The order of this 2023 NFL Mock Draft is often determined by the NFL Power Rankings, but for this update, it’s determined by the projected record in the NFL Season Previews for 2022.

*** This mock draft will be updated occasionally. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***

  1. Houston Texans: Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia Georgia
The Texans need a better cornerback across from last year’s first-round pick, Derek Stingley.

A huge cornerback with lots of upside, Kelee Ringo performed well in place of Tyson Campbell.

  2. Chicago Bears: Brandon Joseph, CB, Notre Dame Notre Dame
Pick a position outside of quarterback and running back, and the Bears have a need at that spot. Their cornerbacks are horrible outside of Jaylon Johnson.

Brandon Joseph is a turnover machine as a cornerback with great instincts.

  3. Arizona Cardinals: Jaxon Kirkland, G, Washington Washington
The Cardinals are stuck with Kyler Murray and his torn ACL, so they’ll need to find better players to protect him.

Jaxon Kirkland can play right tackle, but seems like a better fit at guard.

  4. Denver Broncos: Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee
Russell Wilson has been a disaster thus far. The Broncos will give him another chance next year because they don’t really have a choice, but they’ll need to find a young replacement in case Wilson is awful once again in 2023.

Hendon Hooker is a dual-threat quarterback enjoyed a great season for Tennessee. The top downside prior to his torn ACl was that he’ll turn 25 prior to the draft. The ACL is a concern for the short term, but not for the team drafting him in this situation.

  5. Los Angeles Rams: Zach Charbonnet, RB, UCLA Kansas State
The Rams seem generally unhappy with all of their running backs.

Zach Charbonnet is a quality receiver out of the backfield who runs with a nice burst.

  6. Indianapolis Colts: Josh Proctor, S, Ohio State Ohio State
Rodney McLeod will turn 33 a couple of months following the 2023 NFL Draft, so the Colts could target a safety in the early rounds.

Josh Proctor missed most of the ’21 season with a fractured leg, but has great ability.

  7. New Orleans Saints: Tyler Davis, DT, Clemson
What happened to New Orleans’ pass rush? The Saints are getting no pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

Tyler Davis doesn’t have great upside, but he’s been a disruptive force in the interior of the defensive line.

  8. Atlanta Falcons: Sikai Ika, NT, Baylor
The Falcons are poor against the run, so they’ll need some personnel to help in that regard.

Sikai Ika is a massive nose tackle who can apply a bit of pressure on the quarterback.

  9. Carolina Panthers: Jack Nelson, G/OT, Wisconsin Alabama
The Panthers have some major offensive line issues that must be addressed.

Jack Nelson started at left tackle for Wisconsin. He could continue to play tackle, or perhaps move inside to guard in the NFL.

  10. Houston Texans: Dontayvion Wicks, WR, Virginia
I expect the Texans to double up on receivers. They really need to completely retool the entire group.

Dontayvion Wicks is a lengthy receiver who broke out during his ’21 season.

Pick change; previously Dontay Demus Jr., WR

  11. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jonathan Mingo, WR, Ole Miss Mississippi
The Steelers love finding wide receiver gems on Day 2 of the NFL Draft. It’ll be interesting to see whom the Steelers will draft to replace Chase Claypool.

Jonathan Mingo is a huge receiver who runs great routes and can generate good yards after the catch.

Pick change; previously Jermaine Burton, WR

  12. Green Bay Packers: Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah Iowa State
The Packers could stand to add another weapon – one who offers an upgrade over Robert Tonyan.

Dalton Kincaid is an athletic receiver who runs good routes.

  13. Las Vegas Raiders: Eli Ricks, CB, Alabama Alabama
The Raiders have a poor pass defense, so they must find better cornerback play. They could double up on the position.

Eli Ricks is a 6-2 cornerback who had a breakout ’21 season for Alabama.

  14. Jacksonville Jaguars: Cody Mauch, G, North Dakota State North Dakota State
It can never hurt to give Trevor Lawrence better pass protection.

Team sources told Charlie Campbell that Cody Mauch could be this year’s version of Cole Strange.

