The order of this 2023 NFL Mock Draft is often determined by the NFL Power Rankings, but for this update, it’s determined by the projected record in the NFL Season Previews for 2022.

*** This mock draft will be updated occasionally. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***

  1. Las Vegas Raiders: Zach Evans, RB, Ole Miss Ole Miss
This could be Josh Jacobs’ final season with the Raiders. I imagine a new running back will be drafted.

Zach Evans is undersized, but explosive.

  2. Pittsburgh Steelers: Brian Branch, CB, Alabama Alabama
The Steelers can continue to bolster their miserable pass defense by addressing their big need at cornerback.

Brian Branch has nice size and cover ability.

Pick change; previously Anton Harrison, OT

  3. Detroit Lions: Jack Campbell, LB, Iowa Iowa
Detroit has major problems covering the middle of the field. Linebacker has been an issue for quite some time.

Jack Campbell has the size and athleticism to be a three-down player in the NFL.

Pick change; previously Hendon Hooker, QB

  4. Washington Redskins: Clark Phillips, CB, Utah Utah
The Redskins need to address their secondary, as they’ll need to find an answer at both cornerback and safety.

Clark Phillips has some size issues, but has plenty of talent as a potential slot corner.

Pick change; previously Brandon Joseph, CB

  5. Carolina Panthers: Jaxon Kirkland, G, Washington Washington
The Panthers need to continue to strengthen their offensive line.

Jaxon Kirkland can play right tackle, but seems like a better fit at guard.

  6. Houston Texans: Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee
The Texans couldn’t address their quarterback situation in the first round, so here’s their new potential franchise quarterback.

Hendon Hooker is a dual-threat quarterback enjoyed a great season for Tennessee.

Pick change; previously Zion Nelson, OT

  7. Cleveland Browns: Will McDonald, DE, Iowa State Iowa State
Cleveland’s pass rush is a bit weak outside of Myles Garrett. This is a problem, given how many great passing attacks reside in the AFC.

Will McDonald is a fast and athletic edge rusher.

  8. New Orleans Saints: Noah Sewell, LB, Oregon Oregon
The Saints had interest in Quay Walker at No. 19, but opted for a tackle instead. Here’s the linebacker help they were seeking.

  9. Seattle Seahawks: Sikai Ika, NT, Baylor
The Seahawks are very weak to the run, as everyone discovered when Cordarrelle Patterson ran all over them. They’ll need some help in the interior of their defensive front.

Sikai Ika is a massive nose tackle who can apply a bit of pressure on the quarterback.

  10. Seattle Seahawks: Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida Florida
Can Geno Smith continue his terrific play? If not, the Seahawks will need to obtain a quarterback for the future.

Anthony Richardson is raw, but has a huge arm and great athleticism. He had a great 2022 debut, but struggled versus Kentucky the following week.

Pick change; previously Tyree Wilson, DE/DT

  11. Arizona Cardinals: Brandon Joseph, CB, Notre Dame Notre Dame
The Cardinals have a weak group of cornerbacks, which is an issue against the Rams’ offense. They could double up on corners.

Brandon Joseph is a turnover machine as a cornerback with great instincts.

Pick change; previously Emmanuel Forbes, CB

  12. Los Angeles Rams: Nolan Smith, DE, Georgia Georgia
The Rams really miss Von Miller, so they’ll have to find a new edge rusher.

Nolan Smith needs to get stronger, but he has great speed off the edge.

  13. Cincinnati Bengals: Ereck Ali, TE, Michigan
Cincinnati had strong interest in Trey McBride in the second round, but he was plucked off the board before the team was on the clock.

Ereck Ali is a fast tight end who blocks well.

  14. New England Patriots: Malachi Moore, CB/S, Alabama Alabama
Bill Belichick loves his versatile defensive backs. He’ll need one with Devin McCourty nearing retirement.

Malachi Moore is an instinctive defensive back who can play anywhere in the defensive backfield.

  15. Jacksonville Jaguars: Zacch Pickens, DT, South Carolina
The Jaguars have been searching for a replacement for Calais Campbell for quite some time, and I don’t think it’s out of the question that they’d double up on defensive linemen.

Zacch Pickens had a great ’21 campaign. He has plus size, quickness and athleticism.

