2021 NFL Draft Grades - Round: Picks 1-16 | Picks 17-32 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | NFL Draft Team Grades

  1. Indianapolis Colts: Mike Strachan, WR, Charleston – B Grade
I had Mike Strachan going around this range. He makes sense for the Colts, who were expected to address their receiver need earlier than this. I like this as a solid value pick.

  2. Las Vegas Raiders: Jimmy Morissey, C, Pittsburgh – A Grade
I thought Jimmy Morissey would be chosen much earlier than this, as I had him pegged in the fourth- or fifth-round range. The Raiders did well to grab a great value, and Morissey could even fill an immediate need at center, created by the departure of Rodney Hudson.

  3. Miami Dolphins: Larnel Coleman, OT, UMass – B Grade
This is the Dolphins’ first pick since No. 81, which is kind of nuts. It’s also nice that the Dolphins were able to obtain another offensive lineman to help protect Tua Tagovailoa. I had Larnel Coleman in the seventh round of one of my updates, so the range makes sense.

  4. Carolina Panthers: Phil Hoskins, DT, Kentucky – C+ Grade
I didn’t think the Panthers needed another defensive tackle, and I didn’t have Phil Hoskins drafted in my mock. I’m not a fan of this pick, but it’s the seventh round, so it’s not too bad.

  5. Los Angeles Rams: Jake Funk, RB, Maryland – B Grade
The Rams lost Malcolm Brown, so the Rams wanted to add a third running back to join Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson. I mocked Jake Funk in the seventh round, so this makes sense.

  6. Philadelphia Eagles: Patrick Johnson, DE, Tulane – C+ Grade
Doug Pederson is gone, but the Eagles are still spending several picks to address the trenches. This is their third Day 3 pick spent on a defensive lineman. I didn’t have Patrick Johnson in my mock, but the seventh round is the time to scoop up priority UDFAs.

  7. Cincinnati Bengals: Wyatt Hubert, DE, Kansas State – B Grade
Wyatt Hubert didn’t make my final mock, but he was slotted in the seventh round in a previous update. The Bengals are trying to load up their roster with as many pass rushers as possible to stop the dynamic offenses in the AFC North, so this pick makes sense to me.

  8. Buffalo Bills: Jack Anderson, G, Texas Tech – B Grade
Jack Anderson nearly made the cut in my final mock draft. It makes sense that the Bills would add more offensive line depth to protect Josh Allen. Outside of an injury to Allen, a season could derail if there are multiple injuries to the blocking group.

  9. Denver Broncos: Kary Vincent Jr., CB, LSU – A Grade
Bryce Callahan hasn’t been able to stay healthy consistently, so the Broncos did well to find a possible replacement. Kary Vincent Jr. was someone I pegged in the fifth round, so I’m a fan of this value.

  10. Dallas Cowboys: Matt Farniok, G, Nebraska – B Grade
It’s no surprise that the Cowboys addressed the offensive line once again, given what occurred last year. Matt Farniok never made my mock draft, but I like the upside because he’s so athletic for his position.

  11. Denver Broncos: Jonathon Cooper, DE/OLB, Ohio State – B Grade
I mocked Jonathon Cooper 10 picks later than this, so the value makes sense to me. The Broncos had to find edge-rushing depth, especially considering Von Miller’s off-the-field issues. Cooper could contend to start once Miller leaves the team.

  12. Washington Redskins: William Bradley-King, DE/OLB, Baylor – B+ Grade
I put William Bradley-King into my seventh round, 18 picks earlier than this. A pass rusher obviously wasn’t needed, but it’s nice that the Redskins were able to get some depth. Bradley-King is an athletic player with upside, so this is a solid choice.

  13. Los Angeles Chargers: Mark Webb, CB, Georgia – B Grade
Mark Webb has nice size and ball skills, but there are some major speed concerns. Those weren’t answered by his 4.61 40-yard dash. Still, it makes sense to take him in the seventh round in case those issues don’t end up being a big deal.

  14. New England Patriots: Tre Nixon, WR, Central Florida – B+ Grade
The Patriots’ receiving corps is an abomination, so it’s shocking that they waited this long to address the need. I had Tre Nixon in the final couple of rounds in some of my mock updates. He’s a good athlete with some upside, so he could compete for some snaps.

  15. Arizona Cardinals: James Wiggins, S, Cincinnati – A- Grade
I mocked James Wiggins a round earlier than this, so I’m a fan of the value the Cardinals are getting in the middle of the seventh round. Wiggins is very athletic and possesses great upside, so Wiggins has a decent chance to make something of himself in the pros.

