  1. Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
It’s clear by now that Ryan Finley is not the long-term answer, so the Bengals will want to select a franchise quarterback with the top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Tua Tagovailoa is no longer the option because of his devastating injury, but it doesn’t even matter anymore, based on what Joe Burrow has accomplished.

Burrow has made quite the leap. He was actually not considered a first-round prospect back in September. Charlie Campbell reported that NFL Teams See a Day 2 Ceiling for Joe Burrow. Burrow has improved exponentially, and he’s now the no-brainer No. 1 overall selection.

  2. Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
    TRADE!!!

From talking to people in Miami, I’ve come to the conclusion that it makes far more sense for the Redskins to trade down than the Lions. Sure, they lose out on Chase Young, but picking Young was problematic anyway because that means they’ll have four first-round picks on the defensive line, which would make re-signing everyone impossible. We saw this a couple of years ago when the Browns passed on Bradley Chubb in favor of Denzel Ward for the same reason. Young is a better prospect, but if the Redskins can trade down, I think they’d do it. Also, the Dolphins moving up to No. 3 would be nonsensical because another team can just leap over them up to No. 2.

I believe Tua Tagovailoa will be a top-three pick. The demand for quarterbacks is too high. The Dolphins, Chargers, Panthers and perhaps even the Buccaneers, Jaguars and Colts are teams that could be interested in moving up for the Alabama prospect. Tagovailoa, of course, suffered a serious injury this past season, but he will reportedly throw before the NFL Draft, which is huge. It sounds as though Tagovaila’s injury wasn’t as bad as it was initially suspected to be, which is great news. It’ll also mean that some team will be more eager to trade up for him, so I expect either the Redskins or Lions to move down.

The Dolphins are currently slotted ahead of all the other teams I mentioned above, but they seem to love Tagovailoa, so they could trade up to make sure that another team doesn’t leap over them.

  3. Detroit Lions: Chase Young, DE/OLB, Ohio State
The Lions would be foolish to even wait a whole second to submit their card if they have a chance to obtain Chase Young. He would fill a huge need, and he’d be a steal as the best player in the 2020 NFL Draft class at No. 3 overall.

Young enjoyed a breakout season in the wake of Nick Bosa’s injury in 2018, and has been very dominant this year. He’s a very athletic edge player with great size (6-5, 265), and he won’t get out of the top three, barring injury.

  4. New York Giants: Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama
The Giants’ defense is an abomination, and they also need help on the offensive line so that Daniel Jones doesn’t keep fumbling twice every week. A No. 1 receiver can be obtained as well. I’ve had Jerry Jeudy slotted here for a while, but the more I think about it, the more I believe general manager Dave Gettleman will address the offensive line.

Jedrick Wills is a quick and athletic tackle who has the strength to open up huge running lanes. Several teams absolutely love him, so he’ll likely be chosen earlier than most expect.

Pick change; previously Andrew Thomas, OT

  5. Washington Redskins: Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State
Jeff Okudah is not as good of a prospect as his Buckeye teammate, but he fills a far bigger need for the Redskins. Washington’s secondary was an abomination last year, as Josh Norman’s play has completely fallen off. Quinton Dunbar played well, but he was the only cornerback on the Redskins’ roster who wasn’t terrible in 2019.

Okudah is a big, athletic, speedy cornerback with immense upside. He’s a bit stiff, but that’s commonplace from tall cornerbacks.

  6. Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
Philip Rivers’ career with the Chargers is officially over. Rivers moved his family to Florida, so I expect him to sign with the Buccaneers or Dolphins. The Chargers will need to find a new quarterback.

Justin Herbert has endured an up-and-down 2018 season. He was considered the top quarterback prospect for the 2019 NFL Draft before making the mistake of returning to school, where he risked injury and regression. We saw that regression from Herbert late in the 2019 campaign, so at this point, he might be lucky to be a top-10 choice.

  7. Carolina Panthers: Derrick Brown, DE/DT, Auburn
The Panthers are getting an absolute steal with this pick, as Derrick Brown has the talent to be chosen in the top five, perhaps even No. 3 overall if there are no trades. Carolina could use a long-term replacement for Gerald McCoy in the interior of its defensive line.

