  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse
The Jaguars have to spend a pick on a quarterback at some point. New general manager David Caldwell has sounded like a lunatic in his praise for Blaine Gabbert, but he must have a backup plan if/when Gabbert sucks again. Jacksonville has been linked to Ryan Nassib, who will work out for them this week. Check out the 2013 NFL Draft Prospect Meetings list here.

    Follow @walterfootball for updates.

Pick change; previously Menelik Watson, OT

  2. San Francisco 49ers: Margus Hunt, DE/DT, SMU
The 49ers’ defense looked lost defensively when Justin Smith got hurt last year. Unfortunately for San Francisco, Smith will be 34 several months following the 2013 NFL Draft, and he’ll also be entering his walk year. Injury insurance and an eventual replacement are needed.

  3. Philadelphia Eagles: Justin Pugh, OT/G, Syracuse
Teams that draft quarterbacks early usually use their next selection on an offensive complement. Think of Sam Bradford and Rodger Saffold, Matthew Stafford and Brandon Pettigrew, Andrew Luck and Coby Fleener, and so on.

The Eagles have to bolster the offensive line. Adding a tackle is key because Jason Peters may not be the same player coming off a torn Achilles. Even if he is, adding a right tackle and moving Todd Herremans inside makes a ton of sense.

Pick change; previously E.J. Manuel, QB

  4. Detroit Lions: Alex Okafor, DE/OLB, Texas
The Lions need defensive end help with Kyle Vanden Bosch getting cut and Cliff Avril entering free agency. They got a good look at Alex Okafor at the Senior Bowl, though he played for the other team.

Pick change; previously Justin Pugh, OT/G

  5. Cincinnati Bengals: Kyle Long, OT/G, Oregon
It was once considered a given that the Bengals would retain Andre Smith, but ProFootballTalk recently reported that Cincinnati is now expected to let Smith walk away and instead search for a cheaper replacement at right tackle in the 2013 NFL Draft.

  6. Arizona Cardinals: Menelik Watson, OT, Florida State
This is a pretty obvious selection. The Cardinals have pressing offensive line issues that they’ll absolutely need to resolve this offseason. If they want to keep Carson Palmer healthy, they’ll need to find multiple upgrades up front.

Pick change; previously Terron Armstead, OT

  7. New York Jets: Zach Ertz, TE, Stanford
The Jets need a replacement at tight end after losing Dustin Keller to the Dolphins. They reportedly love Zach Ertz, so they’ll take him if he’s available at this juncture.

  8. Tennessee Titans: Larry Warford, G, Kentucky
The Titans signed Andy Levitre, but Chance Warmack and Jonathan Cooper are still in play at No. 10 overall. If they’re not chosen, Larry Warford will be considered in Round 2. He’ll blast open huge holes for Chris Johnson, who won’t have to do much more dancing.

  9. Buffalo Bills: Robert Woods, WR, USC
General manager Buddy Nix, who is generally forthcoming about his offseason plans, told the media that he plans on drafting a franchise quarterback. He also said that he desperately wants a wide receiver across from Stevie Johnson. The Bills have shown lots of interest in Robert Woods.

Pick change; previously Ryan Nassib, QB

  10. Miami Dolphins: Robert Alford, CB, Southeastern Louisiana
Brent Grimes was signed, but cornerback is still a huge need for Miami. Counting on Grimes, who is coming off a torn Achilles, would be foolish, so the Dolphins could easily go after two corners relatively early in the 2013 NFL Draft.

  11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
Back-to-back picks on defensive linemen? As I mentioned, Tampa Bay’s defensive front is in shambles. Besides, I had to slot Bjoern Werner in somewhere. I removed him from the Giants’ pick, and I had trouble finding a spot for him. I’m sure someone will trade up for him in the beginning of the second round if he falls.

Pick change; previously Johnthan Banks, CB

  12. Carolina Panthers: Kawann Short, DT, Purdue
If the Panthers don’t land Sheldon Richardson at No. 14, they’ll definitely consider Kawann Short in the second round. After stubbornly passing on Fletcher Cox last year, Carolina has finally acknowledged that it has a big void at defensive tackle.

Pick change; previously Matt Elam, S

  13. San Diego Chargers: Terron Armstead, OT, Arkansas-Pine Bluff
This is probably the best the Chargers can hope for if they don’t move up for Lane Johnson. They desperately need a left tackle if they want to extend Philip Rivers’ career.

Pick change; previously Alex Okafor, DE/OLB

  14. St. Louis Rams: Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama
The Rams just lost Steven Jackson to the Falcons, so they’ll have to find another running back to compete with Daryl Richardson and Isaiah Pead. Eddie Lacy could fall on Draft Day because of his very poor workout.

  15. Dallas Cowboys: Eric Reid, S, LSU
The safety position was a major weak point for the Cowboys this past season after Barry Church tore his Achilles’ tendon. Gerald Sensabaugh’s release only magnified that need, though the team did recently sign Will Allen.

  16. Pittsburgh Steelers: Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU
The Steelers, as they always do, catch a falling prospect. Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette recently reported that the Steelers could be targeting an inside linebacker early in the 2013 NFL Draft. Kevin Minter may go at the end of the first round, so he’s a steal at this juncture.

