What does every team need to accomplish in the 2024 NFL Draft? We’ll look at each team’s goals on this page, as well as possible selections for each squad. See how the goals are being addressed in the 2024 NFL Mock Draft (will be updated tomorrow).
  1. Carolina Panthers Carolina Panthers:
The Panthers foolishly drafted C.J. Stroud over Bryce Young last year despite all the coaches wanting Stroud to be the pick. Whoops. The Panthers are stuck with Young because David Tepper thought he knew more than the football guys he hired, so they have no choice but to build up their supporting cast to carry Young. Adding a running back, a receiver, and an offensive line would help tremendously.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    33. Adonai Mitchell, WR
    39. Cooper DeJean, CB
    65. Trey Benson, RB
    101. Theo Johnson, TE

If you haven’t visited the site in a while, you may have noticed the new look. Yes, after nearly two decades, we’ve finally re-designed our site to be more modern. This was not done on a whim, but rather out of necessity because of what occurred during the 2023 NFL Draft. Our site crashed during the entire first day of the draft, which was disastrous for our revenue stream because we make more money during the draft than any other time. The site crashed because a line of code conflicted with the old format of the site, so we had to transition to this new look.

Because we lost so much money during the draft, I want to point out that you can really help support the site by paying for the ad-free version of it at the top. It’s $7.99 per month, but you’ll get a super-fast site with no ads. If you don’t want to pay, please spread the word about the site through word of mouth. That would also be a big help!

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

Also, if you’d like to support the site, check out my book! It’s available on Amazon, and it’s called A Safety and a Field Goal.

    Take a look:

You can buy it here. It has some NFL Draft-related topics, so like I said, if you want to support the site, this is a great way to do it!

  2. Washington Redskins Washington Redskins:
The Redskins will be drafting their franchise quarterback at No. 2. After that, it’s all about bolstering the trenches. The Redskins have major problems with their blocking and lackluster pass rush, so both of those areas could be addressed in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Redskins also have some major holes at cornerback and tight end that must be addressed.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    2. Jayden Daniels, QB
    36. Jordan Morgan, OT
    40. Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB
    67. Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE
    78. Jonathon Brooks, RB
    101. Mohamed Kamara, DE/OLB

  3. New England Patriots New England Patriots:
The Patriots won’t have their pick of the quarterback litter like the Redskins did beyond Caleb Williams. The Patriots may get their third preference, but that’s still an upgrade over what they’ve had in recent years at the position. New England has very little else on offense, so it needs to surround this new quarterback with as much talent as possible.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    3. Jayden Daniels, QB
    34. Adonai Mitchell, WR
    68. Kingsley Suamatia, OT
    103. Ja’Lynn Polk, WR

  4. Arizona Cardinals Arizona Cardinals:
The Cardinals have lots of holes, so they need more resources. They also lack top-end talent, so trading up after moving out of No. 4 makes a lot of sense as well. Reports indicate that the Cardinals would love to move down, so we’ll have to see if they end up being the first team on the move.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    6. Malik Nabers, WR
    27. Quinyon Mitchell, CB
    35. Graham Barton, G
    66. Ennis Rakestraw, CB
    71. Ruke Orhorhoro, DT
    90. Bralen Trice, DE
    104. Bucky Irving, RB

  5. Los Angeles Chargers Los Angeles Chargers:
The Chargers lost so many pieces offensively, so they’ll need to replenish Justin Herbert’s arsenal. Two receivers, a running back, and a tight end are needed. And yet, John Harbaugh told the media that he wants to “beef up” the offensive line, so that’s another area the Chargers must address.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    5. Marvin Harrison Jr., WR
    37. Graham Barton, G
    69. Trey Benson, RB
    105. Jahiem Bell, TE
    110. Ja’Lynn Polk, WR

  6. New York Giants New York Giants:
It would be irresponsible of the Giants to reach for a quarterback at No. 6, given how many needs they have on their roster. It would be Daniel Jones all over again. So, the Giants would be better off bolstering the offensive line and finding upgrades at receiver and running back to give Jones a legitimate chance to succeed.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    6. Malik Nabers, WR
    47. Kingsley Suimataia, OT
    70. Jonathon Brooks, RB
    107. Brenden Rice, WR

  7. Tennessee Titans Tennessee Titans:
Will Levis is still a big question mark. His career could go one of two ways depending on how much talent the Titans surround him with during the 2024 NFL Draft. They already signed Calvin Ridley in free agency, but there’s still lots of work to be done, as Tennessee needs to find a left tackle, some other offensive line upgrades, and another receiver.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    7. Joe Alt, OT
    38. Xavier Legette, WR
    106. Tanor Bortolini, G/C

