2013 NFL Mock Draft: Round 4

Last update: Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Major changes in all 5 rounds.
Next update: Next week. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.

You can find the complete seven-round 2013 NFL Draft Order by clicking the link.

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Barrett Jones, G/C/OT, Alabama
Barrett Jones makes a ton of sense for Jacksonville. The team has a big need at left guard and has to find a long-term center after Brad Meester retires. Jones can play both positions.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

Pick change; previously J.J. Wilcox, S

  2. Kansas City Chiefs: John Simon, DE/OLB, Ohio State
The Chiefs don’t have much depth behind Tamba Hali and Justin Houston – as they discovered in the Week 1 loss to Atlanta – so they could spend a mid-rounder on a rush linebacker.

Pick change; previously Mike Glennon, QB

  3. Oakland Raiders: Logan Ryan, CB, Rutgers
The Raiders were without their two starting cornerbacks most of this season. Ronald Bartell was released, while Shawntae Spencer just isn’t very good.

  4. Philadelphia Eagles: T.J. McDonald, S, USC
Patrick Chung and Kenny Phillips were added in free agency, but they are both very injury-prone. A long-term solution is needed at safety.

Pick change; previously Jordan Poyer, CB

  5. Minnesota Vikings: Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon State
The Vikings shocked everyone when they cut Antoine Winfield recently. Cornerback help is now needed.

Pick change; previously Bacarri Rambo, S

  6. Arizona Cardinals: Bacarri Rambo, S, Georgia
Adrian Wilson and Kerry Rhodes were both cut, which opened up a major hole at safety for Arizona. Yeremiah Bell was signed, but he’s just one player, and a short-term solution at that.

Pick change; previously Tony Jefferson, S

  7. Cleveland Browns: Marquise Goodwin, WR/KR, Texas
Josh Gordon improved as the 2012 season went along, but the Browns need another receiver to go along with the inconsistent Greg Little.

Pick change; previously Travis Kelce, TE

  8. Buffalo Bills: Kevin Reddick, ILB, North Carolina
Kelvin Sheppard was a big disappointment in his sophomore campaign. Nick Barnett, meanwhile, was released. Two upgrades are needed at linebacker.

Pick change; previously Jon Bostic, ILB

  9. New York Jets: Travis Kelce, TE, Cincinnati
Here’s another play-maker for the Jets’ offense. They need a replacement at tight end after losing Dustin Keller to the Dolphins.

Pick change; previously John Simon, DE/OLB

  10. Tennessee Titans: Tony Jefferson, S, Oklahoma
The Titans signed George Wilson prior to free agency, but he’s not a long-term solution at safety. Michael Griffin may not be either if he struggles again in 2013.

Pick change; previously Mike Gillislee, RB

  11. Carolina Panthers: Aaron Dobson, WR, Marshall
Panthers’ head coach Commander Adama hinted that signing Mike Wallace was a possibility. That didn’t happen, but it at least was an indication that Carolina is looking to upgrade the receiver position.

Pick change; previously Cobi Hamilton, WR

  12. New Orleans Saints: Brandon Williams, NT, Missouri Southern
Another piece for New Orleans’ new 3-4. The Saints could use a long-term solution at nose tackle behind Brodrick Bunkley.

  13. San Diego Chargers: Leon McFadden, CB, San Diego State
The Chargers signed Derek Cox recently, but they still need at least one more cornerback because they’re so thin at the position.

Pick change; previously Montee Ball, RB

  14. Miami Dolphins: Montori Hughes, NT, Tennessee-Martin
The Dolphins franchised Randy Starks, but Paul Soliai is entering his walk year. That means both defensive tackles will be free agents next March.

  15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Denard Robinson, KR, Michigan
The Buccaneers need an upgrade behind Doug Martin (in the event that LeGarrette Blount is dealt) and in the return game. Denard Robinson would be able to help in both areas.

Pick change; previously Brennan Williams, OT

  16. St. Louis Rams: Joseph Randle, RB, Oklahoma State
The Rams just lost Steven Jackson to the Falcons, so they’ll have to find another running back to compete with Daryl Richardson and Isaiah Pead.

Pick change; previously David Quessenberry, G/C/OT

  17. Dallas Cowboys: Andre Ellington, RB, Clemson
The Cowboys are expected to use a mid-round pick on a running back. Jerry Jones recently said that none of DeMarco Murray’s current backups are considered No. 2 runners.

  18. Pittsburgh Steelers: David Quessenberry, G/C/OT, San Jose State
The Steelers have depth issues on their offensive line. David Quessenberry can play anywhere up front, so he would be quite useful.

