*** 2019 NFL MOCK DRAFT (3 rounds) updated Dec. 13. This mock draft will be updated occasionally. Check out old versions of this 2019 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock section. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***

  1. San Francisco 49ers: Nick Bosa, DE, Ohio State
The Cardinals and Raiders may have prevailed in meaningless games recently, but the true winner has been San Francisco. The 49ers can now hold an auction for Justin Herbert in an attempt to acquire more early-round selections. We know John Lynch loves to wheel and deal, so I’d have to believe that he gets something done.

I’ll project some trades in the future, but for now, let’s assume there aren’t any deals. If the 49ers are on the clock, and Nick Bosa is available, it’s almost a lock that they’ll pick him. San Francisco struggles to pressure the quarterback consistently, and Bosa would fix that.

Bosa has a tremendous skill set, and he was off to a great start in 2018 before injuring his knee. He should still be a top-five pick.

  2. Arizona Cardinals: Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama
The Cardinals failed to secure a replacement for Calais Campbell yet again this past offseason, but I have to believe that general manager Steve Keim is well aware of how loaded the 2019 NFL Draft class is of defensive linemen. As bad as Arizona needs blockers for Josh Rosen, it won’t be able to pass up on one of the four stud defensive tackles.

Quinnen Williams had a breakout performance this season, and sources Charlie Campbell spoke to early in the season believed Williams would be a high first-round pick.

Pick change; previously Ed Oliver, DT

  3. Oakland Raiders: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
Oakland’s top need is edge rusher, but the defensive tackles available at this juncture are better prospects, so I don’t see the Raiders eschewing one of those. Oakland has some quality interior defensive linemen, but none of them are elite studs like someone they can select third overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Derrick Brown has great size (6-5, 316) and tons of upside. He can be a great interior disruptor if he lives up to his potential.

Pick change; previously Quinnen Williams, DE

  4. Atlanta Falcons: Ed Oliver, DT, Houston
The Falcons were expected to address their defensive line during the draft, but the spend too much energy doing it. They’ll need to make amends for that next spring.

Ed Oliver was a highly productive defensive lineman for Houston, recording a ridiculous 22.5 TFLs as a freshman. He was a monster this season before getting hurt and currently projects to be a top-five pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Pick change; previously Jeffery Simmons, DT

  5. New York Jets: Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State
The Jets don’t need a five-technique, but that was also the case when they drafted Leonard Williams, given that they had Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson on the roster. You can never wrong going with the top option on the board.

Jeffrey Simmons is an extremely disruptive interior force, but was found guilty of simple assault charges. He could be a top-five pick if teams are fine with his off-the-field issues, as he has an amazing blend of power and athleticism.

Pick change; previously Derrick Brown, DT

  6. Buffalo Bills: Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida
The Bills absolutely need to improve Josh Allen’s protection and receiving talent. It could be argued that Buffalo has the worst offensive line in the NFL.

Jawaan Taylor has some great feet for his size (6-5, 340) and could emerge as the first tackle off the board.

  7. Jacksonville Jaguars: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
The Jaguars need a franchise quarterback, as it’s obvious that they need to move on from Blake Bortles. But who knows, maybe they’ll give Bortles another extension this summer. If not, this would make sense.

Justin Herbert played in just eight games last year, but has some major potential. He was accurate, completing 67 percent of his passes, and he also has nice size at 6-6, 225. He had a monster game versus Stanford and appears to now be the consensus top quarterback in this class. There’s been talk that Herbert will go back to school, but it’s still early in the process, and he still has time to make the correct decision.

Pick change; previously Dwayne Haskins, QB

  8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: DeAndre Baker, CB, Georgia
The Buccaneers’ issues at cornerback are well publicized. They’ve been torched by nearly every quarterback this year, which is a problem, given that they share a division with Drew Brees, Matt Ryan and Cam Newton.

DeAndre Baker had a terrific 2017 campaign, showing great athleticism. He’s been great this season as well, especially against LSU.

  9. Detroit Lions: Devin White, LB, LSU
The Lions have one of the worst linebacking corps in the NFL. They can’t cover anyone over the middle of the field. They need to add a player who can become the leader of their defensive unit at the position. If they do so, perhaps they’ll finally be able to compete with some of the top teams in their division.

Devin White was extremely productive this past season, logging 133 tackles. A projected running back, White is still learning the position, which is crazy considering how great he was in 2017. White is already generating a buzz for the 2019 NFL Draft, as Charlie Campbell reported in the NFL Hot Press.

  10. New York Giants: Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State
It’s extremely unlikely that the Giants will land the top quarterback prospect in the class at No. 10 overall. Some team will trade up for him. Perhaps New York will do it. If so, the Giants will certainly pay the price for not benching Eli Manning during the bye week, as they should have.

Giants ownership pushed for a quarterback prior to the 2018 NFL Draft, but general manager David Gettleman opted for Saquon Barkley instead. This looks to be the correct choice, but after what has transpired this year, I can’t imagine Gettleman going against ownership’s wishes again.

Dwayne Haskins has a tremendous skill set, but is not a finished product at the moment. He should return to school, but figures to be a top-20 pick if he declares.

Pick change; previously Justin Herbert, QB

  11. Cincinnati Bengals: A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss
The Bengals need to find more weapons for Andy Dalton. That includes a second receiver to start across from A.J. Green, while Tyler Boyd plays in the slot. Green, by the way, sneakily turns 31 this offseason, so it’s time to start thinking about a successor.

A.J. Brown has a tremendous athleticism, and he’s been a great weapon for Ole Miss the past couple of years despite their turmoil.

Pick change; previously Albert Okwuegbunan, TE

  12. Green Bay Packers: Josh Allen, DE/LB, Kentucky
The Packers are desperate for defensive help almost everywhere, so it makes sense for them to target a talented defender who can play almost anywhere.

Josh Allen has great size, speed and athleticism, and he also has the versatility to play multiple positions. He’s compared to as a hybrid of Leonard Floyd and Zach Cunningham, as he can play in coverage and also rush the quarterback effectively on the edge.

  13. Cleveland Browns: Raekwon Davis, DE/DT, Alabama
The Browns have a strong defensive line, but they could use an interior player who can generate a heavy pass rush and help stop the run. This would take their defensive front over the top.

Raekwon Davis had a dominant performance in the national championship to cap off his excellent 2017 season in which he logged 8.5 sacks.

  14. Washington Redskins: Drew Lock, QB, Missouri
The Redskins need to figure out their quarterbacking situation. Alex Smith may never play again, while Colt McCoy clearly isn’t the long-term answer. They’ll have to think about spending their first-round pick on a potential franchise signal-caller.

Drew Lock has a great arm and can make any throw, but he really needs to work on his field vision and accuracy. He should probably be taken in the second round, but we’ve seen teams reach for quarterbacks over the years.

  15. Carolina Panthers: Deionte Thompson, S, Alabama
The Panthers are in dire need of help in their secondary. Whether it’s cornerback or safety, they need to take the best player available at one of those two positions.

Deionte Thompson has a great blend of size (6-2, 196), speed and athleticism. He’s been very productive replacing Minkah Fitzpatrick.

  16. Philadelphia Eagles: Greedy Williams, CB, LSU
If you’ve watched a single game of the Eagles this year, you know they need cornerback help. They’ve been torched by every single quarterback they’ve played, as their secondary has been an abomination sorely in need of help.

Greedy Williams had a spectacular freshman season with six interceptions. Williams has great size (6-2, 182) and quickness, and he has top-10 upside.

Pick change; previously Cody Ford, G
