*** This mock draft will be updated at least once per week (Tuesday afternoons and other times for important events.). Check out old versions of this 2014 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock draft section. Follow @walterfootball for updates. ***

  1. Houston Texans: Carl Bradford, DE/OLB, Arizona State
The Texans would kill two stones with one bird with this pick, as Emmitt would say. They need to upgrade their pass rush and find some help at inside linebacker. Carl Bradford would satisfy the former, which would allow Brooks Reed to move inside.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

Pick change; previously Cameron Fleming, OT

  2. Washington Redskins: Terrence Brooks, S, Florida State
The Redskins wanted to address the safety position this offseason. All they’ve done so far is bring Brandon Meriweather back, which is not enough.

Pick change; previously Chris Borland, ILB

  3. Oakland Raiders: Tre Mason, RB, Auburn
The Raiders retained Darren McFadden, as predicted, but for only one year. Rashad Jennings is gone, so Oakland needs a new insurance policy.

Pick change; previously Gabe Jackson, G

  4. Atlanta Falcons: Ed Reynolds, S, Stanford
The Falcons addressed a bunch of needs this offseason, but one hole that remains is the safety position, as the team recently cut Thomas DeCoud.

  5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Bashaud Breeland, CB, Clemson
At this time last spring, who would’ve thought the Buccaneers would cut Darrelle Revis just a year later? Tampa had a need at corner even before the Revis-Alterraun Verner swap.

Pick change; previously Paul Richardson, WR

  6. Jacksonville Jaguars: Bishop Sankey, RB, Washington
The Jaguars signed Toby Gerhart, but perhaps they’ll add another running back in Rounds 3-4. They have to know that Gerhart can’t possibly be the sole featured back.

  7. Cleveland Browns: Christian Jones, LB, Florida State
The Browns had two holes to fill at inside linebacker once they cut D’Qwell Jackson. Signing Karlos Dansby fills one of the needs, but Cleveland needs a long-term option at the position.

Pick change; previously Jeremy Hill, RB

  8. Minnesota Vikings: Craig Loston, S, LSU
The Vikings did a good job of addressing their pedestrian secondary this offseason, but they still need a safety next to Harrison Smith.

  9. Buffalo Bills: Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU
If the Bills don’t grab Mike Evans at No. 9, they may just opt for a receiver at this juncture. Stevie Johnson won’t be on the team much longer.

  10. New York Giants: Devonta Freeman, RB, Florida State
The Giants signed Rashad Jennings, but they still need another running back. They can’t rely on just Jennings until David Wilson returns.

  11. St. Louis Rams: Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU
The Rams should think about drafting a quarterback on Day 2 just in case Sam Bradford continues to be mediocre (and injury-prone).

Pick change; previously A.J. McCarron, QB

  12. Detroit Lions: Dominique Easley, DE, Florida
Jason Jones is slated to start across from Ziggy Ansah, but he’s coming off a torn patellar tendon, which is a tough injury to come back from. Here’s some insurance.

Pick change; previously Ahmad Dixon, S

  13. San Francisco 49ers: Kareem Martin, DE, North Carolina
The 49ers have Tank Carradine waiting in the wings, but with four second-day picks, they can afford to go with the best player available who fits their scheme perfectly.

Pick change; previously Deone Bucannon, S

  14. Dallas Cowboys: Ego Ferguson, DT, LSU
The Cowboys desperately need a defensive tackle, as they don’t have much around Henry Melton.

Pick change; previously Telvin Smith, OLB

  15. Baltimore Ravens: Lache Seastrunk, RB, Baylor
Given Ray Rice’s struggles and legal issues, the Ravens may use a pick in the middle rounds on a new running back.

  16. New York Jets: Jaylen Watkins, CB, Florida
Poor Rex Ryan is frustrated that his team whiffed on all of the top cornerbacks. The Jets will have to address the position in the draft.

Pick change; previously Demarcus Lawrence, DE/OLB

  17. Miami Dolphins: Gabe Jackson, G, Mississippi State
As noted earlier, the Dolphins must make multiple upgrades on their offensive line. If they want to use Zack Martin at right tackle, they could take a guard later on.

