*** 2015 NFL Mock Draft (1 round) updated May 15. This NFL Mock Draft will be updated at least once per week (Tuesday afternoons and other times for important events.). Check out old versions of this 2015 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock draft section. Follow @walterfootball for NFL Draft updates. ***

  1. New York Jets: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
Many Jet fans may complain about this mock being unrealistic because it has their team at No. 1 overall, but that would completely ignore the fact that Houston went from a divisional winner to owner of the worst record in the league. New York has very little talent on its roster, and it only made things worse by bringing two terrible characters for the locker room to be the team’s new starting quarterback and running back. The former Eagle and Chris Johnson will poison the Jets, who will be atrocious by the end of the 2014 season.

It’s a close call between Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston, but the former has a slight edge right now. With most things being equal, Mariota is clean off the field. Baseball will hurt Winston a bit as well. NFL personnel might be worried that Winston will have interests elsewhere.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

  2. Oakland Raiders: Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State
TRADE! It may seem ridiculous to predict a deal 12 months prior to the draft – or 11 months if Roger Goodell is merciful – but there’s little doubt that Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston are going one and two atop the 2015 NFL Draft. Much like the Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin class, some team will give up a boatload of selections to take Winston, and one such team could be the Raiders, who will be interested in a franchise signal-caller if they’re drafting in the top 10. Having such a high selection meant that Derek Carr wasn’t very good, and if that’s the case, a new front office could be in charge. New regimes mean new quarterbacks.

Winston was the No. 1 pick in a previous update, but I’ve moved Marcus Mariota ahead because he’s clean off the field. Also, Winston has a slow release that he needs to fix.

  3. Cleveland Browns: Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford
The Browns were rumored to be interested in Jake Matthews and Greg Robinson, as they wanted to take a right tackle to move Mitchell Schwartz over to left guard. It’s an option they could explore in the 2015 NFL Draft, which will also feature a loaded tackle class. Andrus Peat and Cedric Ogbuhei are both potential top-five selections.

  4. Cleveland Browns: Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
It’s crazy that Cleveland might have two top-five selections. If so, perhaps the Browns will use one of those picks on the top-rated receiver. They almost have to after trolling the fans in the 2014 NFL Draft. How could they draft a potential franchise quarterback and give him nothing to work with? That was ridiculous.

  5. Dallas Cowboys: Randy Gregory, DE, Nebraska
Jeremy Mincey is expected to play a big role in Dallas’ defense this year. Think about that for a second. The Cowboys added Demarcus Lawrence in the second round of this past draft, but they’ll need to add another pass-rusher soon with Anthony Spencer due to hit free agency again in March.

  6. Jacksonville Jaguars: Cedric Ogbuhei, OT, Texas A&M
The Jaguars moved down from No. 6 to No. 2, and acquired a second-round choice, plus first-round picks in 2016 and 2017 in the process. I doubt David Caldwell would be that savvy in real life, but it’s the same package the Rams received for Robert Griffin.

Jacksonville was linked to Jake Matthews throughout the draft process. Perhaps Caldwell will take another A&M tackle. We know that he values the right tackle position, so it’s definitely a possibility.

  7. Washington Redskins: Leonard Williams, DE/DT, USC
I mocked Stephon Tuitt to the Redskins atop the second round during several updates, so they’d obviously consider Leonard Williams, who would really help them get a push up front. Jason Hatcher was signed this offseason, but he’ll be 33 right after the 2015 NFL Draft, so a long-term solution will be needed, especially with Jarvis Jenkins hitting free agency in the spring.

  8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor
The Buccaneers would have considered picking Johnny Manziel or moving down for Derek Carr had Mike Evans not been on the board at No. 7. Perhaps they’ll land a potential franchise quarterback around that spot a year later.

  9. New York Giants: Shilique Calhoun, DE, Michigan State
Damontre Moore will have a big role this year. If he doesn’t come through, the Giants will focus on finding a new pass-rusher the following spring. A defensive end might actually be an option regardless, actually, considering New York’s draft strategy.

  10. Miami Dolphins: Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
The Dolphins didn’t trust Lamar Miller as an every-down player, so they signed Knowshon Moreno to be their new starter. Moreno was only brought on for one year, however. Miami will need a long-term option at running back, and it’s fortunate that the 2015 NFL Draft will be packed with talented prospects at the position.

  11. Minnesota Vikings: Landon Collins, S, Alabama
It was surprising that the Vikings didn’t address the secondary until the sixth round. They’ll have to add defensive backs much earlier in 2015, perhaps beginning with the safety position.

  12. Carolina Panthers: Cameron Erving, OT, Florida State
The Panthers didn’t want to reach for a left tackle at No. 28. The problem is that they didn’t address the position at all. They won’t be reaching for Cameron Erving at this juncture. As it stands now, he could sneak into the top 10.

  13. Kansas City Chiefs: Nelson Agholor, WR, USC
The Chiefs shocked everyone by picking Dee Ford this past weekend. This would be a more expected selection. Marqise Lee was under consideration at No. 23, so perhaps Kansas City will obtain another USC wideout.

  14. Detroit Lions: P.J. Williams, CB, Florida State
Many projected the Lions to pick a cornerback at No. 10 overall, but that was never a possibility because the coaching staff liked some of their young corners. If those players don’t come through, however, Detroit could address the position 12 (or hopefully 11) months from now.

  15. Houston Texans: Ronald Darby, CB, Florida State
The Texans had many areas they wanted to fill in the 2014 NFL Draft, so they couldn’t get around to all of them. One need that went ignored was the cornerback position. Houston may opt to upgrade that spot earlier next spring.

  16. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State
The Steelers want to land a big receiver for Ben Roethlisberger. They took Martvais Bryant, but there’s a reason he dropped all the way to the fourth round. The 2015 receiver class is a promising one, so Pittsburgh may decide to go wideout in the first round if Bryant doesn’t do much.
