*** This mock draft will be updated at least once per week (Tuesday afternoons and other times for important events.). Check out old versions of this 2014 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock draft section. Follow @walterfootball for updates. ***

  1. Houston Texans: Tre Mason, RB, Auburn
The Texans have officially lost Ben Tate, who signed with the Browns. This was expected all along though, so the team has been looking at new options behind Arian Foster (Andre Brown signed on for just one year). Tre Mason would make a lot of sense for them atop Round 3.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

  2. Washington Redskins: Lamarcus Joyner, CB/S, Florida State
The Redskins just re-signed DeAngelo Hall, but he won’t be around much longer. A long-term solution is needed.

Pick change; previously Carl Bradford, LB

  3. Oakland Raiders: Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU
The Raiders will draft a quarterback at some point in the first few rounds, as they need a long-term solution beyond Matt Schaub. Zach Mettenberger fits the system.

Pick change; previously A.J. McCarron, QB

  4. Atlanta Falcons: Deone Bucannon, S, Washington State
The Falcons addressed a bunch of needs this offseason, but one hole that remains is the safety position, as the team recently cut Thomas DeCoud.

  5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Dominique Easley, DT, Florida
Considering that they have to battle Drew Brees, Matt Ryan and Cam Newton twice per season, the Buccaneers need to find someone besides Gerald McCoy to apply an interior pass rush.

  6. Jacksonville Jaguars: Kyle Van Noy, DE/OLB, BYU
If the Jaguars can’t get Khalil Mack (or Anthony Barr via trading down), they may opt for someone to fill their LEO position at this juncture.

  7. Cleveland Browns: Jack Mewhort, OT, Ohio State
There’s speculation that the Browns could take a right tackle early in the 2014 NFL Draft in order to move Mitchell Schwartz to guard.

Pick change; previously Cameron Fleming, OT

  8. Minnesota Vikings: Tom Savage, QB, Pittsburgh
The Vikings will obviously have to go with a quarterback on Day 2 if they pass on one at No. 8. Tom Savage and Zach Mettenberger are in play as great fits for Norv Turner’s offense.

  9. Buffalo Bills: Bashaud Breeland, CB, Clemson
The Bills have brought in a bunch of cornerbacks, so that might be a sign that they’re going to take one somewhat early in the 2014 NFL Draft. Perhaps Corey Graham will move to safety.

  10. New York Giants: Bishop Sankey, RB, Washington
The Giants signed Rashad Jennings, but they still need another running back. They can’t rely on just Jennings until David Wilson returns.

Pick change; previously Devonta Freeman, RB

  11. St. Louis Rams: Dion Bailey, S, USC
St. Louis’ defense came on late in the season, but it struggled at times during the year for a couple of reasons. One was the play of safety Rodney McLeod. He wasn’t terrible, but it’s clear that the Rams need to find an upgrade next to T.J. McDonald.

Pick change; previously Tom Savage, QB

  12. Detroit Lions: Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska
The Lions may not go with a cornerback early, but they’ll have to address the position at some point during this draft.

Pick change; previously Travis Swanson, C

  13. San Francisco 49ers: Pierre Desir, CB, Lindenwood
The secondary is a troublesome area for the 49ers, so they may spend multiple selections on the cornerback position.

Pick change; previously Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE

  14. Dallas Cowboys: Will Sutton, DT, Arizona State
The Cowboys desperately need a defensive tackle, as they don’t have much around Henry Melton.

Pick change; previously Ego Ferguson, DT

  15. Baltimore Ravens: Terrance West, RB, Towson
Given Ray Rice’s struggles and legal issues, the Ravens may use a pick in the middle rounds on a new running back.

  16. New York Jets: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington
Kellen Winslow proved to be an insufficient replacement for Dustin Keller, so this is a position New York will look to upgrade this offseason.

Pick change; previously Jaylen Watkins, CB

  17. Miami Dolphins: Ego Ferguson, DT, LSU
The Dolphins retained Randy Starks, but lost Paul Soliai to the Falcons. Here’s someone to replace him.

Pick change; previously Paul Richardson, WR

  18. Chicago Bears: George Uko, DT, USC
Henry Melton is long gone, so if the Bears happen to miss out on Aaron Donald at No. 14, George Uko would be an option during Day 2.

