  1. Cleveland Browns: Damien Harris, RB, Alabama
The Browns could easily spend the first-overall pick on Saquon Barkley. If they don’t, they’ll need someone else to upgrade the disappointing Isaiah Crowell.

  2. New York Giants: Bryce Love, RB, Stanford
Shane Vereen is an impending free agent, so the Giants will need a new running back. Orleans Darkwa, Wayne Gallman, Paul Perkins… all of these players are pedestrian. New York needs an upgrade here, and it would get that with Bryce Love, who has shown some dynamic play-making ability and toughness as Christian McCaffrey’s replacement.

  3. Indianapolis Colts: Ken Webster, CB, Ole Miss
The Colts found a solid cornerback in Rashaan Melvin, but Vontae Davis has not performed up to his ability for years. A replacement is needed in Indianapolis’ atrocious secondary.

Ken Webster was recently slotted in the first round, but he has dropped because of medical concerns, as Charlie Campbell wrote in the NFL Hot Press.

Pick change; previously Josh Allen, LB

  4. New England Patriots: Josh Allen, LB, Kentucky
The Patriots still have defensive issues, mostly at linebacker. Dont’a Hightower will return from injury next year, but help is still needed at the position.

Pick change; previously Kolton Miller, OT

  5. Chicago Bears: Parris Campbell, WR, Ohio State
Kevin White has been a bust thus far, while Cameron Meredith’s long-term status is unclear because of the brutal injury he suffered in the preseason. The Bears need to give Mitchell Trubisky a viable No. 1 receiver.

Pick change; previously Harold Landry, DE/OLB

  6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Derrius Guice, RB, LSU
The Buccaneers took a chance on Doug Martin this season, and it backfired. Martin has been lethargic, and he was finally benched for fumbling. Tampa Bay will be looking for a running back early in the 2018 NFL Draft.

  7. Cleveland Browns: Maurice Hurst, DE/DT, Michigan
The Browns have the foundation for a great defensive front, but they need another talent next to Danny Shelton to help rush the passer.

  8. Denver Broncos: Connor Williams, OT, Texas
The Broncos found a new quarterback in the opening round. Now, they’ll need to protect him and give him at least one talented weapon to work with.

Connor Williams has taken a dive in recent mock draft updates as a result of Charlie’s report in the NFL Hot Press that teams have a mid-round grade on the Texas tackle.

  9. New York Jets: Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia
I’ve had Clayton Thorson slotted here for the past few updates, but I had to make a late adjustment because of a report from Charlie Campbell that Clayton Thorson is likely returning to Northwestern.

Why not take another player for the backfield instead? It’s not like the Jets don’t need a new starting running back.

  10. Cincinnati Bengals: Martinas Rankin, OT, Mississippi State
No one should be surprised if the Bengals double up on offensive linemen in the first couple of rounds in the 2018 NFL Draft, based on how the blocking unit has performed.

  11. Oakland Raiders: Kerryon Johnson, RB, Auburn
The Marshawn Lynch signing has mostly been a failure, so the Raiders need to move on from him and find a new starting running back.

  12. Washington Redskins: Ronald Jones, RB, USC
There are going to be numerous running backs selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The Redskins need to consider taking one. Neither Robert Kelley nor Samaje Perine happens to be the long-term answer at the position.

  13. Miami Dolphins: Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina
The Dolphins could add another offensive weapon. Addressing tight end makes sense, as I don’t have much hope for Julius Thomas.

  14. Arizona Cardinals: Equanimeous St. Brown, WR, Notre Dame
Larry Fitzgerald will move into second place all time on the receiving-yardage list early next season, but that only means that he’s close to retirement – unless he remains in the NFL until 2023 to break Jerry Rice’s records! Regardless, Arizona needs a new receiver to eventually take over as the top downfield target.

Pick change; previously Parris Campbell, WR

  15. Green Bay Packers: Iman Marshall, CB, USC
The Packers almost have to keep picking cornerbacks until they get a talented one, right? It’s amazing how bad their pass defense is.

