The order of this 2016 NFL Mock Draft based on the NFL Power Rankings.

*** This mock draft will be updated occasionally for important events. Check out old versions of this 2016 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock section. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***

  1. Oakland Raiders: Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State
The Raiders are fine now at left tackle with Donald Penn stationed there at the moment. However, Penn is entering his contract year, and given that he’ll turn 33 prior to the 2016 season, Oakland may want to find a long-term blind-side protector.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

Pick change; previously Emmanuel Ogbah, DE

  2. Washington Redskins: Corey Robinson, WR, Notre Dame
Teams usually like complementing their new quarterback with a weapon or a blocker. The former makes sense here, as Pierre Garcon has never taken to Jay Gruden’s system.

Pick change; previously Eddie Jackson, CB

  3. Cleveland Browns: Marquez North, WR, Tennessee
The Browns have to use an early-round pick on a receiver eventually, right? They can’t keep going with retreads.

Pick change; previously Corey Robinson, WR

  4. San Francisco 49ers: O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama
Vernon Davis won’t be on the 49ers much longer, and former second-rounder Vance McDonald hasn’t shown any signs that he’s worthy of taking over as the starter.

  5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: James Conner, RB, Pittsburgh
The Buccaneers are keeping Doug Martin around for another year, but unless he reverts back to his rookie form, he won’t be around much longer. A new running back will be needed.

  6. Chicago Bears: Tyler Johnstone, OT, Oregon
The Bears drafted a center, but they need more than just one upgrade on their horrific offensive line. They need to consider someone better at right tackle than Jordan Mills, so why not another blocking Duck?

Pick change; previously Jack Conklin, OT

  7. Tennessee Titans: Zack Sanchez, CB, Oklahoma
The Titans never got a chance to address their secondary this past draft because they were fixing their offense. They’ll have to fix their defensive backfield next spring.

Pick change; previously Will Redmond, CB

  8. New York Jets: Jared Goff, QB, California
The Jets obviously need a quarterback because neither Ryan Fitzpatrick nor Geno Smith will be successful in 2015, and Bryce Petty is just a backup-caliber quarterback. The issue is that by signing Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie, New York has effectively taken itself out of contention for Cardale Jones and perhaps even Christian Hackenberg.

Pick change; previously Vadal Alexander, G

  9. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jack Allen, C, Michigan State
The Jaguars signed Stefen Wisniewski, but that was just to a 1-year deal, so they may need a new center after this season.

  10. New Orleans Saints: Josh Augusta, DE/DT, Missouri
There have been rumors about Cameron Jordan being traded, but the Saints didn’t bother addressing the defensive end position in the draft.

  11. Atlanta Falcons: Vadal Alexander, G, LSU
The guard position is another spot on the offensive line that the Falcons could have upgraded in the 2015 draft. They can do so with a second-day selection next April.

Pick change; previously Marquez North, WR

  12. New York Giants: Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor
The Giants had a big need at defensive tackle entering the 2015 draft, but never addressed it. They need an upgrade next to Johnathan Hankins.

  13. St. Louis Rams: Karl Joseph, S, West Virginia
The Rams will have some contract issues at safety next offseason, with Rodney McLeod and Mark Barron both set to hit the market.

  14. Miami Dolphins: Darron Lee, DE/OLB, Ohio State
With Cameron Wake entering the latter stages of his career and Olivier Vernon hitting free agency soon, the Dolphins may want to add another pass-rusher.

  15. Detroit Lions: Will Redmond, CB, Mississippi State
The Lions added a cornerback in the middle of the 2015 draft, but I don’t think that was enough to offset the eventual loss of Rashean Mathis. A new No. 1 corner will be needed soon.

Pick change; previously Demarcus Robinson, WR

  16. Kansas City Chiefs: Max Redfield, S, Notre Dame
Considering Eric Berry’s unfortunate status, I’m surprised that the Chiefs didn’t make the safety position more of a priority in the previous draft.

  17. Cincinnati Bengals: Sheldon Day, DT, Notre Dame
The Bengals spent their first two selections on offensive tackles when tackles of the defensive variety would’ve made more sense. Here’s someone Cincinnati could consider in the 2016 NFL Draft.

  18. Houston Texans: Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State
The Texans just extended Whitney Mercilus to a big deal – check out my Free Agent Signing Grades for analysis – but they could stand to add a third pass-rusher in their rotation. Plus, some insurance for Jadeveon Clowney wouldn’t hurt.

Pick change; previously Jared Goff, QB

  19. Minnesota Vikings: Le’Raven Clark, OT/G, Texas Tech
T.J. Clemmings might be Minnesota’s left tackle of the future, but the front office will have to look for a long-term left guard as well.

  20. Buffalo Bills: Reggie Ragland, ILB, Alabama
The Bills didn’t draft an inside linebacker early on because of Nigel Bradham. Unfortunately for them, Bradham will be entering free agency next March.

  21. Carolina Panthers: Germain Ifedi, OT, Texas A&M
The Panthers can’t possibly keep neglecting the offensive line. Sure, Cam Newton can scramble, but he needs some protection.

  22. St. Louis Rams: Pharoh Cooper, WR, South Carolina
DeVante Parker was in play for the Rams at No. 10, but they liked Todd Gurley better. Here’s a receiver if they still want to upgrade the position.

  23. San Diego Chargers: Anthony Zettel, DE/DT, Penn State
The Chargers didn’t have the best play from their defensive line last season. If that continues, they’ll have to spend an early-round choice on an upgrade up front.

  24. New England Patriots: Eddie Jackson, CB, Alabama
Perhaps Bill Belichick will use a second-round pick next year on an actual need, rather than a late-round safety. I don’t get how New England failed to find replacements for Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner.

Pick change; previously Wayne Lyons, CB

  25. Arizona Cardinals: Dominique Alexander, ILB, Oklahoma
The Cardinals need to do something about their inability to defend tight ends. It’s shocking that they avoided this position in the previous draft.

  26. Denver Broncos: Charles Tapper, DE/DT, Oklahoma
The Broncos have a nice pair of starting defensive ends in Derek Wolfe and Malik Jackson, but both will be free agents after the 2015 season. It’ll be difficult to retain both.

  27. Dallas Cowboys: Alex Collins, RB, Arkansas
The Cowboys neglected the running back position, failing to find a replacement for DeMarco Murray. I imagine they’ll target a back early in the 2016 NFL Draft – perhaps someone from Jerry Jones’ alma mater.

  28. Pittsburgh Steelers: Rodney Hardrick, ILB, Oregon
Lawrence Timmons is going to be due close to $9 million in his contract season in 2016, so the Steelers may want to bring in some insurance for the inside linebacker spot.

  29. Green Bay Packers: Jordan Jenkins, DE/OLB, Georgia
Even if the Packers manage to move Clay Matthews back to outside linebacker, they’ll still need some depth at the position with Julius Peppers nearing retirement.

  30. Indianapolis Colts: Isaac Seumalo, C, Oregon State
Much like the Panthers, Indianapolis neglected its offensive line when it shouldn’t have. Andrew Luck is arguably the top quarterback in the NFL, but he needs at least somewhat decent protection.

  31. Baltimore Ravens: KeiVarae Russell, CB, Notre Dame
The Ravens have taken chances on troubled cornerbacks before and have seen positive results, so perhaps they’ll try that once more to fill the void across from Jimmy Smith.

  32. Seattle Seahawks: Nyeem Wartman, OLB, Penn State
The Seahawks lost their former Super Bowl MVP in free agency to the Raiders. I thought they’d address the position in this past draft, but they’ll have to wait until next offseason.
