2015 NFL Mock Draft: Round 2

*** This mock draft will be updated at least once per week (Tuesday afternoons and other times for important events.). Check out old versions of this 2015 NFL Mock Draft in the archived mock draft section. Follow @walterfootball for updates. ***

  1. Tennessee Titans: T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh
It’s customary for teams to match their new quarterback with another upgrade on offense, whether that’s a receiver or a blocker. The Titans need the latter, as Michael Roos’ retirement has creating a big hole at right tackle.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

Pick change; previously Cameron Erving, OT/G/C

  2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Laken Tomlinson, G, Duke
As with the Titans, the Buccaneers need some help on the offensive line. They’d love to get their hands on a left tackle, but none who fit the range are available. That’s fine, because an upgrade at guard must be acquired as well.

Pick change; previously T.J. Clemmings, OT

  3. Oakland Raiders: Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State
I had Kevin White going to the Raiders at No. 4 overall in a previous 2015 NFL Mock Draft. The Raiders could still take him, but if they don’t, they’ll have to look for a receiver with their next pick, as Derek Carr needs a primary target.

Pick change; previously Denzel Perryman, LB

  4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Byron Jones, CB, Connecticut
The Jaguars signed Davon House to a terrible deal – check the NFL Free Agent Signing Grades page for details – but they still could use another cornerback, and Byron Jones has the size Gus Bradley likes.

And yes, Byron Jones could go this early. In fact, he could be chosen in the first round. He already had good tape, so he’s not just a workout warrior. The athleticism he displayed at the NFL Combine could push him into Thursday.

  5. New York Jets: Tevin Coleman, RB, Indiana
Chris Johnson is a free agent after the Jets declined his option. Not like he was going to play much anyway if he returned. The Jets may want to bring in another running back to go with Chris Ivory.

  6. Washington Redskins: Ronald Darby, CB, Florida State
The Redskins obviously need to make multiple upgrades to their woeful secondary. Help is needed at both corner and safety, so Washington can take the best player available at either position.

  7. Chicago Bears: P.J. Williams, CB, Florida State
The Bears need to keep adding defensive help, which includes an upgrade at the cornerback position. Tim Jennings regressed this past season, and he’ll turn 32 at some point during the 2015 campaign.

  8. New York Giants: Arie Kouandjio, G, Alabama
The Giants have to address their offensive line at some point. They could look for an upgrade up front with their first-round pick. If they don’t, they’ll have to target an upgrade at the right tackle or guard position on the second day to keep Eli Manning upright.

Pick change; previously Shaq Thompson, LB

  9. St. Louis Rams: Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Oklahoma
Brian Quick looked good prior to his injury, and both Kenny Britt and Stedman Bailey have had their moments in the second half of the season, but the Rams lack a true No. 1 receiver, which is something they can obtain with this selection.

  10. Atlanta Falcons: Maxx Williams, TE, Minnesota
The Falcons missed Tony Gonzalez this year. It would’ve helped Matt Ryan if he had a solid intermediate target to throw to. There’s some talk that Maxx Williams could be taken at the end of the first round, so this is a nice value choice.

Pick change; previously Stephone Anthony, ILB

  11. Cleveland Browns: Sammie Coates, WR, Auburn
The Browns’ big offensive signing this offseason was Brian Hartline. It’s safe to say that the team needs a big upgrade at the receiver position.

Pick change; previously Maxx Williams, TE

  12. New Orleans Saints: Denzel Perryman, LB, Miami
More upgrades for the Saints’ defense. The team needs a major boost in the middle of its stop unit, as Curtis Lofton was a major disappointment for them.

  13. Minnesota Vikings: Shaq Thompson, LB, Washington
Chad Greenway has regressed in the past couple of years, so it wouldn’t hurt the Vikings if they found another linebacker to go along with Anthony Barr and Gerald Hodges. Shaq Thompson is overrated; the media has him in the first round, but teams rate him as a second-round prospect. However, he fits the range at this pick.

Pick change; previously Kevin Johnson, CB

  14. San Francisco 49ers: Stephone Anthony, ILB, Clemson
The 49ers are both inept and unfortunate. They said goodbye to Patrick Willis and Chris Borland this offseason, and now they have to find another inside linebacker to go along with the injured NaVorro Bowman.

Pick change; previously Laken Tomlinson, G

  15. Miami Dolphins: Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest
The Dolphins cut Cortland Finnegan, who was a huge liability last year. Now, they really have nothing outside of Brent Grimes at the cornerback position, as the players they drafted back in 2013 (Will Davis, Jamar Taylor) haven’t developed. And besides, Grimes, 32 in July, will have to be replaced soon.

