Reader 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Picks 1-16

  1. Los Angeles Chargers: DeVonte Wyatt, DT, Georgia
    Devonte Wyatt: 22.1%
    Devin Lloyd: 17.2%
    Trent McDuffie: 16.9%
    Nakobe Dean: 12.0%
    George Karlaftis: 10.1%
    Tyler Smith: 8.7%
    Daxton Hill: 4.6%
    David Ojabo: 4.4%
    Nick Petit-Frere: 3.8%
    Total votes: 366

Ben W: There’s no doubt the Chargers need D-line help, but I think Wyatt would be a reach here. OT is an option but I think Trent McDuffie makes the most sense, even though he’s a bit of a risk.

  2. Philadelphia Eagles: Nick Petit-Frere, OT, Ohio State
    Nick Petit-Frere: 34.0%
    George Karlaftis: 18.5%
    Trent McDuffie: 17.5%
    Devin Lloyd: 9.7%
    Tyler Linderbaum: 7.3%
    Nakobe Dean: 6.8%
    Daxton Hill: 3.9%
    Tyler Smith: 1.5%
    David Ojabo: 1.0%
    Total votes: 206

Ben W: Gosh the Eagles can go a heap of different ways with at least five of the options totally viable here. I think Karlaftis and Ojabo both make sense and their LB needs are well documented but I’m going with McDuffie, even though I think the others are better prospects.

James K: Daxton Hill is rising for me. Teams like the Eagles and Patriots would be brilliant fits, and if he slips to the end of the first KC makes a ton of sense too. I think he’s a younger version of my guy Jimmie Ward.

Mike B: Eagles have to finally take a LB here. Devin Lloyd or Nakobe Dean should be the pick. Get someone to lock down the middle of your defense.

  3. New Orleans Saints: Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State
    Chris Olave: 29.7%
    Jameson Williams: 29.4%
    Treylon Burks: 17.1%
    George Karlaftis: 9.3%
    Daxton Hill: 3.4%
    Tyler Linderbaum: 3.4%
    Nakobe Dean: 2.6%
    Devin Lloyd: 2.6%
    Trent McDuffie: 2.2%
    David Ojabo: 0.4%
    Total votes: 269

Ben W: The Saints are, for some reason, pushing all-in and going into win-now mode. That makes Jameson Williams, the best prospect available, unlikely. For that reason, I suspect they’ll add some speed to go with Michael Thomas and take Chris Olave.

  4. Pittsburgh Steelers: Tyler Linderbaum, C/G, Iowa
    Tyler Linderbaum: 24.6%
    Matt Corral: 23.0%
    Desmond Ridder: 18.7%
    Trent McDuffie: 7.2%
    George Karlaftis: 6.6%
    Daxton Hill: 5.6%
    Sam Howell: 5.3%
    Devin Lloyd: 4.3%
    Tyler Smith: 3.9%
    David Ojabo: 1.0%
    Total votes: 269

Ben W: I really don’t like any of the QB options left available to Pittsburgh. Surely at this stage they’re better off nailing their O-line and rocking with their veteran for a season. It could be Linderbaum or Tyler Smith, either is fine, but any QB would be a big reach.

Thomas W: Linderbaum to Steelers, inhertiting the mantle of Webster, Dawson and Pouncey. I’m glad the QBs are splitting the vote because both are reaches.

  5. New England Patriots: Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah
    Devin Lloyd: 27.2%
    Jameson Williams: 21.4%
    Trent McDuffie: 16.8%
    George Karlaftis: 9.4%
    Treylon Burks: 8.3%
    Nakobe Dean: 7.6%
    Daxton Hill: 5.1%
    Tyler Smith: 2.2%
    David Ojabo: 1.8%
    Christian Watson: 0.4%
    Total votes: 276

Ben W: It’s ludicrous that Jameson Williams is still available at 21, no way that happens in the actual draft. He has to go here.

  6. Green Bay Packers: Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama
    Jameson Williams: 48.3%
    Treylon Burks: 28.2%
    George Karlaftis: 10.1%
    Christian Watson: 6.4%
    Nakobe Dean: 2.0%
    Trent McDuffie: 1.7%
    Daxton Hill: 1.3%
    Tyler Smith: 1.0%
    David Ojabo: 1.0%
    Total votes: 298

  7. Arizona Cardinals: George Karlaftis, DE, Purdue
    George Karlaftis: 26.0%
    Trent McDuffie: 25.6%
    Treylon Burks: 14.2%
    Zion Johnson: 8.1%
    Kenyon Green: 7.3%
    Andrew Booth: 5.3%
    Daxton Hill: 4.5%
    Tyler Smith: 4.0%
    David Ojabo: 3.7%
    Christian Watson: 1.2%
    Total votes: 246

Ben W: The Cards need a replacement for Chandler Jones and both Karlaftis and Ojabo are viable options. Given the Ojabo injury and Arizona having the potential to win now, Karlaftis is probably the better option.

Anthony H: I don’t think Arizona would pass on Burks if he is still there. They run so many 4-WR sets and even though AJG was re-signed, both he and Hopkins are threats to get nicked up, and obviously AJG is well past his prime anyway. They would also be stealing him away from Dallas, who would surely take him next!

