Last update: Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Major changes in all 5 rounds.
Next update: Next week. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.

*** This mock draft will be updated at least once per week (Tuesday afternoons and other times for important events.). Check out old versions of this 2014 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock draft section. Follow @walterfootball for updates. ***

  1. Houston Texans: Carlos Hyde, RB, Ohio State
The Texans have officially lost Ben Tate, who signed with the Browns. This was expected all along though, so the team has been looking at new options behind Arian Foster. Carlos Hyde would make a lot of sense for them atop Round 2.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

  2. Washington Redskins: Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
The Redskins just re-signed DeAngelo Hall, but he won’t be around much longer. Another Virginia Tech cornerback could be a possible long-term solution.

Pick change; previously Jimmie Ward, S

  3. Cleveland Browns: Xavier Su’a-Filo, G, UCLA
The Browns have a huge hole at one of the guard slots, so this is an area they’ll be looking to address early in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Pick change; previously Ryan Shazier, LB

  4. Oakland Raiders: Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State
I have a feeling Timmy Jernigan will fall during the draft for multiple reasons. If that happens, the Raiders will be more than happy to take him at this juncture, as he would strengthen a weak group of defensive tackles.

Pick change; previously Zach Mettenberger, QB

  5. St. Louis Rams: Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt
The Rams will strongly consider Sammy Watkins at No. 2 if they don’t trade out. If they do, they may choose someone like Jordan Matthews with one of their two second-round picks. Sam Bradford needs all of the help he can get.

  6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Eastern Illinois
The Buccaneers signed Josh McCown to be their immediate starter, but they still need a long-term answer at the position, and they clearly don’t view Mike Glennon as such.

Pick change; previously Jason Verrett, CB

  7. Jacksonville Jaguars: A.J. McCarron, QB, Alabama
The Jaguars have to take a quarterback early for obvious reasons. Despite his poor finish, A.J. McCarron is still viewed as a second-round prospect by at least one team.

Pick change; previously Jimmy Garoppolo, QB

  8. Minnesota Vikings: Brandon Thomas, OT/G, Clemson
The Vikings can help their new quarterback (as well as Adrian Peterson) with improved interior offensive line play. Charlie Johnson, the weak link on the unit, was retained, but he can’t be a starter anymore. Vladimir Ducasse was signed, but he may just be a backup.

Pick change; previously Xavier Su’a-Filo, G

  9. Buffalo Bills: Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech
The Bills have to add play-makers around E.J. Manuel, who needs all the help he can get. The tight end position definitely needs to be upgraded.

  10. Tennessee Titans: Jeremy Hill, RB, LSU
The Titans probably won’t be able to trade Chris Johnson. If they cut him, Tennessee will obviously be searching for a new lead running back.

Pick change; previously Stephon Tuitt, DE/DT

  11. New York Giants: Scott Crichton, DE, Oregon State
New York could double dip in the trenches. Justin Tuck was one of many Giants to sign with the Raiders, so a replacement is needed.

  12. St. Louis Rams: Dion Bailey, S, USC
St. Louis’ defense came on late in the season, but it struggled at times during the year for a couple of reasons. One was the play of safety Rodney McLeod. He wasn’t terrible, but it’s clear that the Rams need to find an upgrade next to T.J. McDonald.

  13. Detroit Lions: Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State
The Lions signed Golden Tate, but they were always in the market for two receivers. Shoring up the wideout position would be huge, as Matthew Stafford struggled when Calvin Johnson was out of the lineup this past season. With a second-round receiver on the roster along with Tate, Stafford will be fine if Megatron has to miss a couple of games.

Pick change; previously Keith McGill, CB

  14. Pittsburgh Steelers: Stephon Tuitt, DE/DT, Notre Dame
The Steelers lost Ziggy Hood and Al Woods in free agency. Neither was an impactful player, but the team is severely lacking in depth up front. Stephon Tuitt qualifies as best player available.

Pick change; previously Lamarcus Joyner, CB/S

  15. Dallas Cowboys: Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois
Dallas had horrible safety play throughout the 2013 season. An upgrade in this area would have allowed it to beat Philadelphia in Week 17.

Pick change; previously Terrence Brooks, S

  16. Baltimore Ravens: Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia
The Ravens knew all along that they’d lose Michael Oher in free agency. He’s gone, so they need a new right tackle because Ricky Wagner cannot be allowed to start.

