*** This mock draft will be updated at least once per week (Tuesday afternoons and other times for important events.). Check out old versions of this 2014 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock draft section. Follow @walterfootball for updates. ***

  1. Houston Texans: Louis Nix, NT, Notre Dame
Most expect the Texans to take a quarterback (Teddy Bridgewater) here, but as Charlie Campbell reported in the NFL Draft Rumor Mill, Houston is considering waiting until Round 3 for a signal-caller because it believes a first-round talent will fall to No. 33. Such a player could be Louis Nix, who would fill a need. The Texans don’t have anything at nose tackle.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

Pick change; previously Teddy Bridgewater, QB

  2. Washington Redskins: Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia
Right tackle Tyler Polumbus will be a free agent after this season, so the Redskins may want to add a potential replacement. As noted on the NFL Draft Rumors page, Tony Pauline reported that Morgan Moses won’t fall beyond Washington at No. 34.

  3. Cleveland Browns: Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt
The Browns had tremendous problems at receiver this past season outside of Josh Gordon. Greg “Mr. Dependable” Little continued to struggle, while Davone Bess was even worse. If Cleveland doesn’t go with Sammy Watkins at No. 4 overall, another receiver will definitely be in play at Nos. 26 and 35.

Pick change; previously Allen Robinson, WR

  4. Oakland Raiders: Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State
I have a feeling Timmy Jernigan will fall during the draft for multiple reasons. If that happens, the Raiders will be more than happy to take him at this juncture, as he would strengthen a weak group of defensive tackles.

  5. Atlanta Falcons: Dee Ford, DE/OLB, Auburn
If the Falcons can’t obtain Jadeveon Clowney or Khalil Mack in the first round, they’ll almost certainly draft a pass-rusher here. Dee Ford fits what Thomas Dimitroff looks for in a prospect. I’m sure Mike Smith would love to have Ford on his team after the Auburn pass-rusher destroyed his offense at the Senior Bowl.

  6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Martavis Bryant, WR, Clemson
The Buccaneers would love for Sammy Watkins to fall to them at No. 7, but there’s not much of a chance of that happening. They could also take Mike Evans as a solid consolation prize. If, however, they go with the quarterback route, they may opt to address the receiver position in the second round.

Pick change; previously Jordan Matthews, WR

  7. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Eastern Illinois
The Jaguars have to take a quarterback early for obvious reasons. As mentioned earlier, there have been reports indicating that Jacksonville wants to draft Jimmy Garoppolo in the second round.

  8. Minnesota Vikings: Demarcus Lawrence, DE/OLB, Boise State
The Vikings want a pass-rushing linebacker to fit Mike Zimmer’s scheme. There’s a chance they could take Anthony Barr at No. 8 to fill that need. If they go quarterback instead, someone like Demarcus Lawrence would be in play near the top of Round 2.

Pick change; previously Louis Nix, NT

  9. Buffalo Bills: Troy Niklas, TE, Notre Dame
The Bills have to add play-makers around E.J. Manuel, who needs all the help he can get. The tight end position definitely needs to be upgraded.

  10. Tennessee Titans: Jeremy Hill, RB, LSU
The Titans have gotten rid of Chris Johnson, who was signed by the Jets (go here for my NFL Free Agent Signing Grades). Tennessee will obviously be searching for a new lead running back.

  11. New York Giants: Dominique Easley, DT, Florida
These were the defensive tackles on the Giants’ depth chart before they re-signed Mike Patterson: Cullen Jenkins, Johnathan Hankins and Markus Kuhn. Think the team needs an upgrade at the position after losing Linval Joseph to the Vikings?

Pick change; previously Demarcus Lawrence, DE

  12. St. Louis Rams: JaWuan James, OT, Tennessee
The Rams may not go with a lineman in the first round. If not, they can definitely take one here. JaWuan James has received some first-round grades from teams, and he happens to be a good fit for St. Louis’ offense.

  13. Detroit Lions: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington
I had the Lions taking Eric Ebron in Tuesday’s mock draft update. They could wait until Round 2 to grab an upgrade at tight end, and one such player they’ve shown interest in is Austin Seferian-Jenkins.

Pick change; previously Cody Latimer, WR

  14. Pittsburgh Steelers: Stephon Tuitt, DE/DT, Notre Dame
The Steelers lost Ziggy Hood and Al Woods in free agency. Neither was an impactful player, but the team is severely lacking in depth up front. Stephon Tuitt qualifies as best player available.

