  1. Cleveland Browns: Orlando Brown, OT, Oklahoma
The Browns have a strong offensive line when everyone’s healthy. Their lone liability has been at right tackle, which they can address with this pick.

  2. New York Giants: Bryce Love, RB, Stanford
Shane Vereen is an impending free agent, so the Giants will need a new running back. Orleans Darkwa, Wayne Gallman, Paul Perkins… all of these players are pedestrian. New York needs an upgrade here, and it would get that with Bryce Love, who could be chosen in the first round.

Pick change; previously Damien Harris, RB

  3. Cleveland Browns: Trenton Thompson, DT, Georgia
The Browns have the foundation for a great defensive front, but they need another talent next to Danny Shelton to help rush the passer.

Pick change; previously Maurice Hurst, DE/DT

  4. Indianapolis Colts: Sony Michel, RB, Georgia
Jim Irsay hinted that his team would use an early-round selection on a running back. Saquon Barkley would be ideal at No. 3 overall, but he’s not available in this version of my mock draft.

Pick change; previously Nick Chubb, RB

  5. New York Jets: Derrius Guice, RB, LSU
The Jets need a new starting running back. Bilal Powell is a nice weapon, but New York has to find someone who can carry a full workload.

  6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ronald Jones, RB, USC
The Buccaneers took a chance on Doug Martin this season, and it backfired. Martin has been lethargic, and he was finally benched for fumbling. Tampa Bay will be looking for a running back early in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Pick change; previously Sony Michel, RB

  7. Chicago Bears: Rashaan Evans, DE/OLB, Alabama
Pernell McPhee is a good player, but he hasn’t been the most reliable person on the roster for the Bears. He’s missed 10 games the past two years, so Chicago may part ways with him in the offseason because it would clear $7 million off the salary cap. If so, the Bears will be looking for a new edge rusher to pair with Leonard Floyd.

  8. Denver Broncos: Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Boise State
The Broncos were going to consider Haason Reddick if he fell to them in the 2017 NFL Draft, so it would make sense if they addressed their linebacker situation at this juncture. They can’t cover tight ends and pass-catching running backs.

Pick change; previously Josh Allen, LB

  9. Oakland Raiders: Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia
The Marshawn Lynch signing has mostly been a failure, so the Raiders need to move on from him and find a new starting running back.

Pick change; previously Damien Harris, RB

  10. Miami Dolphins: Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina
The Dolphins could add another offensive weapon. Addressing tight end makes sense, as I don’t have much hope for Julius Thomas.

  11. New England Patriots: Austin Bryant, DE, Clemson
The Patriots will be getting Derek Rivers back from injury next year, but they may decide that he’s not enough to bolster their pass rush. Getting a third potent edge rusher to go along with Rivers and Trey Flowers would make sense.

Pick change; previously Nick Chubb, RB

  12. Washington Redskins: Kerryon Johnson, RB, Auburn
There are going to be numerous running backs selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The Redskins need to consider taking one. Neither Robert Kelley nor Samaje Perine happens to be the long-term answer at the position.

Pick change; previously Ronald Jones, RB

  13. Green Bay Packers: Darius Leonard, LB, South Carolina State
The Packers have needed help at linebacker for a long time. With a new general manager, perhaps they’ll finally address this area.

Pick change; previously Iman Marshall, LB

  14. Cincinnati Bengals: Connor Williams, OT, Texas
No one should be surprised if the Bengals double up on offensive linemen in the first few rounds in the 2018 NFL Draft, based on how the blocking unit has performed.

Connor Williams has taken a dive in recent mock draft updates as a result of Charlie’s report in the NFL Hot Press that teams have a mid-round grade on the Texas tackle.

  15. Arizona Cardinals: Equanimeous St. Brown, WR, Notre Dame
Larry Fitzgerald will move into second place all time on the receiving-yardage list early next season, but that only means that he’s close to retirement – unless he remains in the NFL until 2023 to break Jerry Rice’s records! Regardless, Arizona needs a new receiver to eventually take over as the top downfield target.

  16. Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Reid, S, Stanford
Everyone thought the Chargers would select Malik Hooker No. 7 overall. They went with Mike Williams instead, so here’s their chance to obtain an upgrade at safety. They’ll need one if Tre Boston, who has played well this year, departs via free agency this spring.

