*** 2015 NFL Mock Draft (3 rounds) updated Oct. 28. This NFL Mock Draft will be updated at least once per week (Tuesday afternoons and other times for important events.). Check out old versions of this 2015 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock draft section. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
TRADE! OK, a little too early to project trades, especially given that the draft order isn’t even close to being set yet, but if the Raiders are picking No. 1, as they were in this update, one of two things will happen: They’ll either fall in love with Marcus Mariota and pick him, much like the Panthers did with Cam Newton after spending a second-rounder on Jimmy Clausen; or they’ll auction off the top selection to the highest bidder. I’m projecting a trade here for the Raiders based on how Derek Carr performed against the Chargers (and somewhat versus the Browns). He showed promise, and what the Raiders plan on doing with him depends on how he finishes the season.

There will be plenty of interest from teams looking to land Mariota, and the Buccaneers might be most desperate after what has transpired in recent weeks. Tampa has to find a franchise quarterback to be competitive in the NFC South.

To move up to No. 1, the Buccaneers dealt the third-overall pick, their second-round selection and their 2016 first-rounder.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

  2. Jacksonville Jaguars: Leonard Williams, DE/DT, USC
If the Jaguars secure the top pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, they will trade it to the highest bidder. There are plenty of teams – Buccaneers, Jets, Rams, Texans, Titans, Raiders (if Derek Carr struggles), Browns (if they want to give up on Johnny Manziel and his antics) – that will be desperate to land Marcus Mariota. Jacksonville will deal the selection to the highest bidder.

It’s all moot because Jacksonville is picking second in this scenario, so I’m going to slot the top non-quarterback talent to them anyway. The Jaguars’ defensive line was projected to be a strength this year, but Sen’Derrick Marks has been the only consistent pass-rusher. The group isn’t nearly the team’s biggest weakness, but a better pass rush will mask issues in the back seven.

  3. Oakland Raiders: Randy Gregory, DE/OLB, Nebraska
I’ve mocked a left tackle here previously, but the Raiders would probably go with one of the elite pass-rushers in this scenario. Excluding Justin Tuck and Khalil Mack, no Oakland defender gets to the quarterback consistently. An upgrade is desperately needed across from Tuck, and Randy Gregory happens to be the top player available. He has the potential to go No. 1 if teams don’t rate Marcus Mariota very highly.

Pick change; previously Andrus Peat, OT

  4. Tennessee Titans: Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State
I’ve held off on giving the Titans a quarterback because I wanted to see how Zach Mettenberger would fare when given the opportunity. Mettenberger, who looked great in the preseason, finally got his chance against the Texans, but didn’t look like a legitimate starter. If he improves down the stretch, I’ll mock a different position to Tennessee, but as for now, I have to believe that the Titans will consider Jameis Winston.

There is so much controversy surrounding Winston, from the alleged sexual assault, to the crab legs, to the autographs, to his suspension for shouting a stupid meme in the student union (funny that the old farts running Florida State didn’t know what it meant). However, Winston is too talented not to go high in the first round.

Pick change; previously Randy Gregory, DE/OLB

  5. St. Louis Rams: Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State
Jeff Fisher’s tenure in St. Louis won’t be long unless he finds a solution at the signal-caller position. Fisher has overlooked character issues in the past, so I think he would take a chance on Jameis Winston, if the Florida State quarterback were available. Winston is not in this update, but there’s another quarterback who could go in the top 10. As Charlie Campbell reported last weekend, one NFL general manager believes that Connor Cook has high first-round potential.

Pick change; previously Jameis Winston, QB

  6. New York Jets: Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
Yes, even in the wake of the Percy Harvin trade. If all of the reports of Harvin being such a problematic character in the locker room are true, he’s not going to be on the Jets very long – especially at his salary. We’ll see what happens, but Amari Cooper is very much in play for the Jets at this moment.

  7. Minnesota Vikings: Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford
I had Todd Gurley here the past couple of updates as a successor for Adrian Peterson. I still think he’s a viable option, but I’d have to believe that the Vikings wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to draft the top left tackle in the class.

