Last update: Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013. Major changes in all 3 rounds. Trent Richardson update.
Next update: Next week. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.

The order of this 2014 NFL Mock Draft is based on my NFL Power Rankings.

*** THIS IS A LIVE 2014 NFL MOCK DRAFT. PICKS ARE BEING POSTED NOW. TO SEE PREVIOUS VERSIONS, CHECK OUT THE ARCHIVED 2013 NFL MOCK DRAFT SECTION. FOLLOW @walterfootball FOR UPDATES ***

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Bryan Stork, C, Florida State
It was surprising to see the Jaguars ignore the interior of their offensive line in the 2013 NFL Draft. Center Brad Meester, who just turned 36, isn’t nearly the player he once was.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

  2. Oakland Raiders: Brandon Coleman, WR, Rutgers
The Raiders’ current starting wideouts are Denarius Moore and Rod Streater. Neither is a No. 1 receiver, so Oakland needs to find one for its new quarterback.

  3. Cleveland Browns: Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss
Greg Little appeared to have fixed his issues with drops toward the end of last season, but his problems have resurfaced early this season. The Browns have to find a legitimate No. 2 wideout for their new quarterback.

  4. New York Jets: Josh Huff, WR, Oregon
Santonio Holmes won’t be on the team much longer, so even if Stephen Hill develops, the Jets will need another starting receiver.

  5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: A.J. McCarron, QB, Alabama
Josh Freeman’s time as a starting quarterback is quickly coming to an end. The Buccaneers will give Mike Glennon a shot this season, but if he fails, they’ll need to look elsewhere for a potential franchise signal-caller.

  6. Washington Redskins: Loucheiz Purifoy, CB, Florida
The Redskins have the worst defense in the NFL. They looked completely helpless against the Packers. Help is needed everywhere. DeAngelo Hall won’t be around much longer.

Pick change; previously Stephon Tuitt, DE/DT

  7. Pittsburgh Steelers: Cameron Erving, OT, Florida State
As mentioned, the Steelers have major issues on the offensive line. They couldn’t block the Titans at all in the opener.

  8. Carolina Panthers: Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
The Panthers went back-to-back defensive tackles this past April, so they could definitely do the same thing at the cornerback position (if they go with a corner in the first round) considering the circumstances.

Pick change; previously Quandre Diggs, CB

  9. Minnesota Vikings: David Fales, QB, San Jose State
The Vikings didn’t find a young quarterback this offseason because they didn’t want to hurt Christian Ponder’s confidence. However, if Ponder stinks again – he was awful in the opener and inconsistent at Chicago – Minnesota may look into drafting a young signal-caller.

  10. Buffalo Bills: Craig Loston, S, LSU
It seems as though a divorce is coming between Jairus Byrd and the Bills. If Byrd walks next offseason, Buffalo will obviously need help at safety.

  11. Indianapolis Colts: Stephon Tuitt, DE/DT, Notre Dame
I mocked Datone Jones to the Colts for a while because they need a pass-rushing presence up front. That’s still a hole they have to fill.

  12. Philadelphia Eagles: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M I had trouble placing Johnny Manziel. He’s a giant douche and won’t be on many draft boards. He has first-round talent, however, so some team will take him in the first three rounds. The Eagles make sense from a scheme perspective. I slotted Manziel to the Eagles in the third round last week, but I had to bump him up after what he did to Alabama.

Pick change; previously Adrian Hubbard, DE/OLB

  13. Tennessee Titans: Trent Murphy, DE/OLB, Stanford
Jurrell Casey is going to have a monstrous year as Tennessee’s interior pass-rusher, but the team needs some players who can get to the quarterback from the outside.

Pick change; previously Jackson Jeffcoat, DE

  14. Arizona Cardinals: Stephen Morris, QB, Miami
If the Cardinals are drafting 14th overall, it means that the Carson Palmer experiment didn’t go as well as planned. In that case, they’d consider a quarterback in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Stephen Morris would fit perfectly in Arizona’s offense.

