*** 2017 NFL MOCK DRAFT (2 rounds) updated Sept. 15. This mock draft will be updated occasionally. Check out old versions of this 2017 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock section. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***
  1. San Francisco 49ers: DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame
It sounds like teams and scouts really like DeShone Kizer, and why wouldn’t they? He has the arm, accuracy and mobility, and as of right now, he’s the favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The 49ers obviously need a quarterback. Of their two primary signal-callers, one is cowardly and does nothing but toss checkdowns, while the other distracts his team with political antics. San Francisco needs to begin anew with either Kizer or Deshaun Watson. Hiring a new head coach and general manager would help, too, as would finding a new owner.

By the way, I’m aware the 49ers won Monday night, but as with their victory over Minnesota last year, this will prove to be a mirage. San Francisco is very much still in play for the No. 1 overall choice.

Pick change; previously Brad Kaaya, QB

  2. Cleveland Browns: Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson
The Browns traded away the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft to the Eagles, passing on the possibility of drafting a quarterback. Cleveland did the smart thing, albeit with stupid reasoning. Not only did it acquire tons of selections to bolster the roster, but it also made sure that it would have a better chance of securing a better quarterback in a stronger draft class. That said, their belief that Robert Griffin would be a better option than Carson Wentz was laughable. Perhaps the Browns should begin acting like George Costanza and do the opposite of their natural instinct. They’d win the Super Bowl in no time!

College football’s version of Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson had an amazing run despite being just a mere sophomore. The sky’s the limit for him, despite his slow start this season.

  3. Tennessee Titans: Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
This is the Rams’ pick. Had Los Angeles been drafting here, it would take Alabama offensive tackle Cam Robinson to improve its ghastly offensive line. Alas, the Rams surrendered too many draft choices for a quarterback who wasn’t ready to play.

The Titans, meanwhile, would take Myles Garrett, no questions asked. This is bolstering a strength, as Tennessee has Derrick Morgan and Brian Orakpo to rush the quarterback, but passing up the top player in the entire class would be foolish.

Pick change; previously Marlon Humphrey, CB

  4. Atlanta Falcons: Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee
It was a bit odd to see the Falcons eschew their pass rush in the 2016 NFL Draft, especially when Shaq Lawson dropped to them at No. 17. I’m sure that after another year of struggling to get to the quarterback, they’ll be desperate for an edge rusher in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Derek Barnett had a whopping 10 sacks as a freshman and recorded that same number in his second season at Tennessee. He could help Atlanta’s meager pass rush.

  5. San Diego Chargers: Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama
Selecting Laremy Tunsil at No. 3 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft would’ve made a ton of sense, but Tunsil’s draft stock took a hit when his bong video was released. Perhaps the Chargers will look to address the left tackle spot with another potentially troubled blocker.

I dropped Cam Robinson to the second round of this 2017 NFL Mock Draft over the summer in the wake of his arrest, but he’s been cleared, and it sounds like most teams will consider him, though we’ll have to see how he interviews.

Pick change; previously Jabrill Peppers, S/LB/CB

  6. Buffalo Bills: Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama
I’m not sure if Rex Ryan will be around to influence this pick, but he loves talented cornerbacks. So, even though Buffalo already has Stephon Gilmore and Ronald Darby, Marlon Humphrey would be in play, as he’s the top prospect on the board, and passing up on him could prove to be costly.

Pick change; previously Mike Williams, WR

  7. New Orleans Saints: Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
Mark Ingram has enjoyed some good moments, but it’s safe to say that overall, he has been a disappointment as a first-round pick. Ingram is a fine starter, but you can’t compare him to Leonard Fournette. The LSU prospect would’ve been considered the top running back prospect since Adrian Peterson if it weren’t for Todd Gurley, and I’d have to think Sean Payton would love having him in his offense to take pressure off Drew Brees.

Pick change; previously Myles Garrett, DE

  8. Indianapolis Colts: Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State
This is an easy, slam-dunk pick. The Colts almost have to draft Dalvin Cook. Sure, they have offensive line and defensive issues, but Cook is the best player on the board and also fills a huge need. The Colts have nothing beyond Frank Gore, whose expiration date is quickly approaching.

And yes, there’s a strong possibility that two running backs are chosen in the top 10. Cook and Leonard Fournette are that good. In fact, if you check out the NFL Draft Rumor Mill, you’ll see that some scouts believe that Cook may pass Fournette in the 2017 NFL Draft pecking order, despite how highly Fournette is regarded.

  9. Dallas Cowboys: Jalen Tabor, CB, Florida
The Cowboys blew it by passing on Jalen Ramsey. Apparently, cornerbacks who can erase half the field – per their words when describing Ramsey – aren’t valuable commodities. Perhaps the front office will prevent Jerry Jones from making irresponsible decisions next spring.

Pick change; previously Adoree Jackson, CB

  10. Cleveland Browns: Jamal Adams, S, LSU
Is Jordan Poyer really starting for the Browns? I recall the Eagles waiving him. This is just sad. Cleveland needs help at almost every position, and replacing Tashaun Gipson is something it needs to do eventually.

Pick change; previously Leonard Fournette, RB

  11. Tennessee Titans: Adoree Jackson, CB/WR/KR, USC
The Titans will score plenty of points this season, so they almost have to select the top two defensive players available with their pair of draft picks. The cornerback spot desperately needs to be addressed, and Tennessee will be doing that here with the top prospect on the board.

Pick change; previously Jamal Adams, S

  12. Jacksonville Jaguars: Charles Harris, DE/OLB, Missouri
The Jaguars made some solid changes to their linebacking corps and secondary this past offseason, but they could stand to add another pass-rusher, especially given that they’re now in a division with Andrew Luck, Marcus Mariota and Brock Osweiler.

Pick change; previously Cam Robinson, OT

  13. Miami Dolphins: Desmond King, CB, Iowa
Another team with a dire need for a cornerback happens to be Miami; the team has a very strong defensive line, but happens to be very weak on the back end. Fortunately for the Dolphins, there are numerous talented cornerbacks projected to be in this class, so they’ll be able to improve this area.

Pick change; previously Jalen Tabor, CB

  14. Chicago Bears: Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame
Mike McGlinchey has become the No. 2 projected offensive tackle in this class, and I’d have to imagine that the Bears would happily scoop him up at No. 15 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. The interior of Chicago’s line is stout, but the two tackles are horrible, as Whitney Mercilus and Jadeveon Clowney learned in the season opener.

Pick change; previously Desmond King, CB

  15. Washington Redskins: Jonathan Allen, DE/DT, Alabama
The Redskins’ offense made numerous mental errors against the Steelers on Monday night, but those can be fixed. The defensive line being pushed around so easily by Pittsburgh’s offensive front cannot. The Redskins need to find some help in the trenches to keep 33-year-old running backs from looking like Jim Brown.

Pick change; previously Ethan Pocic, C/G

  16. New York Jets: Brad Kaaya, QB, Miami
The Jets don’t have a long-term answer at quarterback. Christian Hackenberg was just chosen in the second round, but he was so horrible at practice that Todd Bowles kept him out of the first two preseason games. Everyone else quickly learned why when Hackenberg self-destructed in the preseason finale. If the Jets have the opportunity to select a potential franchise quarterback, they have to do it.