  17. New York Giants: D.J. Hayden, CB, Houston
The Giants re-sign Aaron Ross, but they could still stand to use a mid-round pick on a cornerback after how poorly Corey Webster played last year. D.J. Hayden has first-round talent, but medical concerns could keep him in this range.

Pick change; previously Khaseem Greene, LB

  18. Chicago Bears: Arthur Brown, LB, Kansas State
I had Arthur Brown going to Chicago in the first round a couple of weeks ago, but I’m hearing he could fall a bit because of some injury concerns. The Bears have shown lots of interest in him, however, so they could move up a few spots in Round 2 to land the talented linebacker.

The Bears once had a strong group of linebackers, but Nick Roach just signed with the Raiders, while Brian Urlacher was told to hit the road because he wouldn’t accept $2 million for 2013. D.J. Williams was signed, and while he’s currently projected to replace Urlacher in the middle, he could ultimately move to strongside linebacker if Chicago can land someone as talented as Brown.

  19. Washington Redskins: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State
The Redskins signed E.J. Biggers and retained DeAngelo Hall, so they’re OK at cornerback for now. However, Biggers, Hall and Josh Wilson all have expiring contracts in March 2014. Long-term corner help is needed.

Pick change; previously Darius Slay, CB

  20. Minnesota Vikings: Manti Te’o, LB, Notre Dame
Manti Te’o had a miserable Combine. He ran a 4.82 40 and later blamed it on fatigue (as if the other players weren’t tired). He looked stiff in the drills. Worst of all, he drew that ridiculous press conference. Te’o handled himself well in front of the media, but the press conference itself was the major problem. No team wants to deal with the media circus that will come with acquiring Te’o.

The Vikings have done a ton of research on Te’o during this pre-draft process, so perhaps they’re planning to take him if he’s available in Round 2. He’d fill a big need at middle linebacker.

Pick change; previously Robert Woods, WR

  21. Cincinnati Bengals: Johnathan Franklin, RB, UCLA
BenJarvus Green-Ellis rushed for 100-plus yards in four of the five games prior to battling Pittsburgh, but that’s mostly just great blocking rather than the Law Firm improving. One of the Bengals’ top priorities is finding a capable running back. Johnathan Franklin, who is getting a ton of positive buzz right now, would complement Green-Ellis very well.

  22. Cleveland Browns: Damontre Moore, DE/OLB, Texas A&M
The Browns have this pick from the trade in Round 1 that I referenced on Twitter (@walterfootball).

Michael Lombardi loves having tons of pass-rushers, so he could be looking for one early in the 2013 NFL Draft. Jabaal Sheard could be traded because Cleveland doesn’t view him as a natural fit in its new 3-4. Choosing scheme over personnel? Not something that has worked well for many regimes…

Pick change; previously Kawann Short, DT (Dolphins)

  23. Green Bay Packers: John Jenkins, NT, Georgia
John Jenkins doesn’t fill an immediate need, but he would help with depth right away. More importantly, he’d provide the Packers with a successor for Ryan Pickett and insurance just in case they can’t retain B.J. Raji, who will be a free agent next spring.

  24. Seattle Seahawks: Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana Tech
The Seahawks traded for Percy Harvin, but they could be in the market for another wideout because Sidney Rice is so unreliable. They’re reportedly heavily interested in Quinton Patton.

  25. Houston Texans: Jon Bostic, ILB, Florida
There’s a ton of uncertainty at inside linebacker for Houston. Brian Cushing is coming off a torn ACL, Bradie James is an impending free agent who isn’t very good, while neither Tim Dobbins nor Darryl Sharpton is worthy of starting.

Pick change; previously Jordan Reed, TE

  26. Denver Broncos: Jesse Williams, NT, Alabama
The Broncos signed Terrance Knighton, but that doesn’t mean they won’t add another interior lineman. Jack Del Rio loves having multiple massive defensive tackles. Think back to his days in Jacksonville with Marcus Stroud and John Henderson.

Pick change; previously Johnathan Hankins, NT

  27. New England Patriots: Markus Wheaton, WR, Oregon State
It’s no secret the Patriots need receiving help in the wake of losing both Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd this offseason. Markus Wheaton fits exactly what Bill Belichick looks for in a receiver, and this is the right draft range for him.

  28. Atlanta Falcons: Cornelius Washington, DE/OLB, Georgia
The overpaid Ray Edwards was cut during the season. John Abraham was also released recently. Defensive end will be a priority early in the 2013 NFL Draft, and the Falcons may even double dip at the position in the first few rounds.

  29. San Francisco 49ers: Johnathan Hankins, NT, Ohio State
The most frustrating part about creating this year’s mock draft is finding a spot for all of the nose tackles. There are just too many, and there aren’t enough teams that need them. The 49ers, as an example, don’t value the position highly, but I think they’ll see the value in obtaining someone like Johnathan Hankins at the end of Round 2.

Pick change; previously Jesse Williams, NT

  30. Baltimore Ravens: D.J. Swearinger, S, South Carolina
Ed Reed signed with the Texans. Michael Huff came in to replace him, but the Ravens still have one more hole at safety because of the Bernard Pollard release.
