the NFL.

  7. Cleveland Browns: Dee Winters, LB, TCU TCU
The Browns could stand to add multiple linebackers during the draft.

Dee Winters is a solid run defender who can stand to improve in coverage.

  8. New York Jets: Max Duggan, QB, TCU
The Jets may want to acquire a young quarterback to compete with Zach Wilson to be Aaron Rodgers’ potential successor.

Max Duggan is a smart and tough quarterback who has a better arm than people give him credit for.

  9. Las Vegas Raiders: Jay Ward, S, LSU LSU
The Raiders will be looking for more depth in their troublesome secondary.

Jay Ward made a good move from cornerback to safety.

  10. Carolina Panthers: Andrei Iosivas, WR, Princeton Princeton
The Panthers have a miserable receiving corps, so I have to believe that they’ll add multiple wideouts during the draft.

Andrei Iosivas has an impressive combination of size and speed.

  11. New Orleans Saints: Eli Ricks, CB, Alabama Alabama
The Saints need a better No. 2 cornerback across from Marshon Lattimore.

Eli Ricks is a 6-2 cornerback who had a breakout ’21 season for Alabama.

  12. Tennessee Titans: Charlie Jones, WR, Purdue Purdue
The Titans are really hurting at receiver outside of Treylon Burks.

Charlie Jones is a shifty route-runner with reliable hands.

  13. Chicago Bears: Kei’Trel Clark, CB, Louisville Louisville
The Bears have a thin group of corners, so they could easily double up on the position.

Kei’Trel Clark is a smaller corner, but has great cover ability.

  14. Green Bay Packers: Jordan Howden, S, Minnesota Minnesota
Darnell Savage has struggled, so the Packers figure to bring in someone to challenge him.

NFL evaluators have been impressed with Jordan Howden, though he hasn’t been overly productive at Minnesota.

  15. Washington Redskins: Nick Hampton, LB, Appalachian State Appalachian State
Losing Cole Holcomb will hurt, so the Redskins will need to obtain another linebacker.

Nick Hampton is a very versatile linebacker.

  16. Seattle Seahawks: Nick Herbig, DE/OLB, Wisconsin Wisconsin
Yet another edge rusher for the pass rushing-starved Seahawks.

Nick Herbig projects as a situational edge rusher, as he is undersized for a full-time role.

  17. Detroit Lions: Elijah Higgins, WR, Stanford Stanford
The Lions could be searching for another receiver to pair with Jameson Willams and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Elijah Higgins has nice speed and an ability to separate.

  18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Deuce Vaughn, RB, Kansas State Kansas State
The Buccaneers will be looking for a running back to pair with Rachaad White at some point.

Deuce Vaughn is an instinctive, elusive and quick runner.

  19. Seattle Seahawks: Jerrick Reed, S, New Mexico New Mexico
Here’s more help for Seattle’s secondary. The Seahawks have to deal with all of San Francisco’s weapons, so they’ll want as much defensive back help as possible.

  20. San Francisco 49ers: Roschon Johnson, RB, Texas
Kyle Shanahan loves drafting running backs, so the 49ers will be doing that at some point.

Roschon Johnson was blocked by Bijan Robinson, but is a solid NFL Draft prospect. He is a physical back.

  21. Los Angeles Chargers: Tiyon Evans, RB, Louisville Louisville
Austin Ekeler could be traded, so the Chargers should obtain a running back at some point.

Tiyon Evans missed some time with an undisclosed injury in ’22. He showed nice receiving ability at the combine.

  22. Baltimore Ravens: Brenton Cox, DE/OLB, Florida Florida
Having a better pass rush will obviously give the Ravens a better chance at beating Joe Burrow.

Brenton Cox has a nice skill set and plenty of athleticism and upside, but he comes with off-the-field issues.

  23. Minnesota Vikings: Rezjohn Wright, CB, Oregon State Oregon State
Given the Vikings’ problems at cornerback, it wouldn’t surprise me if they drafted three players at the position.

Rezjohn Wright is a big corner with good tape from Oregon State.

  24. Green Bay Packers: Ryan Hayes, G/OT, Michigan Michigan
The Packers could stand to find some help on the offensive line, and they may be interested in a versatile blocker.

Ryan Hayes struggled against Georgia in the ’22 college football semi-final, but did well the following year.

