*** This mock draft will be updated at least once per week (Tuesday afternoons and other times for important events.). Check out old versions of this 2014 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock draft section. Follow @walterfootball for updates. ***

  1. Houston Texans: Jalen Saunders, WR, Oklahoma
The Texans don’t exactly have the deepest receiving corps, so they’ll probably take a wideout at some point.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

Pick change; previously Richard Rodgers, TE

  2. Washington Redskins: Tre Boston, S, North Carolina
The Redskins wanted to address the safety position this offseason. All they’ve done so far is bring Brandon Meriweather back and sign Ryan Clark, which is not enough.

Pick change; previously Josh Mauro, DE/DT

  3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Lorenzo Taliaferro, RB, Coastal Carolina
Toby Gerhart will probably prove to be a big disappointment, so the Jaguars should be prepared with another running back.

Pick change; previously James White, RB

  4. Cleveland Browns: Devon Kennard, DE/OLB, USC
Paul Kruger predictably failed to live up to his price tag this past season. The Browns may want to bring in another pass-rusher if they have plans on releasing Kruger after the 2014 season.

Pick change; previously Richard Rodgers, TE

  5. Houston Texans: Zach Kerr, NT, Delaware
The Texans don’t have much at nose tackle. They believe they can address the position in the middle rounds.

Pick change; previously Shamar Stephen, DE/DT

  6. Atlanta Falcons: Nevin Lawson, CB, Utah State
The Falcons could stand to add some corner depth, so they may want to try someone they coached at the Senior Bowl.

Pick change; previously Prince Shembo, DE/OLB

  7. Chicago Bears: De’Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon
The Bears need a running back behind Matt Forte, and De’Anthony Thomas would be a nice fit for Marc Trestman’s offense.

  8. Minnesota Vikings: Anthony Steen, G, Alabama
The Vikings can help their new quarterback (as well as Adrian Peterson) with improved interior offensive line play. Charlie Johnson, the weak link on the unit, was retained, but he can’t be a starter anymore. Vladimir Ducasse was added, but he may just be a backup.

Pick change; previously James Hurst, OT

  9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Antone Exum, CB, Virginia Tech
The Buccaneers could use some depth at cornerback and perhaps someone to eventually challenge Johnthan Banks.

Pick change; previously Ricardo Allen, CB

  10. Tennessee Titans: Deion Belue, CB, Alabama
The Titans addressed a bunch of areas on their roster this offseason, but one position of need that they didn’t get to fix was cornerback. They lost Alterraun Verner to the Buccaneers.

Pick change; previously Devon Kennard, DE/OLB

  11. New York Giants: Richard Rodgers, TE, California
The Giants won’t take Eric Ebron at No. 12, but they could spend a mid- or late-round selection on a tight end.

Pick change; previously Jonathan Dowling, S

  12. St. Louis Rams: A.C. Leonard, TE, Tennessee State
The Rams could use another tight end, and the athletic A.C. Leonard may eventually devleop into a starter.

Pick change; previously Justin Britt, OT

  13. Detroit Lions: Larry Webster, DE, Bloomsburg
The Lions will be interested in adding another defensive end after losing Willie Young to rival Chicago.

Pick change; previously Khairi Fortt, LB

  14. Miami Dolphins: Michael Schofield, OT, Michigan
The Dolphins almost have to spend multiple picks on offensive linemen, considering what happened last year.

  15. Chicago Bears: Daniel Sorensen, S, BYU
The Bears are a candidate to double up on the safety position, given how much of a problem it is for them.

  16. Pittsburgh Steelers: John Urschel, G, Penn State
The Steelers don’t have a big need for offensive linemen, despite what some might think, but they do have to find some depth.

Pick change; previously Ron Powell, DE/OLB

  17. Kansas City Chiefs: Avery Williamson, ILB, Kentucky
The Chiefs could use some competition at inside linebacker. They don’t have much outside of Derrick Johnson.

Pick change; previously Yawin Smallwood, ILB

  18. Baltimore Ravens: Charles Leno, OT/G, Boise State
The Ravens need some depth on their offensive line, so they could use a late-round selection on another blocker.