  15. St. Louis Rams: Cyril Richardson, G/OT, Baylor
Another offensive line upgrade for the Rams, who have issues at left guard.

  16. San Diego Chargers: De’Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon
The Chargers signed Danny Woodhead to be their third-down back, but I’m not sure he’ll work outside of New England’s system. Philip Rivers needs a true replacement for Darren Sproles. De’Anthony Thomas would definitely work.

  17. New York Giants: Ryan Shazier, OLB, Ohio State
The Giants have one of the worst linebacking corps in the NFL. Something must be done about this.

  18. Kansas City Chiefs: Ed Stinson, DE/DT, Alabama
The Chiefs decided to keep Tyson Jackson for one more season, but it’s unlikely that he’ll be back in 2014. With that in mind, they’ll be looking for a new defensive end next offseason.

  19. Detroit Lions: Ty Zimmerman, S, Kansas State
Thanks to a barrage of injuries, Louis Delmas is no longer the player he once was. Delmas is owed $6 million in 2014 – his contract year – so the Lions could send him packing a season early.

  20. Chicago Bears: Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
The Bears are another team that could consider back-to-back corner selections. It all depends on whether they re-sign their current players.

Pick change; previously Darqueze Dennard, CB

  21. Dallas Cowboys: Jackson Jeffcoat, DE, Texas
George Selvie has done a great job of replacing Anthony Spencer, who will be gone this offseason. The Cowboys will need a third pass-rusher for depth once Spencer leaves.

Pick change; previously Timmy Jernigan, DT

  22. Miami Dolphins: Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina
The Dolphins signed Dustin Keller this offseason, but he went on to tear his ACL, MCL and PCL in the preseason. They’ll have to find a new tight end.

  23. Baltimore Ravens: Colt Lyerla, TE, Oregon
Dennis Pitta just suffered a brutal hip injury that could downgrade his effectiveness in the 2014 season. Ed Dickson, meanwhile, is an impending free agent. He sucks anyway, as does Dallas Clark.

  24. Atlanta Falcons: Will Sutton, DE/DT, Arizona State
The Falcons didn’t address defensive tackle even though they have a hole there next to Jonathan Babineaux. Peria Jerry will be given one more chance to prove himself. He has done nothing thus far.

Pick change; previously Dominique Easley, DE

  25. New England Patriots: Michael Dyer, RB, Louisville
The Patriots, as we all know, like to take chances on troubled players. Michael Dyer would be a consensus first-round pick if he had a clean off-the-field history. New England may bring him in if Stevan Ridley’s fumbling problems persist.

  26. Cincinnati Bengals: Travis Swanson, C, Arkansas
The Bengals don’t have much at center, as Kyle Cook beat out Trevor Robinson in an underwhelming camp battle.

  27. New Orleans Saints: Henry Anderson, DE/DT, Stanford
I mocked Sheldon Richardson to the Saints a couple of times last spring because they happen to be thin at defensive end in their new 3-4. That’s still the case.

  28. Green Bay Packers: Morgan Breslin, DE/OLB, USC
Nick Perry was disappointing in his 2013 debut. If he doesn’t improve, the Packers will need to bring in some competition for him next year.

  29. Houston Texans: Jeoffrey Pagan, DE/DT, Alabama
The Texans have a couple of defensive linemen heading for free agency in March, including Antonio Smith.

  30. San Francisco 49ers: Quandre Diggs, CB, Texas
The 49ers could stand to find help at cornerback, especially given that as a 33-year-old, Carlos Rogers will be due more than $6 million. Also keep in mind that Nnamdi Asomugha and Tarell Brown have expiring contracts next March.

Pick change; previously Deandre Coleman, DE/DT

  31. Denver Broncos: Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State
The Broncos could be looking for more help at defensive tackle because they don’t have much of an interior pass rush.

Pick change; previously Will Sutton, DE/DT

  32. Seattle Seahawks: Gabe Jackson, G, Mississippi State
The Seahawks have multiple areas of concern on their offensive line, including both guard spots. Imagine how potent Russell Wilson would be with upgraded protection.
