*** 2020 NFL MOCK DRAFT (2 rounds) updated Sept. 4. This mock draft will be updated occasionally. Check out old versions of this 2020 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock section. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***

  1. Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
The Dolphins have made it known that they are tanking, and that became clear when they dealt Laremy Tunsil and Kenny Stills. Miami is the worst team in my NFL Power Rankings, and they’re 2019 NFL Season Previews. It acquired Josh Rosen, but that doesn’t matter. Teams have selected plenty of first-round quarterbacks after using a pick in the second frame on a signal-caller the year before. The Cardinals even established precedent for doing so with consecutive first-rounders!

The hero of the national championship against Georgia, Tua Tagovailoa has a big arm and scrambling ability, and will undoubtedly draw comparisons to Russell Wilson.

  2. Las Vegas Raiders: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
Jon Gruden didn’t address his quarterback situation at all in the 2019 NFL Draft. Perhaps he had an eye on the 2020 class, which is far superior at the position (and overall as well.)

Justin Herbert had an up-and-down 2018 season, which included a great performance against Stanford. He was considered the top quarterback prospect for the 2019 NFL Draft before making the mistake of returning to school, where he’ll risk injury and regression.

  3. Washington Redskins: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
The relationship between Trent Williams and the Redskins is fractured, according to reports. Williams may never play for Washington ever again, meaning the team will need to find a new left tackle to protect Dwayne Haskins.

Andrew Thomas has been very impressive, using his great athleticism and length. NFL personnel believe he has tremendous potential.

  4. Cincinnati Bengals: Chase Young, DE, Ohio State
The Bengals worked out or hosted defensive ends more than any other position leading up to the 2019 NFL Draft, but they didn’t address the position. Here’s their chance to find a dynamic edge rusher.

Chase Young has enjoyed a breakout season in the wake of Nick Bosa’s injury. He’s a very athletic edge player with great size (6-5, 265).

  5. New York Giants: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
We all know the Giants’ issues at receiver. Sterling Shepard is just mediocre, while Golden Tate won’t be around too long. New York needs to replace Odell Beckham Jr.

Jerry Jeudy is a height-weight-speed freak in the mold of a Julio Jones. He’s the next great Alabama receiver, and if he performs up to his skill set, he’ll have a great chance to be a top-10 pick.

  6. Arizona Cardinals: Derrick Brown, DE/DT, Auburn
The Cardinals have needed a strong presence on the defensive line ever since losing Calais Campbell to the Jaguars. Here’s a great replacement for Campbell.

Derrick Brown has great size (6-5, 316) and tons of upside. He can be a great interior disruptor if he lives up to his potential. He had a chance to be a top-five pick (No. 4 overall?) in the 2019 NFL Draft before he returned to school.

  7. Baltimore Ravens: A.J. Epenesa, DE/OLB, Iowa
The Ravens selected Marquise Brown in the opening round of the 2019 NFL Draft, but I get the sense that they were hoping Clelin Ferrell would fall to them. They need to find replacements for Terrell Suggs and Za’Darius Smith.

A.J. Epenesa was a five-star recruit who showed some major promise as a freshman, registering 4.5 sacks. He was excellent in 2018.

  8. Detroit Lions: Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado
The Lions got some great years out of Golden Tate, but they never really replaced Calvin Johnson as far as finding a dynamic No. 1 receiver is concerned. Here’s their chance to do so.

Laviska Shenault drew rave reviews during spring practices preceding the 2018 campaign, and he didn’t disappoint. The 6-foot-2 play-maker was college football’s best receiver as a mere sophomore (at least prior to his injury.)

  9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia
The Buccaneers will give Jameis Winston one more chance this season. If he continues to play very inconsistently under Bruce Arians, or if he continues to grope Uber drivers, he won’t be back for 2020. Given that Tampa landed the No. 6 pick in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft, it’s safe to say that in this scenario, Winston did one of the two. If so, Tampa will move on from him.

Jake Fromm was tremendous as a rookie for SEC champion Georgia. He has a great skill set and was the very early favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He struggled versus LSU, but that doesn’t appear to be a downward trend.

  10. Denver Broncos: Grant Delpit, S, LSU
The Broncos have some talented cornerbacks, but their safety play can get much better. Luckily for them, there are some skilled safeties available in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Grant Delpit is an exceptional talent who figures to be a top-10 prospect when he declares.

  11. Tennessee Titans: Raekwon Davis, DE/DT, Alabama
The Titans were interested in Christian Wilkins, but the Clemson stud never reached their pick. They took another Tiger, Dexter Lawrence, but they still need another defensive lineman to join him and Jurrell Casey.

Raekwon Davis had a dominant performance in the national championship win over Georgia to cap off his excellent 2017 season in which he logged 8.5 sacks.

  12. Dallas Cowboys: Isaiah Simmons, S, Clemson
The Cowboys were talking to the Seahawks about trading for Earl Thomas. They failed to sign Thomas in free agency, so they’ll be interested in someone like this.

Isaiah Simmons flew all around the field and was a physical presence for Clemson this year.

  13. Miami Dolphins: D’Andre Swift, RB, Georgia
The Dolphins need to add tons of talent around Tua Tagovailoa to give him a fighting chance. They have so many holes on offense that almost every position makes sense. D’Andre Swift might be the best offensive player on the board.

Swift lives up to his name concerning that attribute, but vision is his best strength.

  14. Minnesota Vikings: Walker Little, OT, Stanford
The Vikings upgraded their poor center situation in the 2019 NFL Draft. Now, they can work on fixing their horrible protection on the edge.

Walker Little was the 25th-overall player in his recruiting class. An athletic tackle who is proficient in both pass protection and run blocking, Little could be a top-five pick in the future.

  15. Los Angeles Chargers: Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
The Chargers could use an upgrade at cornerback across from Casey Hayward to help combat all of the Chiefs’ weapons.

Trevon Diggs, younger brother of Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs, began as a receiver at Alabama, but was tremendous this season at cornerback before suffering a foot injury.

  16. Seattle Seahawks: Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri
The Seahawks have needed a tight end ever since Jimmy Graham regressed. Here’s a great, intermediate weapon for Russell Wilson.

The athletic Albert Okwuegbunan had a coming-out party against Georgia and should be the first tight end off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft.
