2026 Jacksonville Jaguars Offense:
Trevor Lawrence was largely viewed as a big disappointment heading into 2025. He was regarded as the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck when he declared for the 2021 NFL Draft, but outside of a great final stretch in 2022, Lawrence had mostly underwhelmed throughout his professional career. It appeared as though Lawrence would continue to disappoint when the Jaguars averaged a mere 20.9 points per game prior to their Week 8 bye. However, things completely flipped following the idle week. Beginning in Week 9, the Jaguars averaged 32 points per game for the rest of the season.
This was a shocking turnaround, but there were signs that it would occur. Lawrence began the year relying on Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter as his top receivers, but they were huge liabilities. Thomas dropped everything in sight, while Hunter didn’t know where to line up because he spent so much time during the week preparing to play at cornerback as well. The Jaguars correctly determined that they needed to make a change, so they traded for the reliable Jakobi Meyers and then used Parker Washington in the slot. Lawrence had so much more success utilizing Meyers and Washington, as well as tight end Brenton Strange, who returned from injury to serve as a viable intermediate target.
Meyers, Washington, and Strange will all return in the same roles, though Lawrence did lose one of his playmakers. That would be Travis Etienne, who signed with the Saints in free agency. Etienne, however, was also seen as a first-round bust prior to 2025, especially after he was benched in favor of Tank Bigsby during the prior year. Head coach Liam Coen is known to turn water into wine with his running backs, so perhaps Bhyashul Tuten or Chris Rodriguez will emerge as a potent threat out of the backfield.
Of course, it helped Lawrence immensely that his offensive line protected him very well. Cole Van Lanen emerged as a terrific blind-side protector, while right tackle Anton Harrison developed well since a rough rookie campaign in 2023. Jacksonville’s tackle play prior to 2025 was sketchy, so the improvement of the edge blocking is another reason why Lawrence was able to make a big leap this past season.
Jacksonville’s interior blocking isn’t as good, but it wasn’t a weak point either. Center Robert Hainsey followed Coen from Tampa Bay to Jacksonville and performed well in his new home. Left guard Ezra Cleveland also had a quality season. The weak link was right guard Patrick Mekari. The Jaguars used a third-round pick on Emmanuel Pregnon to challenge for the job.
2026 Jacksonville Jaguars Defense:
The Jaguars lost a primary playmaker on offense, but they’ll be able to survive without him. Jacksonville also lost some dynamic players on defense, but their shoes won’t be so easy to fill.
The best player to depart from Jacksonville’s defense was Devin Lloyd. The extremely talented linebacker signed with the Panthers this offseason, which would indicate that there will be a gaping hole in Jacksonville’s defense. However, that’s not the case. Ventrell Miller and Foyesade Oluokun will be the primary linebackers this season, and both played very well last year. Oluokun was excellent in both run support and pass coverage. Miller performed well against the run, albeit on a limited snap count. Miller could have issues in an expanded role, but he’s a young player who could continue to develop.
Greg Newsome was another significant departure. The Jaguars traded for Newsome during the 2025 season, but he’s now on the Giants. Jacksonville’s new No. 1 cornerback will be Travis Hunter, who will focus exclusively on defense as opposed to rotating between cornerback and receiver, which is what he did as a rookie. Montaric Brown, who has developed incredibly well as a former seventh-round pick, will start opposite of Hunter. Jourdan Lewis, a solid nickel, will be the other starter at cornerback.
The Jaguars are also strong at safety, primarily with Antonio Johnson, a recent fifth-round pick who has emerged as one of the best players at his position in the NFL. The other starter, Eric Murray, isn’t nearly as good, but isn’t quite a liability either. Third-round rookie Jalen Huskey could challenge Murray for playing time.
Aiding the secondary is a pass rush that was highly effective in 2025. Josh Hines-Allen logged a ridiculous 95 quarterback pressures, tallying eight sacks in the process. Arik Armstead added 5.5 sacks, while Travon Walker chipped in with 3.5. Though Walker’s sack total was low, he was able to generate 42 quarterback pressures. Jacksonville added fourth-round rookie Wesley Williams for depth purposes.
The Jaguars spent another mid-round selection on a defensive lineman, picking up Albert Regis in the third frame. This filled a need, as Armstead is the only quality defensive tackle on the roster. DaVon Hamilton, who is coming off a pedestrian season, is slated to start next to Armstead.
2026 Jacksonville Jaguars Schedule and Intangibles:
Jacksonville’s hot and humid climate contributed to its outstanding 83-53 home record from 1995 to 2011. They were up and down since then, but may have reestablished their home-field advantage by going 7-2 as hosts in Liam Coen’s first year with the team.