Pick change; previously J.C. Jackson, CB

  16. Los Angeles Chargers: DeShon Elliott, S, Texas
Everyone thought the Chargers would select Malik Hooker No. 7 overall. They went with Mike Williams instead, so here’s their chance to obtain an upgrade at safety. They’ll need one if Tre Boston, who has played well this year, departs via free agency this spring.

  17. New York Jets: Harold Landry, DE/OLB, Boston College
The Jets have gotten a lot out of Kony Ealy, who has been tremendous for them despite the Patriots cutting him during the preseason. However, Ealy is an impending free agent and may command a high price tag. If heads elsewhere, the Jets will need another new edge rusher.

Pick change; previously Equanimeous St. Brown, WR

  18. Dallas Cowboys: Antonio Callaway, WR, Florida
The Cowboys could use another threat in the receiving corps, and they’ve shown that they’re willing to take chances on troubled players. Antonio Callaway has some major off-the-field issues, but some team could give him a shot in the second round.

  19. Buffalo Bills: Mark Andrews, TE, Oklahoma
The Bills need to give their new quarterback – whoever that may be – another weapon to work with. Another tight end to go along with Charles Clay could definitely be an option.

  20. Detroit Lions: Marcell Frazier, DE/OLB, Missouri
Ziggy Ansah is an impending free agent, while Kerry Hyder is coming off a season-ending injury. There are some questions for the Lions as far as their edge rushers are concerned.

Pick change; previously Iman Marshall, CB

  21. Baltimore Ravens: Anthony Averett, CB, Alabama
Unless Brandon Carr takes a big pay cut, I can’t see him being back next year. The Ravens could pursue another cornerback early in the draft if Carr leaves.

  22. Tennessee Titans: Dorance Armstrong, DE/OLB, Kansas
Brian Orakpo appears to be slowing down a bit, while Kevin Dodd hasn’t shown that he can be an NFL-caliber player yet. There’s a good chance the Titans spend an early draft choice on an edge rusher to start across from Derrick Morgan.

Pick change; previously Josh Sweat, DE/OLB

  23. Atlanta Falcons: Duke Ejiofor, DE, Wake Forest
The Falcons have three defensive linemen set to hit free agency next spring, so this is an area they could attack in the 2018 NFL Draft.

  24. Carolina Panthers: Sam Beal, CB, Western Michigan
The secondary is the weak link of Carolina’s roster. The Panthers need upgrades at both cornerback and safety.

Pick change; previously Justin Reid, S

  25. Kansas City Chiefs: J.C. Jackson, CB, Maryland
The Chiefs were so desperate for cornerback help that they signed Darrelle Revis, who was atrocious against his former team. Kansas City has to target a cornerback early.

Pick change; previously Sam Beal, CB

  26. Buffalo Bills: Isaiah Wynn, G, Georgia
The Bills need to improve the right side of the offensive line. Perhaps Dion Dawkins will be able to properly replace Jordan Mills sometime soon. Right guard John Miller must also be upgraded.

  27. San Francisco 49ers: Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M
The 49ers will have Pierre Garcon back next year, but they need a second receiver to pair with him to give Jimmy Garoppolo more weapons to work with.

  28. Jacksonville Jaguars: Troy Fumagalli, TE, Wisconsin
The Jaguars could use a new tight end, as they don’t have anything at the position in the wake of the Julius Thomas trade.

  29. Minnesota Vikings: Chad Thomas, DE, Miami
Brian Robison has stated that he’s going to retire after 2018, so the Vikings will need some new talent behind Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter.

  30. Pittsburgh Steelers: Cameron Smith, LB, USC
I mentioned the Ryan Shazier situation in the second round. It’s unfortunate, but there’s a chance Shazier may never play again, so the Steelers will be on the lookout for an early inside linebacker.

  31. New England Patriots: Tyquan Lewis, DE, Ohio State
The Patriots will be getting Derek Rivers back from injury next year, but they may decide that he’s not enough to bolster their pass rush. Getting a third potent edge rusher to go along with Rivers and Trey Flowers would make sense.

  32. Cleveland Browns: Darius Leonard, LB, South Carolina State
Jamie Collins hasn’t lived up to expectations thus far, and he’s getting paid more than $10 million in each of the next couple of seasons. The Browns could decide to go healthier and cheaper.