  16. Miami Dolphins: Gerrid Doaks, RB, Cincinnati – C+ Grade
It’s wild that the Dolphins waited this long for a running back. Gerrid Doaks is not the answer – he wasn’t on my radar as a draftable prospect – so Miami will have to move into the 2021 season without a strong ground attack.

  17. Pittsburgh Steelers: Tre Norwood, S, Oklahoma – B- Grade
Tre Norwood is a limited athlete and doesn’t have much size or upside. He nearly made the seventh round of my mock draft, but never did. It makes sense for the Steelers to acquire some defensive back depth, but a player with more upside would have been better.

  18. Washington Redskins: Shaka Toney, DE/OLB, Penn State – A Grade
The Redskins really want to make sure that they have quality pass-rushing depth. I’m fine with doubling down on the position, especially when considering that Shaka Toney was available. I had Toney in the fifth round, so I love the value the Redskins are getting with this incredibly athletic edge rusher.

  19. Arizona Cardinals: Michael Menet, C, Penn State – A Grade
Protecting the brittle Kyler Murray is extremely important, so I’m a fan of the Cardinals using this selection on Michael Menet. The Penn State product was slated in the fifth round of my mock, so this is definitely a nice value selection.

  20. Indianapolis Colts: Will Fries, G, Penn State – C+ Grade
I didn’t have Will Fries as a draftable prospect. He’s not lengthy enough to be a tackle, and he’s not strong enough to be a guard. I don’t know where he fits as an NFL player, but we’re almost done, so I won’t go below a C+.

  21. Los Angeles Rams: Ben Skowronek, WR, Notre Dame – B Grade
I don’t think I would have gone with a third receiver if I were the Rams, but this is pick No. 249, so it’s not a big deal. I had Ben Skowronek mocked eight picks earlier than this, so the range is obviously something with which I agree.

  22. Chicago Bears: Khyris Tonga, NT, BYU – B Grade
Khyris Tonga nearly made the cut in my mock draft. He’s a monstrous and strong nose tackle who could fight for playing time if there are injuries in the interior of Chicago’s defensive line.

  23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Chris Wilcox, CB, BYU – B+ Grade
I didn’t have Chris Wilcox mocked, but his upside is intriguing. He’s a big cornerback (6-2, 198) with great athleticism (he ran 4.39 in the 40.) The Buccaneers are swinging for the fences with Wilcox’s potential.

  24. Los Angeles Rams: Chris Garrett, LB, Concordia – C+ Grade
Chris Garrett was not on my radar at all. He’s a mediocre athlete who will have to contribute on special teams to make the roster. The Rams could’ve done better, but we’re now in the 250s.

  25. Denver Broncos: Marquiss Spencer, DT, Mississippi State – B+ Grade
Marquiss Spencer makes sense to me as a seventh-round prospect. The Broncos needed defensive line depth after what occurred in November last year when Denver had a slew of injuries on the front. Spencer is a great athlete with nice upside.

  26. Pittsburgh Steelers: Pressley Harvin, P, Georgia Tech – B Grade
No, Rich Eisen, punters are not people, too. They are grotesque abominations. But the Steelers needed one, so that’s OK.

  27. New Orleans Saints: Kawaan Baker, WR, South Alabama – B+ Grade
Part of the reason why the Ian Book pick was so bad was that the Saints couldn’t address their many needs, including receiver. Better late than never, I guess. Kawaan Baker’s level of competition is a big question mark, but he’s an extremely athletic player.

  28. Green Bay Packers: Kylin Hill, RB, Mississippi State – A Grade
I’m shocked Kylin Hill lasted so long. I had him mocked in the third round! Even though the Packers didn’t need a running back with Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon signed on for so long, they were right to obtain this incredible value late in the draft.

  29. Detroit Lions: Jermar Jefferson, RB, Oregon State – B Grade
It’s going to be difficult for Jermar Jefferson to make the roster, given that the Lions have D’Andre Swift, Jamaal Williams and Kerryon Johnson. I imagine this is just injury insurance, which is fine, given that Jefferson was pegged as a seventh-round prospect.

  30. Washington Redskins: Dax Milne, WR, BYU – A Grade
Dax Milne is someone who was getting tons of hype in the months leading up to the draft, so I’m surprised he went off the board this late. He could have gone a couple of rounds earlier, so the Redskins are getting great value. I like this pick even though it doesn’t fill a need.

  31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Grant Stuard, LB, Houston – A Grade
Mr. Irrelevant definitely looks relevant to me. I had Grant Stuard in the fourth or fifth rounds of most of my mock draft updates, so I’m surprised he lasted until the final pick. The Buccaneers did well to help their linebacker depth and special teams.