Pick change; previously Arie Kouandjio, G

  16. San Diego Chargers: Arik Armstead, DE/DT, Oregon
This is mostly a value pick, as the Chargers only need depth at the defensive end position right now. However, Arik Armstead, who could be a future starter, is an absolute steal in the middle of Round 2, as I had him going No. 29 in a previous update.

Pick change; previously Josue Matias, G

  17. Kansas City Chiefs: Benardrick McKinney, LB, Mississippi State
Here’s some much-needed help for the interior of Kansas City’s defense, which took a beating last year in the wake of all the injuries. The inside linebacker position must be addressed.

  18. Buffalo Bills: Paul Dawson, LB, TCU
The Bills lost a fantastic defensive play-maker when they shipped Kiko Alonso off to Philadelphia. They need a replacement in the midde of their defense.

Pick change; previously Devin Funchess, TE

  19. Houston Texans: Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami
The Texans have announced that they are parting ways with Andre Johnson, so they’ll need a No. 2 wideout across from DeAndre Hopkins. Phillip Dorsett has moved up an entire round after a tremendous Senior Bowl. He also looked good at the NFL Combine.

  20. Philadelphia Eagles: Jake Fisher, OT, Oregon
Another Oregon player for Chip Kelly. This one can replace Evan Mathis, who is on the trading block for some reason. Fisher could eventually move to tackle once Jason Peters retires.

Pick change; previously Brett Hundley, QB

  21. Cincinnati Bengals: Carl Davis, DT, Iowa
Domata Peko has not played well this year, so the Bengals may want to consider finding some help for the interior of their defensive line.

  22. Detroit Lions: Ameer Abdullah, RB, Nebraska
Reggie Bush was released last week – check out where he’s ranked in the 2015 NFL Free Agents Tracker – so the Lions will need to find someone to split the load with Joique Bell.

  23. Arizona Cardinals: Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
Marcus Peters was dismissed from the team this past season. The Cardinals have taken chances on troubled players before, so perhaps they’d give Peters a shot. Peters, who has top-15 talent, could fill in for the departed Antonio Cromartie.

  24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Alex Carter, CB, Stanford
Cortez Allen was so bad against the Colts that he was actually trending on Twitter. Brice McCain is gone. Ike Taylor, meanwhile, was miserable in his return from injury. The Steelers are in desperate need of help at the cornerback position, and they’re getting a prospect who fits their scheme well.

  25. Carolina Panthers: Nelson Agholor, WR, USC
The Panthers likely will select the top available player from the tackle or receiver position in the first few rounds. Those are their two big areas of need. They have to find someone to draw attention away from Kelvin Benjamin.

  26. Baltimore Ravens: Devin Funchess, TE, Michigan
The Ravens already lost Owen Daniels this offseason, and no one is sure if Dennis Pitta will be able to play this year, so the front office could be targeting a tight end early in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Pick change; previously Owamagbe Odighizuwa, DE/OLB

  27. Denver Broncos: Damarious Randall, S, Arizona State
The Broncos lost Rahim Moore to the Texans, so they could be interested in an early-round safety like Damarious Randall, who has seen his stock improve lately.

Pick change; previously Paul Dawson, ILB

  28. Dallas Cowboys: Mario Edwards, DE/DT, Florida State
Dallas’ defense was much better than anyone anticipated, but it was exposed during a stretch during the latter part of the season. There are still some weaknesses that need to be addressed – particularly in the interior of the defensive line, where Nick Hayden needs to be upgraded.

  29. Indianapolis Colts: Quinten Rollins, CB, Miami of Ohio
Greg Toler performed well in the playoffs, but the Colts could use a better No. 2 corner. Quinten Rollins is another player whose stock is rising.

  30. Green Bay Packers: Kwon Alexander, LB, LSU
There was utter outrage from Packer fans when I didn’t mock an inside linebacker to them in a recent update. The position will have to be addressed, as Clay Matthews playing there is just a temporary solution.

  31. Seattle Seahawks: Danielle Hunter, DE/OLB, LSU
The Seahawks were able to re-sign Cliff Avril to a 4-year deal back in December, but they could still add an edge rusher for the future, especially if they are able to obtain someone who fits their system so perfectly.

  32. New England Patriots: Josue Matias, G, Florida State
The Patriots have to improve their offensive line, especially the interior. Bill Belichick spent a selection last year on a Florida State blocker, so perhaps he’ll add another one.

Pick change; previously Tre Jackson, G
