2023 NFL Draft Grades - Round: Picks 1-16 | Picks 17-32 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | NFL Draft Team Grades

  1. Chicago Bears: Travis Bell, DT, Kennesaw State – C Grade
Travis Bell is pretty limited athletically and comes from a school where he didn’t face much competition. He may have a hard time making the roster.

  2. Detroit Lions: Antoine Green, WR, North Carolina – B- Grade
Antoine Green was an inconsistent player at North Carolina. He has some deep speed ability, but he’ll need to be a more consistent player to make it in the pros.

  3. New York Jets: Zack Kuntz, TE, Old Dominion – B+ Grade
Zack Kuntz was one of the most athletic tight ends at the combine. I thought he’d go a bit earlier as a result, but the Jets are getting a good value and a potential weapon for Aaron Rodgers.

  4. Indianapolis Colts: Jaylon Jones, CB, Texas A&M – A+ Grade
Jaylon Jones is an instinctive cornerback with good speed and athleticism. He also provides major value for a Colts team that really needed cornerback help. I had Jones in the third round, so I love this value.

  5. Minnesota Vikings: DeWayne McBride, RB, UAB – B Grade
There’s talk that Dalvin Cook could be traded, so DeWayne McBride might be the No. 2 running back of the future. McBride is a power back, but he lacks speed and agility. Still, he’s a fine pick in the seventh round.

  6. Los Angeles Rams: Ethan Evans, P, Wingate – B Grade
Wingate sounds like Boris College. We’re not sure if it’s real, but apparently it is.

  7. Atlanta Falcons: Demarco Hellams, S, Alabama – B- Grade
Demarco Hellams needs to show improved pass-coverage ability. That’s not something you want to hear about a safety. Still, he can help in run support at least.

  8. Atlanta Falcons: Jovaughn Gwynn, C/G, South Carolina – C+ Grade
Jovaughn Gwynn is a scrappy and versatile interior blocker, but he will have trouble making the roster because of his severe size limitations.

  9. Jacksonville Jaguars: Cooper Hodges, OT/G, Appalachian State – B Grade
Cooper Hodges is a tough run blocker, but may have to move from tackle to guard in the pros. The Jaguars could use another guard, so that should be just fine. Hodges makes sense in this range.

  10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Raymond Vohasek, DT, North Carolina – C Grade
I’m surprised Raymond Vohasek was drafted. He’s not a good pass rusher, and he has a very sketchy injury history. He’ll have trouble making the roster.

  11. Tennessee Titans: Colton Dowell, WR, UT-Martin – B- Grade
Colton Dowell has plus size and hands, but doesn’t have much speed or run-after-the-catch skills. Still, given the Titans’ poor receiving corps, he might be able to make the final roster.

  12. Baltimore Ravens: Andrew Vorhees, G/OT, USC – A+ Grade
The Ravens found a gem in the seventh round. Andrew Vorhees is a very versatile and smart offensive lineman whom I expected to be chosen in the third or fourth round. I’m shocked he fell this far, but Baltimore won’t complain.

  13. Buffalo Bills: Nick Broeker, G/OT, Ole Miss – A Grade
Nick Broeker is a versatile lineman who can play tackle and guard. He’ll be very useful as a backup because of his ability to play multiple positions. I thought he would have been chosen much earlier than this.

  14. Las Vegas Raiders: Nesta Jade Silvera, DT, Arizona State – B+ Grade
Nesta Jade Silvera is solid in run support, but needs to improve his pass-rushing ability. Having him around to help versus the rush will help in some matchups. He might be able to make the final roster.

  15. Green Bay Packers: Carrington Valentine, CB, Kentucky – B Grade
Carrington Valentine is a cornerback with some upside, but he was very inconsistent during his time at Kentucky. I’m fine with this pick, given the potential.

  16. Washington Redskins: Andre Jones, DE, Louisiana-Lafayette – C+ Grade
Andre Jones was productive at Louisiana-Lafayette, but I don’t see how he can make it in the NFL at the moment, given his lack of strength and overall size. He really needs to fill out his frame to have a shot.

  17. Los Angeles Rams: Jason Taylor, S, Oklahoma State – B+ Grade
Jason Taylor was one of the top performers at the combine among the safeties, both in the workout numbers and on-field drills. Thus, I’m shocked he fell this far. The Rams won’t complain, as they had to find a replacement for Taylor Rapp. I like this value.

  18. Green Bay Packers: Lew Nichols, RB, Central Michigan – C+ Grade
Lew Nichols runs with good power and vision, but he lacks upside as someone with very limited speed. He also doesn’t have much receiving ability. I would have liked to have seen a player with more upside with this pick.

  19. Indianapolis Colts: Jake Witt, OT, Northern Michigan – B Grade
Jake Witt was drawing some late interest as a final-round pick, so I’m not surprised to see him be drafted at this spot. Jake Witt is a lengthy and athletic lineman, but needs to get much stronger for the pros.

  20. Seattle Seahawks: Kenny McIntosh, RB, Georgia – A- Grade
Another running back? This would be much better if the Seahawks didn’t waste a much earlier pick. Kenny McIntosh is a great receiver out of the backfield, and I thought he would go way earlier than this.

