*** 2020 NFL MOCK DRAFT (2 rounds) updated Oct. 16. This mock draft will be updated occasionally. Check out old versions of this 2020 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock section. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***

  1. Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
It’s quite obvious by now that the Dolphins are tanking. Miami acquired Josh Rosen, but that doesn’t matter. Teams have selected plenty of first-round quarterbacks after using a pick in the second frame on a signal-caller the year before. The Cardinals even established precedent for doing so with consecutive first-rounders!

The hero of the national championship against Georgia, Tua Tagovailoa has a big arm and scrambling ability, and will undoubtedly draw comparisons to Russell Wilson.

  2. Cincinnati Bengals: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
The Bengals like Ryan Finley enough to keep him out of the preseason finale. However, if they’re in position to select a franchise quarterback, they almost have to do it or trade out of this pick.

Justin Herbert had an up-and-down 2018 season, which included a great performance against Stanford. He was considered the top quarterback prospect for the 2019 NFL Draft before making the mistake of returning to school, where he’s risking injury and regression.

  3. Washington Redskins: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
Trent Williams has vowed never to play for the Redskins again, and he has kept his word thus far. Washington needs a new left tackle to protect Dwayne Haskins.

Andrew Thomas has been very impressive, using his great athleticism and length. NFL personnel believe he has tremendous potential.

  4. Atlanta Falcons: Chase Young, DE, Ohio State
Atlanta has tons of holes to fill, and one of the major ones is a lack of a pass rush. The Falcons can’t get to the quarterback at all, so here’s someone who could change that.

Chase Young enjoyed a breakout season in the wake of Nick Bosa’s injury. He’s a very athletic edge player with great size (6-5, 265).

Pick change; previously Jeff Okudah, CB

  5. New York Jets: Austin Jackson, OT, USC
The Jets would love a blue-chip left tackle or a No. 1 receiver, so it’s a tough call between Jerry Jeudy and Austin Jackson. I’m going with the latter, as protecting Sam Darnold is more important.

Austin Jackson is a terrific athlete with quick feet and superb agility.

Pick change; previously Chase Young, DE

  6. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State
The Jaguars just traded Jalen Ramsey (go here for the NFL Trade Grades for analysis), and they’ll need a replacement for him.

Jeff Okudah is a big, athletic, speedy cornerback with immense upside.

Pick change; previously Isaiah Simmons, S

  7. Cleveland Browns: Walker Little, OT, Stanford
Perhaps the Browns will think twice about entering the season with Greg Robinson as their left tackle. They desperately need help on the offensive line.

Walker Little was the 25th-overall player in his recruiting class. An athletic tackle who is proficient in both pass protection and run blocking, Little will undergo knee surgery, but should be ready by training camp.

  8. Miami Dolphins: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
The Dolphins will need a receiver to pair with Tua Tagovailoa. Luckily for them, there will be plenty of options in the 2020 NFL Draft, and they currently have two top-five picks in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Jerry Jeudy is a height-weight-speed freak in the mold of a Julio Jones. He’s the next great Alabama receiver, and if he performs up to his skill set, he’ll have a great chance to be a top-10 pick.

  9. New York Giants: Yetur Gross-Matos, DE, Penn State
The Giants’ defense is an abomination. They need help everywhere, including the pass rush, which simply doesn’t exist.

Yetur Gross-Matos registered a ridiculous 20 tackles for loss in 2018. His potential is off the charts.

  10. Los Angeles Chargers: Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
The Chargers’ secondary is a mess. Part of that has to do with injuries, but they’ve needed a talented cornerback across from Casey Hayward for quite some time.

Trevon Diggs, younger brother of Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs, began as a receiver at Alabama, but was tremendous last season at cornerback before suffering a foot injury.

  11. Tennessee Titans: Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia
Marcus Mariota has 11 more games to prove that he deserves to be Tennessee’s starting quarterback in 2020. If he fails to get the Titans to the playoffs, the front office will look into using a first-round pick on a quarterback.

Jake Fromm was tremendous as a rookie for SEC champion Georgia. He has a great skill set and was the very early favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He has been passed by a couple of prospects, but he’s still a first-round prospect.

  12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jacob Eason, QB, Washington
The Buccaneers will give Jameis Winston one more chance this season. If he continues to play very inconsistently under Bruce Arians, or if he continues to grope Uber drivers, he won’t be back for 2020.

Jacob Eason, a former first-round staple of my mock drafts, is off to a good start at Washington. He was once the projected No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Mock Draft, but dropped off because of his injury and transfer. Now that he’s thriving for Washington, he should be back in first-round consideration.

  13. Denver Broncos: Grant Delpit, S, LSU
The Broncos have some talented cornerbacks, but their safety play can get much better next to Justin Simmons. Luckily for them, there are some skilled safeties available in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Grant Delpit is an exceptional talent who figures to be a top-10 prospect when he declares.

  14. Arizona Cardinals: Derrick Brown, DE/DT, Auburn
The Cardinals have needed a strong presence on the defensive line ever since losing Calais Campbell to the Jaguars. Here’s a great replacement for Campbell.

Derrick Brown has great size (6-5, 316) and tons of upside. He can be a great interior disruptor if he lives up to his potential. He had a chance to be a top-five pick (No. 4 overall?) in the 2019 NFL Draft before he returned to school.

  15. Dallas Cowboys: Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri
The Cowboys signed Jason Witten this past offseason, so they’ll be looking for a long-term solution at tight end.

The athletic Albert Okwuegbunan had a coming-out party against Georgia and should be the first tight end off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft.

  16. Jacksonville Jaguars: Isaiah Simmons, S, Clemson
Jacksonville’s safety play this year has been underwhelming, so the team may pursue an upgrade early in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Isaiah Simmons flew all around the field and was a physical presence for Clemson last year.
