The order of this 2023 NFL Mock Draft is often determined by the NFL Power Rankings, but for this update, it’s determined by the projected record in the NFL Season Previews for 2022.

*** This mock draft will be updated occasionally. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***

  1. Houston Texans: Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson Clemson
The Texans must improve their run defense and pass rush, so obtaining some defensive line help makes sense.

Bryan Bresee has terrific quickness and athleticism.

  2. Pittsburgh Steelers: Cedric Tillman, WR, Tennessee Tennessee
The Steelers always seem to find second-round receiver gems, so they could be looking for another after trading Chase Claypool.

Cedric Tillman is a monstrously built receiver who had a breakout ’21 campaign.

Pick change; previously Dontayvion Wicks, WR

  3. Seattle Seahawks: Sikai Ika, NT, Baylor
The Seahawks are weak to the run, as everyone discovered when Cordarrelle Patterson and Rachaad White ran all over them. They’ll need some help in the interior of their defensive front.

Sikai Ika is a massive nose tackle who can apply a bit of pressure on the quarterback.

  4. Los Angeles Rams: Felix Anudike-Uzomah, DE/OLB, Kansas State Kansas State
The Rams really miss Von Miller, so they’ll have to find a new edge rusher.

Best fit for the 3-4, Felix Anudike-Uzomah was highly productive in ’21.

  5. New Orleans Saints: Jack Campbell, LB, Iowa Iowa
The Saints had interest in Quay Walker at No. 19, but opted for a tackle instead. Here’s the linebacker help they were seeking.

Jack Campbell has the size and athleticism to be a three-down player in the NFL.

  6. Arizona Cardinals: Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia Georgia
The Cardinals have a weak group of cornerbacks, which is an issue against the talented receivers in the NFC West. They could double up on corners.

A huge cornerback with lots of upside, Kelee Ringo performed well in place of Tyson Campbell.

  7. Green Bay Packers: Will McDonald, DE, Iowa State Iowa State
The Packers should add another talented edge rusher so they don’t have to blitz as often.

Will McDonald is a fast and athletic edge rusher.

  8. Carolina Panthers: Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama Alabama
Christian McCaffrey is gone, so the Panthers will need to find someone to replace him.

Jahmyr Gibbs is an instinctive back who runs with power and catches passes well.

  9. Cleveland Browns: Tyree Wilson, DE/DT, Texas Tech Texas Tech
Cleveland’s pass rush is a bit weak outside of Myles Garrett. This is a problem, given how many great passing attacks reside in the AFC.

Tyree Wilson had a breakout ’21 season in which he recorded seven sacks. He could fill out and become a five-technique in the NFL.

  10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame Notre Dame
Evan Engram is not the long-term answer at tight end. I’m sure Trevor Lawrence would love a better intermediate threat.

The next NFL tight end to come out of Notre Dame, Michael Mayer murdered opponents with high production over the middle of the field.

  11. Pittsburgh Steelers: Zacch Pickens, DT, South Carolina
The Steelers can continue to bolster their miserable pass defense by bolstering the trenches to improve their ability to get to the quarterback.
Zacch Pickens had a great ’21 campaign. He has plus size, quickness and athleticism.

  12. Detroit Lions: Quan Martin, CB/S, Illinois Illinois
The Lions could stand to double up on cornerbacks, given how bad they are against the pass.

Quan Martin is a smooth athlete who can play anywhere in the secondary.

Pick change; previously Brandon Joseph, CB

  13. Las Vegas Raiders: Noah Sewell, LB, Oregon Oregon
The Raiders have a pathetic defense, so they must find help at every level.

Pick change; previously Jack Campbell, LB

  14. Indianapolis Colts: Zion Nelson, OT, Miami Miami
The Colts haven’t been able to keep their quarterbacks upright, so they need to finally obtain a replacement for Anthony Castonzo.

Zion Nelson was inconsistent this past season, but he has the potential to break out eventually.

Pick change; previously Tanner McKee, QB

  15. Atlanta Falcons: Dontayvion Wicks, WR, Virginia
The Falcons traded Calvin Ridley to the Jaguars, so they’ll need a new No. 2 receiver for 2023 and beyond.

