The order of this 2014 NFL Mock Draft is based on my NFL Power Rankings.

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Bishop Sankey, RB, Washington
    Maurice Jones-Drew is an impending free agent. He’ll likely want to leave such a terrible situation, so the Jaguars will need to find a new running back.

  2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Cameron Erving, OT, Florida State
    Left tackle may not seem like an obvious need to outside observers, but the Buccaneers are incredibly frustrated with Donald Penn. Mike Glennon’s current blind-side protector is once again dealing with weight issues. Penn is due more than $6 million next year, so Tampa Bay could dump him in favor of a younger option.

  3. New York Giants: Christian Jones, LB, Florida State
    The Giants have one of the worst linebacking corps in the NFL. Something must be done about this. Jon Beason isn’t the answer.

  4. Pittsburgh Steelers: Brandon Coleman, WR, Rutgers
    With Mike Wallace gone, Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t have a legitimate deep threat at his disposal. Emmanuel Sanders is not a quality starter.

  5. Atlanta Falcons: Trent Murphy, DE/OLB, Stanford
    In addition to an outside linebacker hybrid, the Falcons need another defensive end to beef up their pathetic pass rush.

  6. Washington Redskins: Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
    The Redskins have the worst defense in the NFL. They looked completely helpless against the Eagles and Packers. Help is needed everywhere. DeAngelo Hall won’t be around much longer.

  7. Minnesota Vikings: A.J. McCarron, QB, Alabama
    The Vikings didn’t find a young quarterback this offseason because they didn’t want to hurt Christian Ponder’s confidence. However, if Ponder stinks again and Josh Freeman doesn’t show any promise, Minnesota may look into drafting a young signal-caller.

  8. Carolina Panthers: De’Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon
    Cam Newton is an inconsistent passer. He could really benefit from a potent, pass-catching weapon coming out of the backfield.

  9. Buffalo Bills: Loucheiz Purifoy, CB, Florida
    The Bills were expected to address the cornerback position in the 2013 NFL Draft, but never got around to it. They probably won’t avoid that area two years in a row. Justin Rogers can’t be allowed on the field anymore.

  10. St. Louis Rams: Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
    Cornerback wasn’t seen as a need about a month ago, but Cortland Finnegan has been torched by everyone this season. If he keeps struggling, the Rams will have to find someone new to play across from Janoris Jenkins.

  11. Philadelphia Eagles: Craig Loston, S, LSU
    Philadelphia’s defense is terrible for many reasons, one of which is the safety position. Nate Allen is garbage, while Patrick Chung can’t stay healthy.

  12. Oakland Raiders: Ka’Deem Carey, RB, Arizona
    Like the Jaguars, the Raiders will be faced with a running back heading for the market. Darren McFadden will probably head elsewhere.

  13. San Diego Chargers: Adrian Hubbard, DE/OLB, Alabama
    The Chargers were so desperate for help at rush linebacker that they signed Dwight Freeney. The former Colt is obviously not a long-term solution for the team’s pass-rushing woes.

  14. Houston Texans: Aaron Murray, QB, Georgia
    What the hell was Matt Schaub thinking when he tossed that pick-six to Richard Sherman? It’s time for Houston to move on.

  15. Green Bay Packers: Yawin Smallwood, ILB, Connecticut
    The Packers released Desmond Bishop in the offseason. On top of that, the rapidly aging A.J. Hawk will have an expiring contract soon. Ted Thompson will have to address the inside linebacker position in the near future.

  16. Cleveland Browns: Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
    The Browns need an upgrade over Buster Skrine, who’s currently starting across from Joe Haden.

  17. Tennessee Titans: Ben Gardner, DE, Stanford
    The Titans need to bring in someone to pressure the quarterback across from Derrick Morgan. Kamerion Wimbley hasn’t done anything this year.

  18. Arizona Cardinals: Stephen Morris, QB, Miami
    Carson Palmer has been dreadful the past few weeks. If his poor play continues, the Cardinals will have to look at a quarterback early in the 2014 NFL Draft. Stephen Morris would fit perfectly in Arizona’s offense.

  19. New York Jets: Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina
    Geno Smith needs better weapons. Kellen Winslow Jr. has done a solid job this season, but considering his injury history, he’s not a long-term solution.

  20. Miami Dolphins: Antone Exum, CB, Virginia Tech
    The Dolphins need help at cornerback. Brent Grimes, coming off a torn Achilles, is just a short-term solution. Dimitri Patterson shouldn’t be a No. 2 corner despite his interceptions against Cleveland (one bounced right into his hands off Greg Little). Miami drafted some young corners in April, but none of them have stepped up.

  21. Dallas Cowboys: Damian Swann, CB, Georgia
    The Cowboys need to think about bringing in someone to challenge Morris Claiborne, who has been in and out of the starting lineup because of performance issues.

  22. Chicago Bears: Quandre Diggs, CB, Texas
    The Bears will have to address their two cornerback positions next offseason, as Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings both have expiring contracts.

  23. Cincinnati Bengals: Jackson Jeffcoat, DE, Texas
    The Bengals drafted Margus Hunt, but they have Michael Johnson hitting free agency soon. With Carlos Dunlap recently extended, it’s very unlikely that Johnson will be retained.

  24. Baltimore Ravens: Jeremiah Attaochu, DE/OLB, Georgia Tech
    This may seem like an odd selection with Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervil both playing well, but Courtney Upshaw does not look like he’s developing into a potential starter down the road.

  25. Detroit Lions: Bryan Stork, C, Florida State
    Dominic Raiola has seemingly been on Detroit’s roster forever, but he’ll be a 35-year-old free agent in March. The Lions will probably bring in a new center.

  26. San Francisco 49ers: Dominique Easley, DE, Florida
    The 49ers will need a successor for Justin Smith (Tank Carradine, maybe?) and also some depth on the defensive line. With four Day 2 selections, they can take a chance on someone like Dominique Easley, a tremendous talent who is coming off a terrible injury.

  27. Indianapolis Colts: Stephon Tuitt, DE/DT, Notre Dame
    I mocked Datone Jones to the Colts for a while in the 2013 NFL Draft because they need a pass-rushing presence up front. That’s still a hole they have to fill.

  28. New England Patriots: Michael Dyer, RB, Louisville
    The Patriots, as we all know, like to take chances on troubled players. Michael Dyer would be a consensus first-round pick if he had a clean off-the-field history. New England may bring him in if Stevan Ridley’s fumbling problems persist.

  29. Seattle Seahawks: Gabe Jackson, G, Mississippi State
    The Seahawks have multiple areas of concern on their offensive line, including both guard spots. Imagine how potent Russell Wilson would be with upgraded protection.

  30. San Francisco 49ers: Josh Huff, WR, Oregon
    Anquan Boldin and Mario Manningham will both be free agents next March. The 49ers need a speed receiver to complement Michael Crabtree.

  31. New Orleans Saints: Ed Stinson, DE/DT, Alabama
    I mocked Sheldon Richardson to the Saints a couple of times last spring because they happen to be thin at defensive end in their new 3-4. That’s still the case.

  32. Denver Broncos: Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State
    The Broncos could be looking for more help at defensive tackle because they don’t have much of an interior pass rush.
