The order of this 2023 NFL Mock Draft is often determined by the NFL Power Rankings, but for this update, it’s determined by the projected record in the NFL Season Previews for 2022.

  1. Houston Texans: Zion Nelson, OT, Miami
The Texans were considering Ikem Ekwonu and Evan Neal at No. 3, but they selected Derek Stingley instead. They’ll have to find their tackle next April.

Zion Nelson was inconsistent this past season, but he has the potential to break out eventually.

  2. Las Vegas Raiders: Zach Evans, RB, Ole Miss Ole Miss
This could be Josh Jacobs’ final season with the Raiders. I imagine a new running back will be drafted.

Zach Evans is undersized, but explosive.

  3. New Orleans Saints: Noah Sewell, LB, Oregon Oregon
The Saints had interest in Quay Walker at No. 19, but opted for a tackle instead. Here’s the linebacker help they were seeking.

Pick change; previously Demarvioun Overshown, LB

  4. Pittsburgh Steelers: Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma
The Steelers need help with their dreadful offensive line.

Anton Harrison has quality athleticism and quickness for a tackle.

Pick change; previously Nick Broeker, OT/G

  5. New England Patriots: Malachi Moore, CB/S, Alabama Alabama
Bill Belichick loves his versatile defensive backs. He’ll need one with Devin McCourty nearing retirement.

Malachi Moore is an instinctive defensive back who can play anywhere in the defensive backfield.

  6. Washington Redskins: Brandon Joseph, CB, Notre Dame Notre Dame
The Redskins need to address their secondary, as they’ll need to find an answer at both cornerback and safety.

Brandon Joseph is a turnover machine as a cornerback with great instincts.

  7. Detroit Lions: Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee
Detroit could pursue a quarterback to challenge Jared Goff.

Hendon Hooker is a dual-threat quarterback enjoyed a great season for Tennessee.

Pick change; previously K.J. Jefferson, QB

  8. Carolina Panthers: Jaxon Kirkland, G, Washington Washington
The Panthers need to continue to strengthen their offensive line.

Jaxon Kirkland can play right tackle, but seems like a better fit at guard.

  9. Indianapolis Colts: Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State Penn State
Stephon Gilmore is just a temporary solution. The Colts need a new corner for the long haul.

The son of the former Steeler great is a 6-2 cornerback with high potential.

  10. Cleveland Browns: Will McDonald, DE, Iowa State Iowa State
Cleveland’s pass rush is a bit weak outside of Myles Garrett. This is a problem, given how many great passing attacks reside in the AFC.

Will McDonald is a fast and athletic edge rusher.

Pick change; previously Zach Harrison, DE

  11. Seattle Seahawks: Tyree Wilson, DE/DT, Texas Tech Texas Tech
The Seahawks have a lackluster pass rush, so they’ll need to find some help in the first couple of rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Tyree Wilson had a breakout ’21 season in which he recorded seven sacks. He could fill out and become a five-technique in the NFL.

Pick change; previously Jeremy Banks, LB

  12. Seattle Seahawks: Sikai Ika, NT, Baylor
The Seahawks are very weak to the run, as everyone discovered when Cordarrelle Patterson ran all over them. They’ll need some help in the interior of their defensive front.

Sikai Ika is a massive nose tackle who can apply a bit of pressure on the quarterback.

Pick change; previously Will McDonald, DE

  13. Los Angeles Chargers: Paris Johnson, OT/G, Ohio State Ohio State
The one weakness on the Chargers’ offensive line continues to be right tackle.

Pick change; previously Will Anderson, DE/OLB

  14. Arizona Cardinals: Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State Mississippi State
The Cardinals have a weak group of cornerbacks, which is an issue against the Rams’ offense. They could double up on corners.

Emmanuel Forbes is a feast-or-famine cornerback.

  15. Los Angeles Rams: Nolan Smith, DE, Georgia Georgia
The Rams really miss Von Miller, so they’ll have to find a new edge rusher.

Nolan Smith needs to get stronger, but he has great speed off the edge.

Pick change; previously B.J. Ojulari, DE/OLB

  16. New York Jets: Demarvioun Overshown, LB, Texas Illinois
The Jets are weak in the middle of the field, so they could stand to upgrade their linebacking corps.

