  1. Los Angeles Chargers: Vita Vea, NT, Washington
The Chargers have a great defense, but their one area of weakness is in the interior of the defensive line. Corey Liuget is a talented interior pass-rusher, but the Chargers lack a monstrous run-stuffing presence. That would change with this selection.

Vita Vea is a freak athlete, as few man can do what he’s able to at his size. He could easily be chosen in the top 15, so this is a solid value pick.

  2. Seattle Seahawks: Billy Price, C/G, Ohio State
The Seahawks have to focus on their offensive line this offseason, as they can’t allow Russell Wilson to run around like a chicken with its head cut off for another year. Taking the best offensive lineman available makes a lot of sense, and that could be Billy Price.

Price is an excellent interior line prospect and could sneak into the top 20, as he can play both center and guard.

Pick change; previously Mike McGlinchey, OT

  3. Dallas Cowboys: Isaiah Wynn, G/C, Georgia
Dallas’ offensive line was not the same this past season. Left guard was a major problem area, as Jonathan Cooper was not a viable replacement for Denver-bound Ronald Leary. Here’s a much-needed upgrade over Cooper.

Isaiah Wynn has terrific strength, but will have to stay inside due to size and length restrictions. He was in the second round in last week’s update, but I think there’s a chance he could sneak into the top 20.

Pick change; previously Billy Price, G/C

  4. Detroit Lions: Sony Michel, RB, Georgia
The Lions hired Matt Patricia, so the front office obviously believes he can coach up the defensive players. Thus, it wouldn’t surprise me if Detroit’s initial selection is spent on an offensive weapon.

Detroit’s rushing attack is extremely lackluster, as Ameer Abdullah has been a major disappointment. Sony Michel would provide a massive upgrade, giving Matthew Stafford the backfield weapon he desperately wants. Michel was Georgia’s best running back this past season, and I believe there’s a good chance he’ll be the second running back chosen in this class.

  5. Buffalo Bills: Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama
The Bills traded for Kelvin Benjamin during the season and spent a second-round pick on Zay Jones last spring, but with Jordan Matthews failing, they’ll be in the market for another receiver.

Some will question why Buffalo isn’t selecting a quarterback at this juncture. I believe this is something the team will address prior to the 2018 NFL Draft. I could see the Bills throwing multiple draft picks at Philadelphia for Nick Foles.

  6. Buffalo Bills: James Daniels, C, Iowa
Eric Wood has announced his retirement, leaving the mediocre Ryan Groy to start at center. This is far from ideal, so the Bills could use this selection on Wood’s replacement, as the run on interior offensive linemen continues.

Pick change; previously Donte Jackson, CB

  7. Los Angeles Rams: Sam Hubbard, DE, Ohio State
The Rams have a ferocious defensive line, but Connor Barwin is the one weak link. He was supposed to provide some veteran stability, but that hasn’t happened. Here’s a potential upgrade.

I’ve been moving Sam Hubbard around in my mock draft quite a bit. That’s because he has great talent, but seldom lived up to it at Ohio State. However, he had a strong finish to his 2017 campaign, so he could still go in the first round.

Pick change; previously Carlton Davis, CB

  8. Carolina Panthers: Donte Jackson, CB, LSU
The secondary is the weak link of Carolina’s roster. The Panthers need upgrades at both cornerback and safety. Donte Jackson is arguably the best player available of those two positions, though there are several other corners who could make that case.

Pick change; previously Sam Hubbard, DE

  9. Tennessee Titans: Will Hernandez, G, UTEP
Will Hernandez’s stock has risen following his terrific Senior Bowl. Not only was he impressive on the practice field, he also aced the interviews. He could be Tennessee’s pick in the opening round, as the Titans have a dubious situation at guard, as both of their starters at the position, Josh Kline and Quinton Spain, happen to be impending free agents.

  10. Atlanta Falcons: Taven Bryan, DT, Florida
The Falcons’ defense was incredibly soft against the Eagles in the divisional round of the playoffs. They have to strengthen the interior of their defensive line, and they can do that with this selection.

This mock selection was influenced by Charlie Campbell’s Senior Bowl rumor mill report, where he discussed that the Falcons like some defensive tackles in this class, including Taven Bryan.

  11. New Orleans Saints: Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
Baker Mayfield goes from No. 4 to 27 in one week, but not really. I think the Saints will trade up for him, or perhaps another quarterback.

New Orleans really wanted Patrick Mahomes. The team was going to take Mahomes had the Chiefs not jumped in front of them. I don’t think the Saints will allow another opportunity to slip through their fingers. I could see them trading all the way up to No. 10, 11 or 13 for Mayfield, if he’s still available by then, surrendering a 2019 first-round pick in the process.

Pick change; previously Rashaan Evans, LB

  12. Pittsburgh Steelers: Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville
Teams believed Lamar Jackson would return to school, but he has opted to declare for the 2018 NFL Draft. Jackson has amazing upside because of his huge arm and great mobility, but he needs to work on his mechanics and ball placement. Sitting behind Ben Roethlisberger for a year or two would be ideal. Roethlisberger recently said he would play for a few more years, but how can Pittsburgh trust him to stay that long when he’s been so wishy-washy?

  13. Jacksonville Jaguars: Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU
Jacksonville’s receivers did a good job this past season in the wake of Allen Robinson’s injury, but none of them projects as a true No. 1. Robinson could depart via free agency, and if he does, I suspect the Jaguars will consider a replacement in the first couple of rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft.

  14. Minnesota Vikings: Isaiah Oliver, CB, Colorado
The Vikings have a huge liability at cornerback in Trae Waynes, who has failed to live up to his first-round billing. Terence Newman isn’t getting any younger either, as we saw when he tried to defend Alshon Jeffery in the NFC Championship. The Vikings could decide to go back to the drawing board next offseason.

  15. New England Patriots: Kolton Miller, OT, UCLA
Nate Solder is an impending free agent. It’ll be interesting to see what the Patriots do with him. He’s obviously very talented, but he’s had severe injury problems over the past several seasons, so New England may decide that it can’t count on him.

  16. Philadelphia Eagles: Trenton Thompson, DT, Georgia
Doug Pederson comes from the Andy Reid school of thought where bolstering the trenches is paramount. He spent last year’s first-round pick on Derek Barnett despite already having Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry, so I don’t think it’s out of the question that he could opt for a talented defensive tackle to play in a rotation with Fletcher Cox and Timmy Jernigan. Both of those players stayed healthy in 2017, but what if that doesn’t happen in 2018? It would be great to have a terrific insurance policy like Trenton Thompson.