Dontayvion Wicks is a lengthy receiver who broke out during his ’21 season.

Pick change; previously Zay Flowers, WR

  16. Los Angeles Chargers: Nolan Smith, DE, Georgia Georgia
Khalil Mack is just a temporary solution across from Joey Bosa. Someone is needed for the long haul.

Nolan Smith needs to get stronger, but he has great speed off the edge.

  17. New England Patriots: Malachi Moore, CB/S, Alabama Alabama
Bill Belichick loves his versatile defensive backs. He’ll need one with Devin McCourty nearing retirement.

Malachi Moore is an instinctive defensive back who can play anywhere in the defensive backfield.

  18. Seattle Seahawks: Josh Proctor, S, Ohio State Ohio State
Jamaal Adams can’t stay healthy, so the Seahawks will be looking for a new safety.

Josh Proctor missed most of the ’21 season with a fractured leg, but has great ability.

  19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee
The Buccaneers need a future replacement for Tom Brady, as Kyle Trask has not shown any signs of being a franchise quarterback.

Hendon Hooker is a dual-threat quarterback enjoyed a great season for Tennessee. The top downside is that he’ll turn 25 prior to the draft.

  20. Washington Redskins: Nick Broeker, OT/G, Ole Miss
The Redskins need to address the interior of their offensive line, which has been a big liability this year.

Nick Broeker may have to switch to guard in the NFL.

  21. New York Jets: Demarvioun Overshown, LB, Texas Illinois
The Jets are weak in the middle of the field, so they could stand to upgrade their linebacking corps.

Demarvioun Overshown was flying all over the field at times in ’21.

  22. Cincinnati Bengals: Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State Mississippi State
Cincinnati could continue to add young talent to its secondary, as it’ll need an upgrade over Eli Apple.

Emmanuel Forbes is a feast-or-famine cornerback.

  23. New York Giants: Mekhi Garner, CB, LSU LSU
The Giants need to find a new cornerback to replace James Bradberry. They also need a second cornerback, so they could double up at the position.

Mekhi Garner is a tall cornerback with good instincts.

  24. Chicago Bears: Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College
The Bears need everything, and that includes another receiver to pair with Chase Claypool and Darnell Mooney.

Zay Flowers is a small receiver, but can go the distance whenver he touches the ball.

Pick change; previously Zion Nelson, OT

  25. Tennessee Titans: B.J. Ojulari, DE/OLB, LSU LSU
Bud Dupree could be released after this season because he has not produced up to his salary.

B.J. Ojulari did a great job of taking over for the injured Ali Gaye in 2021.

  26. Carolina Panthers: Dontay Demus Jr., WR, Maryland Maryland
The Panthers are thin at receiver, so they should add some talent at the position.

Dontay Demus Jr. suffered a season-ending torn ACL in October 2021, but could still be a first-round pick because of his size (6-3) and athleticism.

  27. Buffalo Bills: O’Cyrus Torrence, G, Florida
The Bills still have a hole at guard they need to plug.

O’Cyrus Torrence is a huge interior blocker with surprising atleticism.

  28. Dallas Cowboys: Jammie Robinson, S, Florida State
The Cowboys could stand to improve their secondary to help complement their pass rush.

Jammie Robinson has been a solid run defender for Florida State.

  29. Miami Dolphins: Kenny McIntosh, RB, Georgia
Chase Edmonds has been a disappointment, but he’s gone now anyway. The Dolphins will need a pass-catcher to pair with Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr.

Kenny McIntosh flashed in a relief role prior to the ’22 season. He’s an excellent receiver.

  30. Detroit Lions: Tyler Davis, DT, Clemson
The Lions desperately need to improve their ability to stop the run.

Tyler Davis doesn’t have great upside, but he’s been a disruptive force in the interior of the defensive line.

  31. Kansas City Chiefs: Zach Evans, RB, Ole Miss Ole Miss
The Chiefs have no running game because Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been a huge bust. The Chiefs could target a running back on Day 2.

Zach Evans is undersized, but explosive.

  32. Philadelphia Eagles: Henry To’o To’o, LB, Alabama
No one in Philadelphia will ever be upset about the Eagles spending a high resource on a linebacker.

Henry To’o To’o is an instinctive linebacker.