  15. Dallas Cowboys: Scott Crichton, DE, Oregon State
The Cowboys managed to re-sign Anthony Spencer, but they’re still in desperate need of help at both defensive end and defensive tackle. Scott Crichton is a great fit for Monte Kiffin’s stop unit.

  16. Baltimore Ravens: Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State
Baltimore added Steve Smith, which I thought was an awful move (go here for my NFL Free Agent Grades), but regardless of my opinion, the Ravens are still in the market for a long-term No. 2 option for Joe Flacco.

Pick change; previously Cyrus Kouandjio, OT

  17. New York Jets: Lamarcus Joyner, CB/S, Florida State
Poor Rex Ryan is frustrated that his team whiffed on all of the top cornerbacks (things got very bad for him in the April Fools Mock Draft). The Jets will have to address the position early in the draft.

Pick change; previously Paul Richardson, WR

  18. Miami Dolphins: Chris Borland, ILB, Wisconsin
The Dolphins are in the market for a new middle linebacker, as Dannell Ellerbe predictably struggled this past season. Miami’s new front office has no allegiance to Ellerbe.

  19. Chicago Bears: Kareem Martin, DE, North Carolina
I mentioned in the first round that Chicago’s current regime has drafted athletes who can play multiple positions. That’s not the case with Kareem Martin – though he could rush inside on passing downs – but he also fits Phil Emery’s big, athletic prospect mold.

Pick change; previously Marcus Roberson, CB

  20. Arizona Cardinals: Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois
The Cardinals could use some safety help, as free agent Yeremiah Bell is thinking about retirement.

  21. Green Bay Packers: Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech
The Packers will be targeting a tight end in Rounds 2-4, and Jace Amaro makes a lot of sense. Amaro may not be available at this juncture – it will be tough for him to get by the Jets – so Green Bay may trade up, just like it did for Jerel Worthy in the second round two years ago.

  22. Philadelphia Eagles: Jeremiah Attaochu, DE/OLB, Georgia Tech
One of the positions the Eagles are looking to upgrade on defense is outside linebacker to help improve their pass rush. Jeremiah Attaochu, who would probably go earlier than this if he wasn’t injured, would be a perfect fit for Philadelphia’s stop unit.

  23. Cincinnati Bengals: Cameron Fleming, OT, Stanford
The Bengals lost Anthony Collins in free agency, so they’ll have to look elsewhere for a long-term solution at left tackle.

  24. Tennessee Titans: Cyrus Kouandjio, OT, Alabama
This is the pick the Titans acquired in the first-round trade. They could use this selection to obtain a potential left tackle of the future, given that Michael Roos is entering his contract season.

Pick change; previously Kareem Martin, DE (49ers)

  25. San Diego Chargers: Kyle Van Noy, DE/OLB, BYU
The Chargers have shown a lot of interest in Kyle Van Noy, who could help their pass-rushing woes; they need an upgrade across from Melvin Ingram.

Pick change; previously Jeremiah Attaochu, DE/OLB

  26. New Orleans Saints: Carl Bradford, LB, Arizona State
Carl Bradford would be a nice piece for New Orleans’ defense. The Saints could use depth – and future starters – at both rush linebacker and inside linebacker, and Bradford can play both positions.

  27. Indianapolis Colts: Marcus Martin, C, USC
The Colts’ top priority has to be protecting Andrew Luck, so they’re expected to use one of their second-day choices on a lineman. Center is their biggest need.

Pick change; previously Gabe Jackson, G

  28. Carolina Panthers: Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State
The Panthers obviously could double up – or even triple up – on receivers during the early stages of the 2014 NFL Draft.

  29. San Francisco 49ers: Keith McGill, CB, Utah
San Francisco’s group of cornerbacks isn’t very strong, as Carlos Rogers and Tarell Brown have both moved on to new teams. The 49ers are weak at this position, so they could easily spend two early selections on upgrades in the 2014 NFL Draft.

  30. New England Patriots: Weston Richburg, C, Colorado State
Ryan Wendell was re-signed, but an upgrade at center is still needed. He was most responsible for Tom Brady’s poor pass protection.

  31. Denver Broncos: Trent Murphy, DE/OLB, Stanford
The Broncos lost Robert Ayers and Shaun Phillips, so they might be interested in addressing their depth at defensive end, all while finding a potential successor for DeMarcus Ware.

Pick change; previously Marcus Martin, C

  32. Seattle Seahawks: Marcus Smith, DE/OLB, Louisville
The Seahawks lost Chris Clemons to the Jaguars and may see Cliff Avril walk next spring. They need a new LEO. Marcus Smith perfectly fits what Seattle looks for in its draft prospects.