  21. Miami Dolphins: Ryan Hayes, G/OT, Michigan – A Grade
The Dolphins desperately needed to address their offensive line. I thought Ryan Hayes had a chance to sneak into Day 2, so I love this value. Ryan Hayes has versatility as a tackle and guard.

  22. Los Angeles Chargers: Max Duggan, QB, TCU – A Grade
Max Duggan is another prospect who easily could have gone much earlier than this. Max Duggan has no elite traits, but he’s an accurate quarterback who can scramble. He has good potential to be a career No. 2 quarterback.

  23. Jacksonville Jaguars: Derek Parish, DE/OLB, Houston – C+ Grade
Derek Parish is an explosive pass rusher, but the problem is that he has a very small frame and lacks strength. He’s a situational player at the very best.

  24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Cory Trice, CB, Purdue – B+ Grade
Cory Trice is a tall, lengthy cornerback with upside. However, he has a dubious injury history, which is why he fell to the seventh round. The floor is low, but there is definite upside.

  25. Green Bay Packers: Anthony Johnson, CB, Virginia – B+ Grade
Anthony Johnson is a big cornerback who may not be agile enough to run with speed receivers. I thought he could go earlier than this, however, so I like this value for Green Bay.

  26. New York Giants: Jordon Riley, NT, Oregon – B Grade
Jordon Riley is a massive 340-pound nose tackle. He showed some surprising agility at his pro day, but keeping his weight under control will be an issue. He’s worth a shot here in the seventh round.

  27. Dallas Cowboys: Jalen Brooks, WR, South Carolina – C+ Grade
Jalen Brooks is a receiver with speed concerns and poor hands. He’s a good route runner, but there are plenty of holes in his game.

  28. New England Patriots: Isaiah Bolden, KR, Jackson State – B Grade
Isaiah Bolden is listed as a cornerback, but he could be New England’s kick returner. He scored two kickoff touchdowns in 2021, so I’m all for taking someone like that at this spot.

  29. Cincinnati Bengals: D.J. Ivey, CB, Miami – B+ Grade
D.J. Ivey is a solid late-round cornerback prospect with nice size. He has some speed concerns, but nothing major. He could have gone a round or two earlier.

  30. San Franciso 49ers: Brayden Willis, TE, Oklahoma – B+ Grade
Brayden Willis is undersized, but he’s an excellent blocker. It’s a fine time to draft blocking tight ends in the seventh round.

  31. Houston Texans: Brandon Hill, S, Pittsburgh – C+ Grade
Brandon Hill is an undersized safety who struggles to tackle. I didn’t think he would be drafted, but we’re entering UDFA territory anyway.

  32. Philadelphia Eagles: Moro Ojomo, DT, Texas – A- Grade
Moro Ojomo is a good prospect, but happens to be a tweener. I thought he would go earlier than this, as I had him in the fifth round, so this is solid value in the seventh round.

  33. Kansas City Chiefs: Nic Jones, CB, Ball State – B- Grade
Nic Jones is a high-effort player with very limited upside. I’d rather have someone with more potential here, but Jones can be a very good special teams player.

  34. Pittsburgh Steelerss: Spencer Anderson, C, Maryland – C+ Grade
I didn’t have Spencer Anderson anywhere near my mocks. He’s a high-effort lineman, but lacks upside and struggles with technique. I don’t see him making the final roster.

  35. Buffalo Bills: Alex Austin, CB, Oregon State – B+ Grade
Alex Austin is a good athlete with quality size. He has nice potential, so I like this pick. He’s a raw player, so he needs development, but you have to swing for the fences in the final round.

  36. San Franciso 49ers: Ronnie Bell, WR, Michigan – B Grade
Ronnie Bell is a smart receiver with quality route-running ability. He’s a limited athlete, however, so there’s not much upside for the final round.

  37. New York Giants: Gervarrius Owens, S, Houston – B- Grade
Gervarrius Owens has decent athleticism and size for a safety. However, he’s very raw and lacks instincts, which is not good for a safety.

  38. San Franciso 49ers: Jalen Graham, LB, Purdue – B- Grade
Jalen Graham is a small linebacker who struggles to tackle. He can cover well, but he’s going to be abused in run support. He may have to stick to special teams.

  39. Green Bay Packers: Grant DuBose, WR, Charlotte – B- Grade
Grant DuBose has nice size at 6-2, 200, but he lacks speed and separation ability. This pick doesn’t have much upside.

  40. Denver Broncos: Alex Forsyth, C, Oregon – A Grade
Alex Forsyth was solid in run blocking and pass protection last year at Oregon. I’m surprised he went so late; I thought he could have been taken early on Day 3.

  41. Chicago Bears: Kendall Williamson, S, Stanford – B+ Grade
Kendall Williamson is a tough safety who plays well versus the run and has good instincts. He’s not a good athlete at all, but he could fight for a role.

  42. Los Angeles Rams: Desjuan Johnson, DT, Toledo – B- Grade
Desjuan Johnson is an explosive player, but he’s undersized and lacks length. There’s not much room for growth here from this year’s Mr. Irrelevant.