Pick change; previously T.J. McDonald, S

  19. New York Giants: Dwayne Gratz, CB, Connecticut
The Giants re-sign Aaron Ross, but they could still stand to use a mid-round pick on a cornerback after how poorly Corey Webster played last year.

Pick change; previously Kiko Alonso, ILB

  20. Chicago Bears: Zaviar Gooden, OLB, Missouri
As mentioned the Bears have serious issues in their linebacking corps. They need two starters there, and Zaviar Gooden seems like he’s perfect for their scheme.

Pick change; previously Ty Powell, OLB

  21. Cincinnati Bengals: Tyrann Mathieu, CB, LSU
Cincinnati just drafted Dre Kirkpatrick in the first round last year, but an early cornerback selection is still in play because the team has zero cornerback depth. That’s a problem because Mike Zimmer loves having three corners on the field.

  22. Washington Redskins: Josh Evans, S, Florida
More secondary help for the Redskins. They need a safety to pair with Brandon Meriweather – assuming that Meriweather can actually stay on the field for a change.

Pick change; previously Leon McFadden, CB

  23. Minnesota Vikings: Mike Gillislee, RB, Florida
Toby Gerhart is entering his contract year and could be traded. The Vikings will need a No. 2 back in 2014 and beyond.

Pick change; previously A.J. Klein, ILB

  24. Indianapolis Colts: Cobi Hamilton, WR, Arkansas
Jim Irsay seemed drunk when he spent a weekend night posting song lyrics about acquiring a receiver. Unfortunately, nothing happened. Irsay might have to get a wideout in the draft instead.

Pick change; previously Alvin Bailey, G

  25. Green Bay Packers: Brian Schwenke, C, California
Can anyone explain why Jeff Saturday was voted to the Pro Bowl? He didn’t even start at the end of the season. The Packers had major problems at center after letting Scott Wells walk away, so they’ll have to address that area in April.

  26. Seattle Seahawks: Brennan Williams, OT, North Carolina
As mentioned earlier, the right side of Seattle’s offensive line can be upgraded. Imagine how potent the offense will be with a more-seasoned Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, Percy Harvin and an improved front.

Pick change; previously Chris Faulk, OT

  27. Houston Texans: Oday Aboushi, G/OT, Virginia
The Texans want to bolster their offensive line this offseason. They’re very thin at tackle.

Pick change; previously Ryan Otten, TE

  28. Denver Broncos: Shamarko Thomas, S, Syracuse
Denver’s young corners played well alongside Champ Bailey, but safety help is needed because Michael Adams isn’t very good. He’s going to be a 32-year-old entering his contract season anyway. There’s Quinton Carter as well, but the coaching staff could be down on him after he was arrested.

Pick change; previously Jordan Hill, DT

  29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Chris Faulk, OT, LSU
Donald Penn struggled to close out the year, while Demar Dotson isn’t very good. The Buccaneers will be looking to bring in another tackle.

Pick change; previously B.W. Webb, CB

  30. Atlanta Falcons: Chris Harper, WR, Kansas State
The Falcons have absolutely zero depth at receiver. They need some help with that, as well as a potential successor for Roddy White.

Pick change; previously Joseph Randle, RB

  31. San Francisco 49ers: Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina
There was some talk at the Combine about how the 49ers might spend a mid-round selection on Marcus Lattimore because they have so many draft choices. In the wake of the Alex Smith trade, that’s an even greater possibility, as San Francisco can afford to take this sort of gamble. Lattimore may not be able to play in 2013, but the 49ers could have a stud back in 2014 and beyond.

  32. Baltimore Ravens: B.W. Webb, CB, William & Mary
The Ravens suddenly have glaring issues at cornerback. Lardarius Webb tore an ACL for the second time in his career, while Cary Williams just signed with the Eagles.

Pick change; previously Will Davis, CB

  33. Baltimore Ravens: Ty Powell, LB, Harding
The Ravens lost Ray Lewis to retirement and Dannell Ellerbe to the Dolphins this offseason. They’re obviously desperate for inside linebacker help.

  34. San Francisco 49ers: A.J. Klein, ILB, Iowa State
The 49ers obviously have two outstanding inside linebackers in Patrick Willis and Navorro Bowman, but with Larry Grant hitting free agency, there’s very little depth at that position.

  35. Detroit Lions: Alvin Bailey, G, Arkansas
The Lions will almost surely spend another pick on a lineman after taking Eric Fisher at No. 5 overall. Whether it’s a guard or a tackle depends on where they plan on using Riley Reiff.

  36. Atlanta Falcons: Devin Taylor, DE, South Carolina
As mentioned earlier, the Falcons have to find two defensive ends in the draft after losing John Abraham. All they have at the position now is Kroy Biermann.