  16. Chicago Bears: Zion Nelson, OT, Miami
The Bears need everything, and that includes a left tackle because Teven Jenkins looks like a bust.

Zion Nelson was inconsistent this past season, but he has the potential to break out eventually.

Pick change; previously Nick Broeker, OT/G

  17. Atlanta Falcons: Zach Harrison, DE, Ohio State
The Falcons have lacked a dynamic pass rush since the days of John Abraham. This area must be addressed at some point.

Zach Harrison has nice potential with his athletic ability.

  18. Indianapolis Colts: Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State Mississippi State
Stephon Gilmore is just a temporary solution. The Colts need a new corner for the long haul.

Emmanuel Forbes is a feast-or-famine cornerback.

Pick change; previously Joey Porter Jr., CB

  19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jaren Hall, QB, BYU BYU
The Buccaneers need a future replacement for Tom Brady, as Kyle Trask has not shown any signs of being a franchise quarterback.

Jaren Hall is a rushing threat who has a quality arm.

  20. Los Angeles Chargers: Nick Broeker, OT/G, Ole Miss
The one weakness on the Chargers’ offensive line continues to be right tackle.

Nick Broeker may have to switch to guard in the NFL.

Pick change; previously Paris Johnson, OT/G

  21. New York Jets: Demarvioun Overshown, LB, Texas Illinois
The Jets are weak in the middle of the field, so they could stand to upgrade their linebacking corps.

Demarvioun Overshown was flying all over the field at times in ’21.

  22. Miami Dolphins: Storm Duck, CB, North Carolina
Miami may trade Byron Jones at some point, given the rumors always circulating about him being dealt.

Storm Duck is a tall cornerback, and advance scouts are high on his ability.

  23. Green Bay Packers: B.J. Ojulari, DE/OLB, LSU LSU
The Packers should add another talented edge rusher so they don’t have to blitz as often.

B.J. Ojulari did a great job of taking over for the injured Ali Gaye in 2021.

Pick change; previously Davis Allen, TE

  24. San Francisco 49ers: Dontay Demus Jr., WR, Maryland Maryland
The 49ers are thin at receiver, so they should add some talent at the position.

Dontay Demus Jr. suffered a season-ending torn ACL in October 2021, but could still be a first-round pick because of his size (6-3) and athleticism.

Pick change; previously Akeem Dent, S/CB

  25. Tennessee Titans: Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame Notre Dame
It’s been a while since the Titans have possessed a potent tight end. Perhaps they’ll draft one early this upcoming April.

The next NFL tight end to come out of Notre Dame, Michael Mayer murdered opponents with high production over the middle of the field.

  26. Baltimore Ravens: Eli Ricks, CB, Alabama Alabama
Between the improved passing attacks in the conference, and the issues at the position last year, the Ravens must address cornerback.

Eli Ricks is a 6-2 cornerback who had a breakout season for Alabama.

Pick change; previously Brian Branch, CB

  27. Dallas Cowboys: Jammie Robinson, S, Florida State
The Cowboys could stand to improve their secondary to help complement their pass rush.

Jammie Robinson has been a solid run defender for Florida State.

  28. New York Giants: Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois Illinois
The Giants need to find a new cornerback to replace James Bradberry. They also need a second cornerback, so they could double up at the position.

Devon Witherspoon is not quite six feet, but he has incredible speed.

  29. Minnesota Vikings: Dontayvion Wicks, WR, Virginia
Adam Thielen doesn’t have much time remaining, so the Vikings may want to add a young receiver.

Dontayvion Wicks is a lengthy receiver who broke out during his ’21 season.

  30. Kansas City Chiefs: Cameron Latu, TE, Alabama
Travis Kelce will turn 34 after the 2023 NFL Draft, so the Chiefs will need to think about finding a successor.

Cameron Latu has good size and athleticism.

  31. Buffalo Bills: O’Cyrus Torrence, G, Florida
The Bills still have a hole at guard they need to plug.

O’Cyrus Torrence is a huge interior blocker with surprising atleticism.

  32. Philadelphia Eagles: Julian Brents, CB, Kansas State
The Eagles were considering a cornerback at No. 18 before they traded the pick for A.J. Brown.

Julian Brents is a 6-3 cornerback who is a hard tackler.