I don’t know what in the world happened to Matt Kalil, but he’s been one of the NFL’s worst offensive tackles this season. Teddy Bridgewater is throwing nothing but checkdowns right now, but perhaps that would change if he actually had some time in the pocket.

Pick change; previously Todd Gurley, RB

  8. Atlanta Falcons: Shane Ray, DE/OLB, Missouri
The Falcons can’t be too upset with obtaining Jake Matthews at No. 6 overall this past May – though he has recently struggled with an injury – but they were one pick away from landing Khalil Mack, who has been great for the Raiders thus far. Here’s their new edge rusher.

Pick change; previously Dante Fowler, DE

  9. Chicago Bears: Landon Collins, S, Alabama
What the Bears need most is for their quarterback to care, but they can’t find a solution for that in the 2015 NFL Draft. Instead, they can fix their ailing secondary that stood no chance against Tom Brady. Chicago’s issues at the safety position have been well-documented, so I doubt the front office would hesitate to pounce on the consensus No. 1 player at the position in this class.

Pick change; previously P.J. Williams, CB

  10. Washington Redskins: Brandon Scherff, OT/G, Iowa
Jason Whitlock said the Redskins were trying to focus on obtaining Jameis Winston with this pick when he ruined a recent episode of PTI. It’s more likely that they’ll either upgrade their secondary or find some protection for Robert Griffin. They haven’t been able to protect very well, and it’s disconcerting that third-round rookie Morgan Moses hasn’t been able to find his way into the starting lineup despite the team’s issues at right tackle.

Pick change; previously Shane Ray, DE/OLB

  11. Cleveland Browns: Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
Kevin White has dominated this season and is now a top-10 possibility. He lands just outside of the top 10 in this update, and the Browns would be extremely happy to have him, given their futility at the receiver position. It goes without saying that he would be a massive upgrade over Miles Austin.

Pick change; previously Leonard Floyd, DE/OLB

  12. Cleveland Browns: La’El Collins, OT/G, LSU
The Browns were considering finding an upgrade over right tackle Mitchell Schwartz this offseason, and they would’ve considered Greg Robinson if he fell to them. Schwartz didn’t play well in the preseason and has just been average in the early going, so here’s a possible solution.

Pick change; previously Brandon Scherff, OT/G

  13. Houston Texans: Cedric Ogbuhei, OT, Texas A&M
The Texans have won too many games to be in contention for one of the top three quarterbacks. Instead, they’ll have to make an upgrade elsewhere, and one area they could consider is the right tackle position. Derek Newton has looked like a human turnstile this season, so Houston could consider bolstering its blocking.

Pick change; previously Landon Collins, S

  14. Carolina Panthers: Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
Wide receiver and offensive tackle need to be upgraded the most, but the Panthers will be able to take the best player available by a wide margin in this scenario. Besides, it’s not like Carolina has an embarrassment of riches at the running back position. Todd Gurley, who could easily go in the top 10, would be a major upgrade.

For those who don’t believe three or four running backs will be chosen in the first round next spring, this class has stud players at the position, so it’s going to happen. Besides, Trent Richardson was chosen No. 3 overall a couple of years ago. If Richardson can go third, the more-talented Gurley can be chosen in the top 10.

Pick change; previously La’El Collins, OT/G

  15. New York Giants: Dante Fowler, DE, Florida
Jerry Reese never has any qualms about adding talented pass-rushers. Both Mathias Kiwanuka and Robert Ayers will be entering their contract years in 2015, so Reese may want to add a starter at defensive end for 2016 and beyond.

Pick change; previously Shilique Calhoun, DE

  16. Pittsburgh Steelers: P.J. Williams, CB, Florida State
Cortez Allen was so bad against the Colts that he was actually trending on Twitter. The Steelers are in desperate need of help at the cornerback position, and they’re definitely getting one of the better players available.

Pick change; previously Kevin White, WR