Pick change; previously Ryan Groy, G

  19. New York Jets: Dez Southward, S, Wisconsin
Here’s more safety help to fix one of the worst secondaries in the NFL.

  20. Arizona Cardinals: Howard Jones, DE/OLB, Shepherd
It wouldn’t surprise me if the Cardinals spent two picks on pass-rushers, considering their need.

  21. Green Bay Packers: Kapri Bibbs, RB, Colorado State
Ron Zook, an assistant coach with the Packers, tried to recruit Kapri Bibbs to Illinois, but failed to do so because of academics.

  22. New England Patriots: Bennett Jackson, CB, Notre Dame
Bennett Jackson is a good fit for the Patriots, who need cornerback depth.

  23. Cincinnati Bengals: Aaron Lynch, DE, South Florida
Here’s some more pass-rushing help for the Bengals, who won’t pay much attention to Aaron Lynch’s character issues.

Pick change; previously Trai Turner, G

  24. Kansas City Chiefs: Lonnie Ballentine, S, Memphis
The Chiefs could use depth at safety, and they’ve shown interest in Lonnie Ballentine.

Pick change; previously Devin Street, WR

  25. San Diego Chargers: Morgan Breslin, DE/OLB, USC
The Chargers may want to add another pass-rusher late in the draft, considering that they face Peyton Manning twice per season.

Pick change; previously Marqueston Huff, S

  26. New Orleans Saints: Prince Shembo, DE/OLB, Notre Dame
The Saints may also add another pass-rusher late. Victor Butler can’t be counted on.

Pick change; previously Kevin Pamphile, OT

  27. Indianapolis Colts: James White, RB, Wisconsin
The Colts lost Donald Brown this offseason, so they may add another running back just in case Trent Richardson continues to disappoint.

Pick change; previously Tyler Gaffney, RB

  28. Carolina Panthers: Brett Smith, QB, Wyoming
The Panthers may want to bring in a young quarterback who can eventually be groomed into Cam Newton’s backup.

Pick change; previously Ethan Westbrooks, DE

  29. Jacksonville Jaguars: Connor Shaw, QB, South Carolina
The Jaguars have said that they plan on drafting multiple quarterbacks this May, so they may opt to take their second signal-caller in the fifth or sixth round, given that they have five picks in those frames.

Pick change; previously Jacob Pedersen, TE

  30. New England Patriots: Tyler Gaffney, RB, Stanford
The Patriots lost LeGarrette Blount, who foolishly skipped out on a starting job to take a backup role, so they may look for a new running back because Bill Belichick doesn’t trust Stevan Ridley.

Pick change; previously David Fales, QB

  31. Denver Broncos: Khyri Thornton, DT, Southern Miss
The Broncos may use a late-round pick to add some depth to their defensive line.

  32. Seattle Seahawks: Carlos Fields, OLB, Winston-Salem
The Seahawks could use a linebacker, and Carlos Fields has the athleticism that they covet.

  33. New York Jets: Cassius Marsh, DE/OLB, UCLA
The Jets have a great defensive line, but they need some pass-rushing help on the exterior.

  34. New York Jets: Jeoffrey Pagan, DE/DT, Alabama
The Jets may want to use one of their billion sixth-round picks on some defensive line depth.

  35. Houston Texans: Jemea Thomas, S, Georgia Tech
The Texans may consider a safety in the middle rounds as competition for D.J. Swearinger, who struggled last year.

Pick change; previously Brandon Linder, G

  36. Cincinnati Bengals: Jay Bromley, DT, Syracuse
The Bengals aren’t particularly strong in terms of depth at defensive tackle.

Pick change; previously Allen Hurns, WR

  37. New York Jets: John Brown, WR, Pittsburg State
Considering the state of the Jets’ receiving corps, no one should be surprised if they double dip at the position.

  38. St. Louis Rams: Denicos Allen, OLB, Michigan State
The Rams need a better third linebacker to go along with James Laurinaitis and Alec Ogletree.

Pick change; previously Bene Benwikere, CB

  39. Pittsburgh Steelers: Kirby Van Der Kamp, P, Iowa State
The Steelers had punting issues this past season, so they may use a third-day choice to shore up their special teams.