Pick change; previously Cyrus Kouandjio, OT

  18. Chicago Bears: Anthony Johnson, DT, LSU
If the Bears can’t retain Henry Melton and happen to miss out on Aaron Donald at No. 14, Anthony Johnson would be an option during Day 2.

  19. Cleveland Browns: Cameron Fleming, OT, Stanford
The Browns are talking about bringing in competition at right tackle, so they may spend a Round 3-4 selection on the position.

Pick change; previously Jared Abbrederis, WR

  20. Arizona Cardinals: Joel Bitonio, G/OT, Nevada
Someone like Joel Bitonio could compete for the right guard spot with Earl Watford. He could also provide depth at both tackle and guard.

  21. Green Bay Packers: Tre Boston, S, North Carolina
Is there any doubt that the Packers need to improve their secondary? Their defensive backfield blew so many coverages throughout the season, and they had no chance against Colin Kaepernick.

  22. Philadelphia Eagles: Deone Bucannon, S, Washington State
Philadelphia’s defense was terrible for many reasons, one of which is the safety position. Malcolm Jenkins was signed, but help is still needed there. Nate Allen is just too unreliable to be one of the starters.

Pick change; previously Trevor Reilly, DE/OLB

  23. Kansas City Chiefs: Paul Richardson, WR, Colorado
The Chiefs need some help in their receiving corps, especially with Dexter McCluster now in Tennessee.

Pick change; previously Cameron Fleming, OT

  24. Cincinnati Bengals: Antonio Richardson, OT, Tennessee
The Bengals lost Anthony Collins in free agency, so they’ll have to look elsewhere for a long-term solution at left tackle.

Pick change; previously Travis Swanson, C

  25. San Diego Chargers: DaQuan Jones, NT, Penn State
The Chargers currently lack a starting-caliber nose tackle, so they’ll have to address the position early in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Pick change; previously Jaylen Watkins, CB

  26. Indianapolis Colts: Cyril Richardson, G/OT, Baylor
Adding an offensive linemen who can play multiple positions would be a good idea for the Colts, who have issues up front.

  27. New Orleans Saints: Ka’Deem Carey, RB, Arizona
The Saints lost Darren Sproles, so they may want to find another pass-catching running back in the 2014 NFL Draft.

  28. Carolina Panthers: Jared Abbrederis, WR, Wisconsin
The Panthers obviously could double up – or even triple up – on receivers during the early stages of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Pick change; previously Donte Moncrief, WR

  29. New England Patriots: C.J. Fiedeorowicz, TE, Iowa
With Aaron Hernandez gone forever and Rob Gronkowski coming off a serious knee injury, the Patriots may want to bring in another talented tight end.

Pick change; previously DaQuan Jones, NT

  30. San Francisco 49ers: Pierre Desir, CB, Lindenwood
The secondary is a troublesome area for the 49ers, so they may spend multiple selections on the cornerback position.

  31. Denver Broncos: Travis Swanson, C, Arkansas
The Broncos have a big hole at left guard, vacated by Zane Beadles. They could move Manny Ramirez there, which would open up a spot at center.

Pick change; previously Jack Mewhort, OT

  32. Minnesota Vikings: Telvin Smith, OLB, Florida State
The Vikings have just one sure thing at linebacker, and that would be Chad Greenway, who is coming off an awful season.

Pick change; previously Dominique Easley, DE

  33. Pittsburgh Steelers: Loucheiz Purifoy, CB, Florida
The Steelers have to address the cornerback position. Ike Taylor was dreadful this past year, as the receivers he battled – save for A.J. Green, oddly enough – posted season-high totals against him.

  34. Green Bay Packers: Will Clarke, DE/DT, West Virginia
As mentioned earlier, the Packers are trying to get much faster on defense. They also need help up front, as B.J. Raji signed back on for just one more year.

  35. Baltimore Ravens: Brandon Coleman, WR, Rutgers
Baltimore added Steve Smith, which I thought was an awful move (go here for my NFL Free Agent Grades), but regardless of my opinion, the Ravens are still in the market for a long-term No. 2 option for Joe Flacco.

  36. San Francisco 49ers: Ahmad Dixon, S, Baylor
The 49ers spent a first-round pick on a safety last year, but they may have to use another selection on one with Donte Whitner signed on with the Browns.