  19. Cleveland Browns: Christian Jones, LB, Florida State
The Browns had two holes to fill at inside linebacker once they cut D’Qwell Jackson. Signing Karlos Dansby fills one of the needs, but Cleveland needs a long-term option at the position.

  20. Arizona Cardinals: Trevor Reilly, DE/OLB, Utah
Arizona needs a better pass-rusher across from Sam Acho. Its front line is pretty fierce, but the outside linebackers have been lackluster.

Pick change; previously Zach Mettenberger, QB

  21. Green Bay Packers: Terrence Brooks, S, Florida State
Is there any doubt that the Packers need to improve their secondary? Their defensive backfield blew so many coverages throughout the season, and they had no chance against Colin Kaepernick.

Pick change; previously Tre Boston, S

  22. Philadelphia Eagles: Christian Kirksey, LB, Iowa
The Eagles have shown a ton of interest in Christian Kirksey and have designs for him in their defense. They need to add another linebacker.

Pick change; previously Trevor Reilly, DE/OLB

  23. Kansas City Chiefs: Bruce Ellington, WR, South Carolina
The Chiefs need some help in their receiving corps, especially with Dexter McCluster now in Tennessee.

  24. Cincinnati Bengals: Jackson Jeffcoat, DE/OLB, Texas
The Bengals lost Michael Johnson to the Buccaneers this offseason, so they may want to bring in a new defensive end.

Pick change; previously Antonio Richardson, OT

  25. San Diego Chargers: Rashaad Reynolds, CB, Oregon State
The Chargers’ defense made every single quarterback look like a Pro Bowler early in the year. They have a dreadful cornerback situation, which could be remedied with the use of an early-round pick in May’s draft.

Pick change; previously Lamarcus Joyner, CB

  26. Indianapolis Colts: Brock Vereen, S, Minnesota
In addition to the offensive line, the Colts need to upgrade their secondary after Alex Smith looked so unstoppable in the opening-round playoff game. Multiple picks could be used on the defensive backfield.

Pick change; previously Stanley Jean-Baptiste, C

  27. New Orleans Saints: Brandon Coleman, WR, Rutgers
The Saints could use another receiver. Marques Colston disappointed this season prior to the Carolina victory, yet he’s still New Orleans’ top option by a wide margin. Lance Moore was cut this offseason.

Pick change; previously Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB

  28. Carolina Panthers: Billy Turner, OT, North Dakota State
The Panthers have to find a new left tackle to fill the void at left tackle created by Jordan Gross’ retirement.

Pick change; previously Jarvis Landry, WR

  29. New England Patriots: DaQuan Jones, NT, Penn State
This pick makes sense even with the Ra’Shede Hageman first-round selection. Vince Wilfork was re-signed, but he won’t be around much longer. The Patriots need a long-term solution at nose tackle.

  30. San Francisco 49ers: Ahmad Dixon, S, Baylor
The 49ers spent a first-round pick on a safety last year, but they may have to use another selection on one with Donte Whitner signed on with the Browns.

Pick change; previously Pierre Desir, CB

  31. Denver Broncos: Trent Murphy, DE/OLB, Stanford
The Broncos lost Robert Ayers and Shaun Phillips, so they might be interested in addressing their depth at defensive end, all while finding a potential successor for DeMarcus Ware.

Pick change; previously Gabe Jackson, G

  32. Minnesota Vikings: Craig Loston, S, LSU
The Vikings did a good job of addressing their pedestrian secondary this offseason, but they still need a safety next to Harrison Smith.

Pick change; previously Telvin Smith, OLB

  33. Pittsburgh Steelers: Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss
The Steelers signed Lance Moore to replace Jerricho Cotchery, but he’s just a temporary solution.

  34. Green Bay Packers: Jared Abbrederis, WR, Wisconsin
The Packers lost James Jones to the Raiders, so they may want to add another receiver.

  35. Baltimore Ravens: Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU
Baltimore added Steve Smith, which I thought was an awful move (go here for my NFL Free Agent Grades), but regardless of my opinion, the Ravens are still in the market for a long-term No. 2 option for Joe Flacco.

Pick change; previously Jack Mewhort, OT

  36. San Francisco 49ers: Logan Thomas, QB, Virginia Tech
The 49ers have so many picks that they’ll probably use a mid-rounder on a developmental quarterback. Jim Harbaugh has shown interest in Logan Thomas.

Pick change; previously Ahmad Dixon, S