  17. New York Jets: Mike Hughes, CB, Central Florida
The Jets spent their first two picks in last year’s draft on safeties. They need to focus on the other position in the secondary this time, as they have a major weakness at cornerback.

  18. Dallas Cowboys: Antonio Callaway, WR, Florida
The Cowboys could use another threat in the receiving corps, and they’ve shown that they’re willing to take chances on troubled players. Antonio Callaway has some major off-the-field issues, but some team could give him a shot in the second round.

  19. Detroit Lions: Nick Nelson, CB, Wisconsin
The Lions have an outstanding cornerback in Darius Slay, but they really need another strong option at the position.

Pick change; previously Ken Webster, CB

  20. Baltimore Ravens: Anthony Averett, CB, Alabama
Unless Brandon Carr takes a big pay cut, I can’t see him being back next year. The Ravens could pursue another cornerback early in the draft if Carr leaves.

  21. Buffalo Bills: Mark Andrews, TE, Oklahoma
The Bills need to give their new quarterback – whoever that may be – another weapon to work with. Another tight end to go along with Charles Clay could definitely be an option.

  22. Kansas City Chiefs: Ken Webster, CB, Ole Miss
The Chiefs were so desperate for cornerback help that they signed Darrelle Revis, who was atrocious against his former team. Kansas City has to target a cornerback early.

Pick change; previously J.C. Jackson, CB

  23. Carolina Panthers: Harold Landry, DE/OLB, Boston College
Julius Peppers and Charles Johnson aren’t going to be around for much longer. Mario Addison is the only significant edge rusher on the roster right now that Carolina will have in the a couple of years, so the Panthers could go after a defensive end in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Pick change; previously Parris Campbell, WR

  24. Buffalo Bills: R.J. McIntosh, DT, Miami
The Bills traded away Marcell Dareus and know that Kyle Williams won’t be around much longer. They’ll need to add some new talent to the defensive interior, especially with Adolphus Washington failing to live up to his third-round billing. General manager Brandon Beane didn’t draft Washington, so he could move on from him.

Pick change; previously Isaiah Wynn, G

  25. Tennessee Titans: Dorance Armstrong, DE/OLB, Kansas
Brian Orakpo appears to be slowing down a bit, while Kevin Dodd hasn’t shown that he can be an NFL-caliber player yet. There’s a good chance the Titans spend an early draft choice on an edge rusher to start across from Derrick Morgan.

  26. Atlanta Falcons: Duke Ejiofor, DE, Wake Forest
The Falcons have three defensive linemen set to hit free agency next spring, so this is an area they could attack in the 2018 NFL Draft.

  27. Jacksonville Jaguars: Brian O’Neill, OT, Pittsburgh
Tom Coughlin loves bolstering the trenches. He’s gotten poor play out of left tackle Cam Robinson, so perhaps he’ll move Robinson inside if he can obtain a new blind-side protector for Blake Bortles.

Pick change; previously Andre Dillard, OT

  28. San Francisco 49ers: Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M
The 49ers will have Pierre Garcon back next year, but they need a second receiver to pair with him to give Jimmy Garoppolo more weapons to work with.

  29. Minnesota Vikings: Chad Thomas, DE, Miami
Brian Robison has stated that he’s going to retire after 2018, so the Vikings will need some new talent behind Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter.

  30. Pittsburgh Steelers: Terrell Edmunds, LB/S, Virginia Tech
I mentioned the Ryan Shazier situation in the opening round. It’s unfortunate, but there’s a chance Shazier may never play again, so the Steelers will be on the lookout for an early inside linebacker.

Pick change; previously Darius Leonard, LB

  31. Cleveland Browns: Jerome Baker, LB, Ohio State
Jamie Collins hasn’t lived up to expectations thus far, and he’s getting paid more than $10 million in each of the next couple of seasons. The Browns could decide to go healthier and cheaper.

Pick change; previously Darius Leonard, LB

  32. New England Patriots: Maurice Hurst, DE/DT, Michigan
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Patriots doubled up on interior defensive linemen, as they need to bolster their inside pass rush.

Pick change; previously Dorance Armstrong, DE/OLB