Pick change; previously Marcus Martin, C

  17. New York Jets: Troy Niklas, TE, Notre Dame
Kellen Winslow proved to be an insufficient replacement for Dustin Keller, so this is a position New York will look to upgrade this offseason.

  18. Miami Dolphins: Chris Borland, ILB, Wisconsin
The Dolphins are in the market for a new middle linebacker, as Dannell Ellerbe predictably struggled this past season. Miami’s new front office has no allegiance to Ellerbe.

Pick change; previously Tre Mason, RB

  19. Chicago Bears: Marcus Roberson, CB, Florida
Chicago was able to re-sign Tim Jennings recently, while Charles Tillman was brought back, but for only one year. The Bears have to deal with Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford twice per year, so they’ll definitely look to upgrade their secondary with multiple selections.

  20. Arizona Cardinals: Demarcus Lawrence, DE/OLB, Boise State
Arizona needs a better pass-rusher across from Anthony Barr, and Demarcus Lawrence might fit their “BPA” style of drafting.

Pick change; previously Carl Bradford, DE/OLB

  21. Green Bay Packers: Trent Murphy, DE/OLB, Stanford
The Packers need pass-rushing depth in the event that Clay Matthews gets hurt again. Julius Peppers was signed, but it’s looking like that was essentially just a 1-year deal. As Charlie Campbell reported, the Packers are very interested in Trent Murphy.

  22. Philadelphia Eagles: Jeremiah Attaochu, DE/OLB, Georgia Tech
The only linebacker who consistently put pressure on the quarterback was Trent Cole, and he won’t last beyond next year because he’s due $10 million in 2015. Another pass-rusher is currently needed anyway.

Pick change; previously Martavis Bryant, WR

  23. Cincinnati Bengals: Marcus Martin, C, USC
The center position is one of the top needs I have listed in the Bengals team needs page. Kyle Cook needed to be upgraded before his release.

Pick change; previously Brandon Thomas, OT/G

  24. San Francisco 49ers: Keith McGill, CB, Utah
San Francisco’s group of cornerbacks isn’t very strong, as Carlos Rogers has understandably declined at 32. The 49ers are weak at this position, so they could easily spend two early selections on upgrades in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Pick change; previously Kareem Martin, DE

  25. San Diego Chargers: Kyle Van Noy, DE/OLB, BYU
The Chargers have shown a lot of interest in Kyle Van Noy, who could help their pass-rushing woes; they need an upgrade across from Melvin Ingram.

Pick change; previously Kyle Van Noy, DE/OLB

  26. New Orleans Saints: Allen Robinson, WR, Penn State
The Saints could use another receiver. Marques Colston disappointed this season prior to the Carolina victory, yet he’s still New Orleans’ top option by a wide margin. Lance Moore was recently cut.

  27. Indianapolis Colts: Lamarcus Joyner, CB/S, Florida State
The Colts managed to retain Vontae Davis, but they still have a big need at corner. If you don’t believe me, go back and watch the Kansas City-Indianapolis playoff game.

Pick change; previously Bashaud Breeland, CB

  28. Carolina Panthers: Cyrus Kouandjio, OT, Alabama
Both Cyrus Kouandjio and Antonio Richardson took major hits at the Combine because of their failed physical exams. I didn’t know what to do with them, so I dropped both to Rounds 2-3.

Perhaps the Panthers believe Kouandjio can fill the void that Jordan Gross’ retirement created at left tackle.

    Pick change; previously Morgan Moses

  29. San Francisco 49ers: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington
Jim Harbaugh loves to run multiple-tight end formations. He missed Delanie Walker this past season, so I could see San Francisco using one of its many second-day selections on a replacement.

  30. New England Patriots: Weston Richburg, C, Colorado State
Ryan Wendell, an impending free agent, has been most responsible for Tom Brady’s poor pass protection.

  31. Denver Broncos: Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska
The Broncos landed Aqib Talib this offseason, but they lost Champ Bailey and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. They’ll need to add another corner in the draft.

  32. Seattle Seahawks: Martavis Bryant, WR, Clemson
Golden Tate left for Detroit, but the Seahawks needed an upgrade at receiver anyway (Cris Carter would agree).

Pick change; previously Davante Adams, WR