  15. New York Jets: Tyler Van Dyke, QB, Miami BYU
The Jets will have to bring in a young quarterback to compete with Zach Wilson as the quarterback behind Mike White.

Tyler Van Dyke has nice accuracy with above-average arm strength.

  16. Detroit Lions: Amari Burney, LB, Florida Florida
The Lions have needed better linebacker play for years.

Amari Burney has excellent coverage skills.

  17. Seattle Seahawks: Habukkuk Baldanado, DE, Pittsburgh Pittsburgh"
The Seahawks must improve their ability to get to the quarterback, so here’s another defensive lineman for them.

Habukkuk Baldanado is a huge disruptor in the trenches.

  18. Miami Dolphins: Storm Duck, CB, North Carolina North Carolina
The Dolphins could use some help with their poor pass defense.

Advance scouts were high on Storm Duck’s ability, but he disappointed on tape.

  19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ryan Hayes, G/OT, Michigan Michigan
The Buccaneers desperate need offensive line help for Tom Brady, or whomever the team decides to start under center next year.

Ryan Hayes struggled against Georgia in the ’22 college football semi-final, but did well the following year.

  20. Tennessee Titans: Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois Illinois
The Titans have major issues stopping the pass, so they could stand to add another cornerback.

Devon Witherspoon is not quite six feet, but he has incredible speed.

  21. Indianapolis Colts: Zach Harrison, DE, Ohio State
The Colts need a better pass rush, as Yannick Ngakoue has been a disappointment in Indianapolis.

  22. Los Angeles Chargers: Jarrick Bernard-Converse, CB, LSU LSU
The Chargers haven’t been able to stop the pass because of some shoddy cornerback play this year.

Jarrick Bernard-Converse has good size, quickness and athleicism.

  23. Miami Dolphins: Rashad Torrence, S, Florida
Here’s some more help for Miami’s ailing secondary, which needs all the help it can get against Josh Allen.

Rashad Torrence is a very instinctive safety.

  24. New York Giants: Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College
The Giants are desperate for receiving help, as they’ll need to find someone to replace Kadarius Toney.

Zay Flowers is a small receiver, but can go the distance whenver he touches the ball.

Pick change; previously Chris Rodriguez, RB

  25. Baltimore Ravens: Julian Brents, CB, Kansas State
The Ravens need to think about getting younger at cornerback.

Julian Brents is a 6-3 cornerback who is a hard tackler.

  26. Cincinnati Bengals: Luke Schoonmaker, TE, Michigan Michigan
The Bengals were interested in Trey McBride last April, but couldn’t quite get him.

Luke Schoonmaker did well in all regards when filling in for an injured Erick All.

  27. Carolina Panthers: Nick Hampton, LB, Appalachian State Appalachian State
The Panthers missed Hasson Reddick this season, so they could use a linebacker who can play all over the field.

Nick Hampton is a very versatile linebacker.

  28. Dallas Cowboys: Anthony Johnson, CB, Virginia
Dallas should try to find an upgrade over Anthony Brown as the starter across from Trevon Diggs.

Anthony Johnson is a big cornerback who needs to show that he’s agile enough to run with speed receivers.

  29. Kansas City Chiefs: K.J. Henry, DE, Clemson Clemson
The Chiefs need to improve their pass rush so that they don’t have to blitz as often versus quarterbacks like Joe Burrow.

K.J. Henry played better this past season than his numbers indicate.

  30. Minnesota Vikings: Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU
The Vikings could stand to draft a quarterback to eventually challenge for the starting job.

Jayden Daniels has nice upside and could be a second-round selection.

  31. Buffalo Bills: Micah Baskerville, LB, LSU
Buffalo’s defense always takes a bit hit when Matt Milano is out of the lineup.

Micah Baskerville is a fast linebacker who can defend the run well.

  32. Philadelphia Eagles: Keeanu Benton, DT, Wisconsin
The Eagles could stand to improve their run defense, though they currently rank atop my NFL Power Rankings.

Keeanu Benton has a nice skill set and upside.
