*** 2019 NFL MOCK DRAFT (2 rounds) updated Sept. 13. This mock draft will be updated occasionally. Check out old versions of this 2019 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock section. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***

  1. Buffalo Bills: Ed Oliver, DT, Houston
The Bills lost Marcell Dareus via trade during the 2017 season. Kyle Williams will retire soon. They don’t have a viable replacement for either; Star Lotulelei was signed, but he’ll prove to be a bust.

Ed Oliver was a highly productive defensive lineman for Houston, recording a ridiculous 22.5 TFLs as a freshman. He was a monster this season and currently projects to be a top-five pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

  2. Detroit Lions: Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State
Wow, the Lions looked awful Monday night. The defense was expected to be atrocious, and that was certainly the case. Help is needed at every level, and I have to imagine that Detroit will be eager to pick up one of the stud defensive tackles in this class to finally replace Ndamukong Suh.

Jeffrey Simmons is an extremely disruptive interior force, but was found guilty of simple assault charges. He should be a top-five pick if teams are fine with his off-the-field issues, as he has an amazing blend of power and athleticism.

Pick change; previously Devin White, LB

  3. Arizona Cardinals: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
The Cardinals failed to secure a replacement for Calais Campbell yet again this past offseason, but I have to believe that general manager Steve Keim is well aware of how loaded the 2019 NFL Draft class is of defensive linemen.

Derrick Brown has great size (6-5, 316) and tons of upside. He can be a great interior disruptor if he lives up to his potential.

Pick change; previously Dexter Lawrence, DT

  4. Oakland Raiders: Nick Bosa, DE, Ohio State
This must be the no-brainer pick of the 2019 NFL Mock Draft, right? The Raiders traded Khalil Mack because they couldn’t afford to pay both him and Derek Carr obscene contracts, and that’ll be fine if they can replace Mack with one of the stellar edge rushers in the upcoming draft class.

Nick Bosa has a tremendous skill set, and he has been very productive for Ohio State in 2017 thus far after recording five sacks last year.

Pick change; previously Brian Burns, DE

  5. Miami Dolphins: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
The Dolphins will give Ryan Tannehill one more chance in 2018 after not drafting a quarterback. Tannehill will have failed if Miami has the fifth-overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, so it’ll be looking for a new franchise signal-caller.

Justin Herbert played in just eight games last year, but has some major potential. He was accurate, completing 67 percent of his passes, and he also has nice size at 6-6, 225.

  6. Indianapolis Colts: Raekwon Davis, DE/DT, Alabama
The Colts, once again, should target the best player available. This time, they can focus on their defensive front, which I believe they would have done had Bradley Chubb been available.

Raekwon Davis had a dominant performance in the national championship to cap off his excellent 2017 season in which he logged 8.5 sacks.

  7. Cleveland Browns: Greg Little, OT, Ole Miss
The Browns need to find a replacement for Joe Thomas. I have to imagine that this is something they’ll target early in the 2019 NFL Draft, which has some nice tackle prospects.

Greg “Mr. Reliable” Little was a five-star recruit coming out of high school. He’s an athletic left tackle who could become a top-10 pick.

  8. Seattle Seahawks: Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson
The Seahawks lost several key defenders this offseason, including Sheldon Richardson and Michael Bennett. A new force in the defensive interior is needed.

Dexter Lawrence is a monster of a defensive tackle (6-5, 340) and is exceptional at both stuffing the run and pressuring the quarterback.

Pick change; previously Derrick Brown, DT

  9. Tennessee Titans: Greedy Williams, CB, LSU
The Titans are stacked at cornerback right now, but Logan Ryan will be due $9.5 million entering his contract year in 2019, so he could be a cap casualty. Besides, they are taking one of the best players available.

Greedy Williams had a spectacular freshman season with six interceptions. Williams has great size (6-2, 182) and quickness, and he has top-10 upside.

Pick change; previously Greedy Williams, CB

  10. New York Giants: Jarrett Stidham, QB, Auburn
General manager Dave Gettleman passed on Sam Darnold, but I have a feeling that he’ll stubbornly eschew the signal-callers again, opting to always go the veteran route. I could see him going after Nick Foles as a free agent next offseason. Still, this is definitely an option.

Jarrett Stidham struggled early in his first year at Auburn, but improved as the season progressed. He eventually knocked off Alabama and Georgia. Sources told Charlie Campbell that scouts have been very impressed with Stidham. You can read about it in the NFL Hot Press.

  11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson
The Buccaneers added some talented edge rushers this offseason, but they were veteran guys like Vinny Curry and Jason Pierre-Paul who won’t be around for a long time. Tampa can add its edge rusher of the future with this pick.

Clelin Ferrell has elite athleticism, and he could’ve been a top-15, or even a top-10 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft had he declared (perhaps No. 6 overall to the Colts.)

Pick change; previously Nick Bosa, DE

  12. New York Jets: Joe Jackson, DE, Miami
Some Jet fan e-mailers were furious that their team didn’t add an edge rusher in the previous draft. My response was that this was more than just a short rebuilding process, and I’m sure general manager Mike Maccagnan was well aware that the 2019 NFL Draft will be loaded with edge rushers.

Joe Jackson has been very productive for Miami, thanks to his great speed, length and size.

Pick change; previously Clelin Ferrell, DE

  13. Dallas Cowboys: Rashan Gary, DE/DT, Michigan
David Irving has off-the-field problems and will be a free agent entering the 2019 offseason. Considering Dallas’ salary-cap woes, it could be difficult for the team to retain him, and they may not even want to because of his issues.

Rashan Gary is an athletic freak. He wasn’t extremely productive as a freshman, but he recorded five sacks and 11 tackles for loss in 2017. His teammates believe he’ll be a top-10 pick.

Pick change; previously Dre’Mont Jones, DT

  14. Denver Broncos: Zach Allen, DE/DT, Boston College
The Broncos could address their defensive front seven again if they get this sort of value. Derek Wolfe’s health is always a concern, while Adam Gotsis has off-the-field concerns.

Zach Allen needs to develop more pass-rushing moves, but he has a nice combination of size and strength, and he happens to be a stout run defender and a quality pass-rusher.

Pick change; previously Rashan Gary, DT

  15. Pittsburgh Steelers: Devin White, LB, LSU
The Steelers failed to replace Ryan Shazier this past offseason. They’ll struggle defensively again this year, so they’ll need to make sure they finally obtain someone who can fill Shazier’s shoes.

Devin White was extremely productive this past season, logging 133 tackles. A projected running back, White is still learning the position, which is crazy considering how great he was in 2017. White is already generating a buzz for the 2019 NFL Draft, as Charlie Campbell reported in the NFL Hot Press.

Pick change; previously Joe Jackson, DE

  16. Jacksonville Jaguars: Drew Lock, QB, Missouri
The Jaguars gave Blake Bortles a new contract, but it’s a team-friendly deal they can get out of easily. I imagine they’ll want to after the 2018 season.

Drew Lock has a great arm and can make any throw, but he really needs to work on his field vision and accuracy.
