Duke at Army.
Line: Duke by 12.5.

Saturday, 12:00 p.m.

As a disclaimer, don’t go nuts with my college football picks. I’m much better at picking NFL games (at least I used to be). Follow @walterfootball for updates.

I like this Army team a lot. Excluding Week 1, they’ve played close to every team, save for Eastern Michigan, whom they blew out. Army nearly took down Connecticut, Wake Forest and Penn State in three of the past four weeks. Duke, meanwhile, is coming off a tough win and may not be focused.

College Football Pick: Army +12.5 (3 Units) — Incorrect; -$330

Navy at Notre Dame.
Line: Notre Dame by 14.5.

Saturday, 3:30 p.m.

Notre Dame was better than Clemson, but killed itself with terrible mistakes and dumb coaching decisions. However, the Irish’s season, in terms of a playoff berth, is effectively over. I think they’ll be flat for this reason, and that’s dangerous because Navy is 4-0 straight up and against the spread. This game should be close.

Ball State at Northern Illinois.
Line: Northern Illinois by 10.5.

Saturday, 3:30 p.m.

There’s a ton of name recognition with Northern Illinois, since the team nearly upset Ohio State. Well, we’ve seen that the Buckeyes have been slacking off, and the Huskies went down at Central Michigan last week. Still, people like them, but they shouldn’t in this contest because this Ball State squad is pretty decent. The Cardinals gave undefeated Northwestern all they could handle two weeks ago.

College Football Pick: Ball State +10.5 (2 Units) — Incorrect; -$220

Georgia at Tennessee.
Line: Georgia by 3.

Saturday, 3:30 p.m.

As with the Notre Dame game, I’m going to be fading a team whose season is effectively over. The Bulldogs had their Super Bowl last week against Alabama, but went down in flames. I don’t see how they get up for the Vols, who are pretty solid. Remember, Tennessee was very close to beating both Oklahoma and Florida (on the road), so I like this home dog quite a bit.

College Football Pick: Tennessee +3 (3 Units) — Correct; +$300

Michigan State at Rutgers.
Line: Michigan State by 14.

Saturday, 8:00 p.m.

I thought about taking Michigan State last week, but didn’t do it. I’m kicking myself now, so I’m not going to repeat that mistake. The Spartans are very overrated. Everyone remembers that “great” Oregon victory, but it’s effectively meaningless now because we’ve seen how bad the Ducks are. Rutgers is a functional squad and should be able to stay within the number.

College Football Pick: Rutgers +14 (1 Unit) — Correct; +$100