  8. Atlanta Falcons Atlanta Falcons:
The Falcons eschewed all the quarterback prospects in this class by signing Kirk Cousins. The former Viking quarterback gives Atlanta a legitimate chances to make a deep run into the playoffs. There are still some issues, however, and most of them apply to the defensive side of the ball. The Falcons must improve their pass rush and cornerback group so they can battle the top offenses of the NFC.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    8. Dallas Turner, DE
    43. Xavier Worthy, WR
    74. Ennis Rakestraw, CB
    79. Ruke Orhorhoro, DT
    109. Beaux Limmer, G

  9. Chicago Bears Chicago Bears:
The Bears will land their franchise quarterback at No. 1. It gets more interesting after that, as Chicago has a well-rounded roster with some specific holes. Plugging those areas will be key, but Chicago must focus on giving Caleb Williams as much support as possible so he can succeed quickly in the NFL.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    1. Caleb Williams, QB
    9. Rome Odunze, WR
    75. Jonah Elliss, DE
    122. Calean Carson, CB

  10. New York Jets New York Jets:
The Jets have made it known that they are all in for this and perhaps next year with Aaron Rodgers. They need to continue to give Rodgers weapons and protection. They could also explore trading down because they don’t have a second-round pick.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    10. Brock Bowers, TE
    72. Malachi Corley, WR
    111. Patrick Paul, OT
    113. Calen Bullock, S
    134. Michael Pratt, QB

  11. Minnesota Vikings Minnesota Vikings:
The Vikings have made it clear that they’re trading up for a quarterback. They acquired Houston’s first-round pick, so they have more ammo than any team in the 11-16 range to trade up for a franchise signal-caller. Ideally, the Vikings wouldn’t reach for one. They also need to bolster their weak defense, which had no answer for Jordan Love in a late meeting last year.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    4. Drake Maye, QB
    108. Calean Carson, CB
    129. DeWayne Carter, DT

  12. Denver Broncos Denver Broncos:
Of all the teams outside the top three in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Broncos are the most desperate for a quarterback. The only players at the position on their roster are Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci, and there’s no way the organization can sell their fans on that duo. However, it’s important for the Broncos to not reach for a quarterback. In fact, they would be wise to trade down because they have one of the weakest rosters in the NFL.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    22. Michael Penix Jr., QB
    53. Marist Liufau, LB
    76. Roman Wilson, WR
    121. Bud Clark, S

  13. Las Vegas Raiders Las Vegas Raiders:
The Raiders don’t have a quarterback at the moment, so they could draft one at No. 13. It would be ideal if they could somehow leapfrog the Vikings for Drake Maye, but that may not be realistic. If the Raiders don’t move up, trading back would make sense in order to accumulate more picks.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    4. Drake Maye, QB
    77. Patrick Paul, OT
    112. Blake Corrum, RB

  14. New Orleans Saints New Orleans Saints:
The Saints have just two picks in the top 149, so they would be wise to trade down and accumulate more talent across the board. What they should really do is tank in 2024 for one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they will continue to be stuck in an 8-9/9-8 quagmire.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    28. Chop Robinson, DE
    45. Keon Coleman, WR
    60. Cam Hart, CB

  15. Indianapolis Colts Indianapolis Colts:
The Colts nearly made the playoffs last year with a backup quarterback playing most of the season, so they’re on the verge of becoming a team that can compete deep into the playoffs. Wide receiver and tight end should be addressed to get the most out of Anthony Richardson, but the Colts don’t have any glaring needs, so they can afford to draft the best player available otherwise.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    15. Terrion Arnold, CB
    46. Troy Franklin, WR
    82. Theo Johnson, TE
    117. Trevin Wallace, LB

  16. Seattle Seahawks NFL Draft 2024 Seattle Seahawks:
The Seahawks don’t have a second-round pick, so I imagine they would want to trade down to accumulate more resources. They really need to address their defensive line once again, but the main issue is the interior of the offensive front, which lost three starters to free agency. The Seahawks also need to find a potential quarterback for the future.

Ideal 2024 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    28. Graham Barton, G
    60. T’Vondre Sweat, DT
    81. Sedrick Van Pran, C
    102. Bud Clark, S
    118. Michael Pratt, QB

  17. Washington Commanders Washington Redskins:
The Redskins seem set on giving Slingin’ Sammy Howell a chance to quarterback the team next year. They’ll need to give him better protection, but the greater priority is finally addressing the secondary and linebacking corps, which have been huge areas of need for many years.

Ideal 2023 NFL Draft (First Four Rounds):
    16. Brian Branch, CB/S
    47. Henry To’o To’o, LB
    97. Emil Ekiyor, G/C
    118. Eli Ricks, CB