  25. Jacksonville Jaguars: Blake Freeland, OT, BYU BYU
Here’s another tackle for the Jaguars, just in case Cam Robinson is suspended for a while.

Blake Freeland has potential, but is raw and inconsistent at the moment.

  26. Los Angeles Rams: Jaray Jenkins, WR, LSU LSU
Allen Robinson is gone, but he needed to be upgraded anyway.

Jaray Jenkins is a tall and raw receiver with some potential.

  27. Indianapolis Colts: Jaren Hall, QB, BYU BYU
The Colts apparently are looking for a second quarterback on Day 3.

Jaren Hall is a rushing threat who has a quality arm.

  28. Cincinnati Bengals: Eric Gray, RB, Oklahoma Oklahoma
Samaje Perine is gone, so the Bengals will need another running back who can catch passes.

Eric Gray was a solid back with quality receiving skills at Oklahoma.

  29. Minnesota Vikings: Jarrick Bernard-Converse, CB, LSU LSU
As mentioned earlier, the Vikings could draft as many as three cornerbacks.

Jarrick Bernard-Converse has good size, quickness and athleicism.

  30. Chicago Bears: C.J. Johnson, WR, East Carolina East Carolina
The Bears could stand to add another receiver to help Justin Fields.

  31. Kansas City Chiefs: Josh Proctor, S, Ohio State Ohio State
The Chiefs lost Juan Thornhill this offseason, so they’ll need a new safety.

Josh Proctor missed most of the ’21 season with a fractured leg, but has great ability.

  32. Los Angeles Rams: Darrell Luter Jr., CB, South Alabama South Alabama
The Rams will be looking for a cornerback after trading Jalen Ramsey.

Darrell Luter produced at a small school, so he’ll need to prove that he can compete with the top prospects.

  33. Arizona Cardinals: Malik Knowles, WR, Kansas State Kansas State
It’s going to take two receivers to replace DeAndre Hopkins.

Malik Knowles has nice size for the NFL. Some NFL sources told Charlie Campbell that they like him.

  34. Dallas Cowboys: Sean Tucker, RB, Syracuse Syracuse
The Cowboys will need a new running back to pair with Tony Pollard, given Ezekiel Elliott’s departure.

Sean Tucker has three-down ability with plus instincts as a runer.

  35. New York Jets: Jason Taylor II, S, Oklahoma State
The Jets need to make sure they fix their safety situation, which is one of their few weaknesses.

Jason Taylor was one of the top performers at the combine among the safeties, both in the workout numbers and on-field drills.

  36. Los Angeles Rams: A.T. Perry, WR, Wake Forest Wake Forest
The Rams have an extremely thin receiving corps, so they could double up on the position.

A.T. Perry is a huge receiver who projects as an end-zone threat.

  37. New York Giants: Braeden Daniels, G, Utah Utah
The Giants need to keep improving their offensive line.

Braeden Daniels is strong, but seems to lack the athleticism to play tackle in the NFL.

  38. San Francisco 49ers: Kayshon Boutte, WR, LSU LSU
The 49ers can afford to take a chance on a player who could upgrade their receiving corps.

Kayshon Boutte had gotten rave reviews for his speed and athleticism. He had a huge game versus Georgia at the end of the year. He initially said that he will be returning to LSU, but he then changed his mind and declared for the 2023 NFL Draft. However, he really struggled at the combine.

  39. Las Vegas Raiders: Anthony Bradford, G/OT, LSU
The Raiders have yet to address their pedestrian offensive line, which seems like a big mistake.

Anthony Bradford was a huge winner at the combine, looking smooth in the drills.

  40. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Lance Boykin, CB, Coastal Carolina Coastal Carolina
The Buccaneers don’t have much depth at cornerback, so they’ll have to draft at least one at some point.

Lance Boykin is a huge cornerback. He may have to move to safety.

  41. Indianapolis Colts: T.J. Luther, WR, Gardner-Webb
The Colts could stand to add another receiver to help Anthony Richardson.

  42. Los Angeles Rams: Owen Pappoe, LB, Auburn
The Rams lost Bobby Wagner, so they’ll need to obtain a linebacker at some point.

Owen Pappoe has a dubious injury history, though he remained healthy last year and performed well.