The Jaguars had kicking woes in 2023, prompting them to use a sixth-round pick on Cam Little. The young kicker rewarded them by going 27-of-29, including 5-of-6 from 50-plus. He was 30-of-34 in 2025, including 8-of-10 from 50-plus.
Logan Cooke has been ranked first, sixth, first, sixth, seventh, second, and ninth in net average over the past seven seasons. He also did a great job of pinning teams inside the 20. It’s quite the relief, given that this franchise once selected a punter over Russell Wilson but has finally figured out the position.
The Jaguars have some tough games on the slate. They have to battle the Broncos, Patriots, Ravens, Bengals, and Bears. There are some easier opponents as well, but not nearly as many as difficult ones.

NFL Draft Team Grade: MILLEN Grade
Goals Entering the 2026 NFL Draft: Charlie Campbell reported that the Jaguars plan on bolstering their defensive line, which is a good decision, considering that they have to slay the likes of Josh Allen if they are to advance deep into the playoffs. They don’t have a first-round pick, but they have five selections in the top 124, so they can have an impactful draft class.
2026 NFL Draft Accomplishments: James Gladstone should consider a different occupation. A year ago, he made an insanely dumb trade to move up for Travis Hunter, and yet that was better than what we saw out of him in this draft class.
The Jaguars, as mentioned, had plenty of draft capital in the first four rounds despite not owning an opening-round selection. Their first pick was No. 56, and yet they selected a sixth-round tight end in Nate Boerkircher. Their next pick, No. 81, was used on Albert Regis, who wasn’t even in my mock draft. There were other horrific selections, including Jalen Huskey, a UDFA-type player chosen at the very end of Round 3.
It wasn’t all negative for the Jaguars because I enjoyed the Emmanuel Pregnon selection, though I’m now doubting myself about evaluating Pregnon highly because Gladstone drafted him. Either way, Pregnon isn’t enough to prevent Jacksonville from receiving the dreaded Millen (F) grade.
NFL Draft Individual Grades:
56. Nate Boerkicher, TE, Texas A&M – 20016 DRAFT KIELBASA MILLEN GRADE
Whoooaaaaa, what in the world is this pick? I had Nate Boerkircher in the sixth round. He’s a great blocker, but he’s not much of a receiver. Worst of all, he’s 25. The Jaguars could have gotten this guy on Saturday. What are they doing!?
81. Albert Regis, DT, Texas A&M – MILLEN Grade
Ladies and gentlemen, the first player taken who wasn’t in my mock draft. Albert Regis is a quick and disruptive defensive tackle, but is undersized and doesn’t have many pass-rushing moves. This was a puzzling pick.
88. Emmanuel Pregnon, G, Oregon – A+ Grade
What a steal! The Jaguars screwed up with some of their earlier picks, but they made up for it with Emmanuel Pregnon, who easily could have been chosen in the second round. Protecting Trevor Lawrence is obviously extremely important, so getting someone like Pregnon at this spot is a great move.
100. Jalen Huskey, S, Maryland – D Grade
Jalen Huskey is a lengthy safety with ballhawking skills, but he’s slow and frail. He’s not someone I ever had in my mock draft. The Jaguars could have gotten him or someone similar in the midde of Day 3, so this was a poor pick.
119. Wesley Williams, DE, Duke – C+ Grade
This pick is not only for defense – the Jaguars had to add pass-rushing depth – but it’s also for special teams. Wesley Williams lacks length, but makes up for it with a high motor. He has a knack for blocking kicks. I thought Williams was more of a sixth-round prospect, so this is a bit of a reach.
164. Tanner Koziol, TE, Houston – B Grade
Tanner Koziol was a highly productive receiving tight end. He has great mismatch height to be an end zone threat. Koziol is a fine pick for the Jaguars, who wanted to draft another tight end to run more multi-tight end formations.
191. Josh Cameron, WR, Baylor – B Grade
Josh Cameron is a big-bodied receiver with sure hands, but has speed concerns. He’ll likely have trouble getting open in the NFL, but we’ll have to see what Liam Coen can do with him. I had Cameron going around this range.
203. C.J. Williams, WR, Stanford – B Grade
Another receiver makes sense for the Jaguars if they intend on moving Travis Hunter to cornerback. C.J. Williams is a sure-handed speedy receiver. This is a fine pick for Jacksonville.
233. Zach Durfee, DE, Washington – B Grade
Zach Durfee is very raw, but extremely athletic. It’s good that the Jaguars are swinging for the fences with a position of need (as far as depth is concerned).
240. Parker Hughes, LB, Middle Tennessee State – C Grade
Parker Hughes is a speedy linebacker, but is very raw and doesn’t diagnose plays well. I didn’t have him as a draftable prospect.