Demarvioun Overshown was flying all over the field at times in ’21.

Pick change; previously Anton Harrison, OT

  17. Chicago Bears: Nick Broeker, OT/G, Ole Miss
The Bears need everything, and that includes a left tackle because Teven Jenkins looks like a bust.

Nick Broeker may have to switch to guard in the NFL.

Pick change; previously Paris Johnson, OT/G

  18. Atlanta Falcons: Zach Harrison, DE, Ohio State
The Falcons have lacked a dynamic pass rush since the days of John Abraham. This area must be addressed at some point.

Zach Harrison has nice potential with his athletic ability.

Pick change; previously Jared Verse, DE/OLB

  19. San Francisco 49ers: Akeem Dent, S/CB, Florida State Florida State
I’m shocked the 49ers didn’t upgrade safety in the 2022 NFL Draft. They may regret that.

Akeem Dent improved as this past season progressed. He can play cornerback and safety.

  20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jaren Hall, QB, BYU BYU
The Buccaneers need a future replacement for Tom Brady, as Kyle Trask has not shown any signs of being a franchise quarterback.

Jaren Hall is a rushing threat who has a quality arm.

Pick change; previously Hendon Hooker, QB

  21. Cincinnati Bengals: Ereck Ali, TE, Michigan
Cincinnati had strong interest in Trey McBride in the second round, but he was plucked off the board before the team was on the clock.

Ereck Ali is a fast tight end who blocks well.

Pick change; previously Will Mallory, TE

  22. Tennessee Titans: Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame Notre Dame
It’s been a while since the Titans have possessed a potent tight end. Perhaps they’ll draft one early this upcoming April.

The next NFL tight end to come out of Notre Dame, Michael Mayer murdered opponents with high production over the middle of the field.

  23. Baltimore Ravens: Brian Branch, CB, Alabama Alabama
Between the improved passing attacks in the conference, and the issues at the position last year, the Ravens must address cornerback.

Brian Branch has nice size and cover ability.

  24. New York Giants: Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois Illinois
The Giants need to find a new cornerback to replace James Bradberry.

Devon Witherspoon is not quite six feet, but he has incredible speed.

  25. Jacksonville Jaguars: Zacch Pickens, DT, South Carolina
The Jaguars have been searching for a replacement for Calais Campbell for quite some time, and I don’t think it’s out of the question that they’d double up on defensive linemen.

Zacch Pickens had a great ’21 campaign. He has plus size, quickness and athleticism.

  26. Dallas Cowboys: Jammie Robinson, S, Florida State
The Cowboys could stand to improve their secondary to help complement their pass rush.

Jammie Robinson has been a solid run defender for Florida State.

  27. Green Bay Packers: Davis Allen, TE, Clemson
Here’s another weapon for Aaron Rodgers, who needs a better tight end than Robert Tonyan.

  28. Buffalo Bills: O’Cyrus Torrence, G, Florida
The Bills still have a hole at guard they need to plug.

O’Cyrus Torrence is a huge interior blocker with surprising atleticism.

  29. Minnesota Vikings: Dontayvion Wicks, WR, Virginia
Adam Thielen doesn’t have much time remaining, so the Vikings may want to add a young receiver.

Dontayvion Wicks is a lengthy receiver who broke out during his ’21 season.

Pick change; previously Jaren Hall, QB

  30. Kansas City Chiefs: Cameron Latu, TE, Alabama
Travis Kelce will turn 34 after the 2023 NFL Draft, so the Chiefs will need to think about finding a successor.

Cameron Latu has good size and athleticism.

  31. Miami Dolphins: Storm Duck, CB, North Carolina
Miami may trade Byron Jones at some point, given the rumors always circulating about him being dealt.

Storm Duck is a tall cornerback, and advance scouts are high on his ability.

  32. Philadelphia Eagles: Julian Brents, CB, Kansas State
The Eagles were considering a cornerback at No. 18 before they traded the pick for A.J. Brown.

Julian Brents is a 6-3 cornerback who is a hard tackler.

Pick change; previously Joey Porter Jr., CB