Brown has great size (6-5, 316) and tons of upside. He can be a great interior disruptor if he lives up to his potential. He had a chance to be a top-five pick (No. 5 overall?) in the 2019 NFL Draft before he returned to school. Brown has thrived this past season, and he was an absolute monster in the 2019 Iron Bowl.

  8. Arizona Cardinals: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
The Cardinals have endured severe offensive line problems over the years, and it’ll only get worse if D.J. Humphries leaves via free agency. Kyler Murray had no chance last year when battling teams that possessed great pass rushes, so it’s obvious that Arizona must upgrade its blocking.

Andrew Thomas has been very impressive, using his great athleticism and length. NFL personnel believe he has tremendous potential.

Pick change; previously Jerry Jeudy, WR

  9. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
D.J. Chark was fantastic last year, but the Jaguars don’t have much else at receiver Obtaining Jeudy would give Jacksonville two potent downfield threats for either Gardner Minshew or Nick Foles.

Jerry Jeudy isn’t the elite freak that Julio Jones was, but he’s also considered better than Calvin Ridley. He’s somewhere in between, so he’s expected to be chosen in the 8-12 range.

Pick change; previously Jedrick Wills, OT

  10. Cleveland Browns: Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville
Perhaps the Browns will think twice about entering the season with Greg Robinson as their left tackle. They desperately need help on the offensive line.

At 6-7, 340, Mekhi Becton is a massive human being. Despite his size, however, Becton is athletic and flexible. He projects similarly to Cordy Glenn.

  11. New York Jets: Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
The Jets need someone to help Sam Darnold, so both a No. 1 receiver (CeeDee Lamb) and a talented left tackle (Tristan Wirfs) make sense. The former happens to be the superior prospect, but I think the front office will value protecting Darnold.

Tristan Wirfs, a 320-pound tackle, needs to improve his pass protection, but he’s a massive run blocker with first-round potential.

  12. Las Vegas Raiders: Isaiah Simmons, LB/S, Clemson
The Raiders have needed help at linebacker for quite some time. They may finally address the position with one of their first-round picks, as Jon Gruden can obtain his new Derrick Brooks.

Isaiah Simmons flew all around the field and has been a physical presence for Clemson. He can play linebacker and safety.

Pick change; previously CeeDee Lamb, WR

  13. Indianapolis Colts: Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina
You can never have enough dominant pass rushers, and the Colts could opt to use an early draft pick on a successor for Justin Houston. They could also find a stud in the interior of their defensive front, and filling that area would allow them to take the best player available.

Javon Kinlaw is a great athlete, and he has been a major disruptor in 2019. He dominated the Senior Bowl, just like Aaron Donald did six years ago.

  14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama
The Buccaneers could draft a quarterback, but that would require general manager Jason Licht to admit that he was wrong about Jameis Winston. Licht believes he’s right about everything, so Tampa might give Winston another shot in 2020. If so, perhaps this pick will be used on a safety to finally make amends for not selecting Derwin James.

Xavier McKinney was the best safety on Alabama’s roster last year, despite the presence of Deionte Thompson. He can do everything in the secondary.

  15. Denver Broncos: Henry Ruggs, WR, Alabama
Courtland Sutton is a beast, but the Broncos have nothing else at receiver after moving on from Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders in consecutive seasons. Drew Lock looks like he has some potential, so John Elway needs to give his young quarterback another weapon.

Henry Ruggs is a very fast receiver who would be a nice complement for Sutton.

  16. Atlanta Falcons: K’Lavon Chaisson, DE, LSU
The Falcons have needed to bolster the trenches for quite some time. I imagine they’d be highly interested in Derrick Brown or Javon Kinlaw if they can obtain one of them via trade. In this scenario, they find a strong presence on the edge.

K’Lavon Chaisson is a long, athletic edge player with big-time potential.

Pick change; previously Yetur Gross-Matos, DE
