*** THIS IS A LIVE 2014 NFL MOCK DRAFT. PICKS ARE BEING POSTED NOW. TO SEE PREVIOUS VERSIONS, CHECK OUT THE ARCHIVED 2014 NFL MOCK DRAFT SECTION. FOLLOW @walterfootball FOR UPDATES ***

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
Many might say that the Jaguars have the worst quarterback situation in the NFL. They would all be wrong. Jacksonville has a franchise signal-caller. His name is Teddy Bridgewater.

Given how important the quarterback position is, Bridgewater will the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, barring injury or late-season collapse. There’s really no discussion. Jadeveon Clowney wouldn’t change the Jaguars’ franchise. Bridgewater would.

By the way, I’m doing this live because I thought it’d be fun to get instant feedback. I’m going to post my mock anyway, so why not do it this way? Follow @walterfootball for updates.

  2. Oakland Raiders: Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
Terrelle Pryor amazingly looked pretty competent against the Colts. He’ll have major issues against top defenses – we’ll see what happens Monday night – but Indianapolis was poorly coached and inexplicably not prepared for his scrambling ability. For now, I’ll say that the Raiders stick with Pryor. That makes this selection obvious.

Some call Jadeveon Clowney the top defensive prospect to come along in years. Clowney has motivational problems, as Charlie Campbell reported before anyone else about a month ago. Still though, his presence along with Lamarr Houston would give Oakland an incredible pass-rushing duo.

  3. Cleveland Browns: Tajh Boyd, QB, Clemson
So much for the whole Brandon Weeden being good thing. Weeden was absolutely terrible in the season opener and followed that up with another stinker at Baltimore. The Browns desperately need a franchise quarterback if they want to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2002 season.

Tajh Boyd is not just a runner; he completed 67.2 percent of his passes last year while maintaining a 9.1 YPA and a 36-to-13 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He was very impressive in the season opener versus Georgia.

  4. New York Jets: Anthony Barr, DE/OLB, UCLA
New York will go with the top player on their board, and that could easily be Anthony Barr. The Jets have a nice interior pass rush with Sheldon Richardson and Muhammad Wilkerson. Drafting Barr would give them a great bookend on the exterior with Quinton Coples. New York would suddenly go from being somewhat mediocre in terms of getting to the quarterback to being one of the best teams in the NFL in that regard.

Anthony Barr should really help New York’s efforts to get to the quarterback. A former running back, Barr played defense for the first time this past season and made an instant impact, recording 13 sacks. The sky’s the limit for him, as he’ll only get better at his new position.

  5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
Left tackle may not seem like an obvious need to outside observers, but the Buccaneers are incredibly frustrated with Donald Penn. Josh Freeman’s current blind-side protector is once again dealing with weight issues. As a consequence, he struggles immensely in the preseason. Penn is due more than $6 million next year, so Tampa Bay could dump him in favor of a younger option.

  6. St. Louis Rams: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
The Rams signed Jake Long this offseason, but they still need tackle help because Rodger Saffold will be a free agent next spring. Besides, who knows how long their current left tackle will be able to hold up?

Pick change; previously Cyrus Kouandjio, OT

  7. Pittsburgh Steelers: Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
The Steelers desperately need offensive line help, but how can they resist with someone as talented as Sammy Watkins still on the board? Besides, it’s not like receiver isn’t a huge need. With Mike Wallace gone, Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t have a legitimate deep threat at his disposal. He tried airing it out to Emmanuel Sanders in the opener, but that predictably didn’t work.

Pick change; previously Marqise Lee, WR

  8. Carolina Panthers: Marqise Lee, WR, USC
How much longer are the Panthers going to rely on Brandon LaFell as a starting receiver? They need more explosion on offense; not to mention a No. 1 receiver after Steve Smith retires.

Pick change; previously Sammy Watkins, WR

  9. Minnesota Vikings: Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame
Stephon Tuitt gets plenty of hype at Notre Dame, but Louis Nix is the top defensive lineman on the squad. He was dominant against Michigan and should be a top-12 pick.

The Vikings drafted Sharrif Floyd, but they’ll need another defensive tackle with Kevin Williams being an impending free agent.

  10. Buffalo Bills: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington
It’s not usual to see a tight end go this high, but Austin Seferian-Jenkins is an absolute stud. He’ll be a matchup nightmare, much like Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham. E.J. Manuel, who prefers checking down, would love having a talent weapon like Seferian-Jenkins at his disposal.

It’s worth noting that Seferian-Jenkins was arrested for a DUI on March 9, but that was just one incident. I don’t think it’ll have too much of an impact on his draft stock if he appears remorseful.

  11. Philadelphia Eagles: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
Jeremy Maclin, who is entering his contract year, tore his ACL prior to the season. Maclin hasn’t been able to stay healthy throughout his career, so the Eagles may want to search for a No. 1 receiver next offseason.

I had Mike Evans listed high in my 2015 NFL Mock Draft. I have to put him in here now after what he did to Alabama. Resembling Vincent Jackson, he dominated the Tide.

Pick change; previously Aaron Colvin, CB

  12. Cleveland Browns: Bradley Roby, CB, Ohio State
The Browns acquired this pick in the Trent Richardson trade. Click the link to check out my grades for both teams.

I’m sure Cleveland would love to land an offensive play-maker for its new quarterback here, but all three wideouts are gone and there’s no running back worth taking. Thus, they’d have to “settle” for the No. 1 cornerback in this class. They need an upgrade over Buster Skrine, who’s currently starting across from Joe Haden.

Bradley Roby considered declaring for the 2013 NFL Draft. If he had, he may have been a top-six selection, which should tell you how much better this class is compared to last year’s (I had him going 14th in a previous update). Roby had a ridiculous 17 pass break-ups as a redshirt sophomore. He has gotten into legal trouble recently, but perhaps the Colts will forgive his only him, given that he has been given a second chance by Ohio State.

  13. Tennessee Titans: Marcus Roberson, CB, Florida
Alterraun Verner is entering his contract year, so Tennessee will need a new starter if it can’t retain him. Besides, the Titans need to fix their pass defense.

Pick change; previously Bradley Roby, CB

  14. Arizona Cardinals: Khalil Mack, DE/OLB, Buffalo
Khalil Mack made the biggest jump in a recent mock draft. Mack completely dominated the Ohio State offensive line. The Buckeyes simply couldn’t do anything about him. Mack is now in the conversation to be a top-15 pick. He’d fill a need across from Sam Acho in Arizona.

  15. St. Louis Rams: HaHa Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama
The Rams drafted T.J. McDonald back in April, but they’ll have to find another safety upgrade sometime soon. St. Louis couldn’t do anything to stop Matt Ryan even though Roddy White and Steven Jackson were limited.

  16. San Diego Chargers: Antonio Richardson, OT, Tennessee
It’s a shame for Philip Rivers that the Chargers couldn’t obtain a left tackle this offseason. Rivers has been in rapid decline partly because of poor protection – though he has improved through two games thus far – so San Diego better hope that he’s not completely ruined by the 2014 NFL Draft. Fortunately for the Chargers, there are quite a few blue-chip left tackles available.

Pick change; previously Taylor Lewan, OT