  8. Dallas Cowboys: Zion Johnson, G, Boston College
    Zion Johnson: 22.9%
    Treylon Burks: 22.2%
    Kenyon Green: 21.1%
    Trent McDuffie: 10.9%
    Tyler Smith: 9.5%
    David Ojabo: 5.1%
    Daxton Hill: 4.4%
    Lewis Cine: 1.8%
    Andrew Booth: 1.1%
    Christian Watson: 1.1%
    Total votes: 275

Ben W: Plenty of good options and I imagine the Cowboys will likely go BPA. That’s surely Treylon Burks here.

  9. Buffalo Bills: Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington
    Trent McDuffie: 36.2%
    Andrew Booth: 23.2%
    Treylon Burks: 11.4%
    Kenyon Green: 7.6%
    Daxton Hill: 6.4%
    Nakobe Dean: 5.4%
    Kyler Gordon: 3.2%
    David Ojabo: 2.5%
    Christian Watson: 2.2%
    Tyler Smith: 1.9%
    Total votes: 315

Justin S: Booth’s length gives him the upper hand in McDermott’s defense over McDuffie. He’d be the obvious pick in this scenario.

  10. Tennessee Titans: Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas
    Treylon Burks: 35.1%
    Kenyon Green: 18.4%
    Andrew Booth: 10.8%
    Tyler Smith: 10.8%
    Matt Corral: 10.3%
    Daxton Hill: 6.5%
    Desmond Ridder: 3.8%
    Kyler Gordon: 2.7%
    Christian Watson: 1.1%
    Sam Howell: 0.5%
    Total votes: 185

Ben W: O-line and WR are the two obvious needs. If Burks is available, I like the fit. But I suspect Green would be more likely in this scenario.

  11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Kenyon Green, G, Texas A&M
    Kenyon Green: 45.7%
    Andrew Booth: 16.8%
    David Ojabo: 9.1%
    Daxton Hill: 6.7%
    Tyler Smith: 6.3%
    Lewis Cine: 5.3%
    Jahan Dotson: 3.4%
    Christian Watson: 3.4%
    Kyler Gordon: 2.4%
    George Pickens: 1.0%
    Total votes: 208

Ben W: Green is a great replacement for Ali Marpet and solid value late in the 1st.

  12. Green Bay Packers: Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State
    Jahan Dotson: 16.4%
    Christian Watson: 16.0%
    Nakobe Dean: 15.2%
    David Ojabo: 13.7%
    Daxton Hill: 13.2%
    Tyler Smith: 11.7%
    Travis Jones: 5.1%
    Andrew Booth: 3.9%
    Lewis Cine: 3.1%
    Quay Walker: 1.6%
    Total votes: 256

Ben W: It seems unlikely the Packers go with two WR in the first round when for so long they’ve taken none. There’s no great options but Ojabo is interesting. Za’Darius Smith leaving gives an opening and with Gary and Preston Smith still there, they have time to wait for Ojabo to get healthy.

Anthony H: Considering that I think the Saints are going to take Tyler Smith at 19 and that Dallas would take him at 24 if Penning was off the board, I’d love the value of Smith to the Packers at 28. Their RT situation is dire. Kid is 20. Upside for so much more. Teams like him.

  13. Kansas City Chiefs: Christian Watson, WR, North Dakota State
    Christian Watson: 23.5%
    Andrew Booth: 19.1%
    Daxton Hill: 19.1%
    David Ojabo: 9.1%
    George Pickens: 9.1%
    Nakobe Dean: 7.4%
    Skyy Moore: 7.4%
    Lewis Cine: 3.9%
    Quay Walker: 0.9%
    Travis Jones: 0.4%
    Total votes: 230

Ben W: The Chiefs have a few needs but their greatest is replacing Tyreek Hill. Christian Watson is risky but he seems like a viable replacement.

Anthony H: That’s what I voted for also, given that my preferred pick for them, Dotson, went at 28 to the Packers.

  14. Kansas City Chiefs: Andrew Booth Jr., CB, Clemson
    Andrew Booth: 26.4%
    Daxton Hill: 26.0%
    David Ojabo: 18.8%
    Nakobe Dean: 10.0%
    Lewis Cine: 8.8%
    George Pickens: 3.2%
    Skyy Moore: 2.8%
    Travis Jones: 2.0%
    Kyler Gordon: 1.6%
    Quay Walker: 0.9%
    Total votes: 250

Ben W: Daxton Hill feels the best value here and fills a serious need.

  15. Cincinnati Bengals: Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida
    Kaiir Elam: 23.6%
    Daxton Hill: 18.2%
    David Ojabo: 16.4%
    Nakobe Dean: 14.1%
    Kyler Gordon: 12.3%
    Lewis Cine: 5.9%
    Travis Jones: 4.6%
    Perrion Winfrey: 2.7%
    Arnold Ebiketie: 1.8%
    Quay Walker: 0.5%
    Total votes: 220

Ben W: Lots of great options but a true outside corner seems most likely. I’d guess Elam.

  16. Detroit Lions:
Vote for whom you think the Lions will take No. 32 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft (assuming no trades) and post in the comment board below. If it’s a landslide, I may end the voting early and post the next pick. Follow @walterfootball to stay updated.
