2025 NFL Signings Graded by Team: New Orleans Saints

This page lists all the 2025 NFL Signings for the New Orleans Saints. I’ve listed all of the NFL Free Agent Signing Grades here, which included the Signings. Because I’ve begun posting polls for the Signings, I thought it would make sense to list just the NFL Signings here, so archiving the voting would be easier.

March 2025 – Signings

Saints sign WR Brandin Cooks (2 years, $13 million): D Grade
signed on 3/21/2025

Brandin Cooks has seemingly played in half of the NFL cities, but he finally returns home. The Saints originally drafted him, and now he’ll play for them again.

This looks like a terrible signing. Cooks is, well, cooked, so there’s no reason to give him a multi-year contract worth more than a couple of million per season. And, as e-mailer Felton S. pointed out, the Saints could have re-signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling for less, which would look more appealing because Valdes-Scantling displayed a great rapport with Derek Carr last year.

Saints sign CB Isaac Yiadom (3 years, $9 million): C+ Grade
signed on 3/13/2025

Isaac Yiadom remarkably has been on six different teams in the past six seasons. He’ll have a chance to buck that trend with this 3-year deal. Yiadom is a mediocre backup cornerback who just turned 29, so the Saints probably could have found a better option for $3 million per season.

Saints sign S Justin Reid (3 years, $31.5 million): A+ Grade
signed on 3/11/2025

More Saints money laundering? Where are they getting this money from? I thought they were billions over the cap!

This doesn’t actually qualify as money laundering because Justin Reid is a great player. He’s excellent when it comes to both coverage and run support. He’s also relatively young (28), so he’ll likely play at the top of his game throughout the duration of this contract. This is an outstanding signing.

Saints re-sign TE Juwan Johnson (3 years, $34.5 million): D- Grade
signed on 3/11/2025

Between this deal and the Chase Young contract, I’m convinced the Saints are laundering money. If they begin opening up riverboat casinos, we’ll know for sure.

I don’t understand this signing. Juwan Johnson is athletic and has enjoyed some big games, but he’s as mediocre as they come. There’s no reason to give him this much money. I came close to issuing a Millen grade, but Johnson possesses upside and could improve.

Saints re-sign DE Chase Young (3 years, $51 million): C Grade
signed on 3/10/2025

Here’s another Mandela Effect signing. I was under the impression that after a strong start to his career, Chase Young had nothing but mediocre outputs as a journeyman, thanks to numerous injuries. Is this wrong? Has he been a superstar this entire time? Did I really eat Jiffy peanut butter as a kid?

I don’t understand this contract. Well, I do, sort of. Young is a very talented player, and he’s still young (26). However, he’s coming off an average season, which has become the norm for him, as he’s never recovered from his multiple injuries. Perhaps Young will eventually live up to his potential, but it seems more likely that he’ll continue to be a mediocre producer. This contract is a major risk by a Saints team that already has some major financial issues.
