2025 NFL Signings Graded by Team: San Francisco 49ers

Change Team:

This page lists all the 2025 NFL Signings for the San Francisco 49ers. I’ve listed all of the NFL Free Agent Signing Grades here, which included the Signings. Because I’ve begun posting polls for the Signings, I thought it would make sense to list just the NFL Signings here, so archiving the voting would be easier.

April 2025 – Signings

49ers extend TE George Kittle (4 years, $76.4 million): B Grade
signed on 4/29/2025

I have mixed feelings about this extension. On one hand, George Kittle is still one of the top tight ends in the NFL. He deserves a big deal, and this contract will allow the 49ers to have more immediate cap space, so it makes sense to re-sign him. On the other hand, Kittle turns 32 in October, so the argument can be made that the 49ers are paying on past production.

I’m not crazy about this extension, but I don’t hate it either. It makes sense enough to be graded a “B,” but not anything higher.

March 2025 – Signings

49ers re-sign FB Kyle Juszczyk (2 years, $8 million): A Grade
signed on 3/15/2025

The 49ers have lost a ton of personnel this offseason, so it was crucial for them to retain at least someone. Kyle Juszczyk is a fullback, but he does everything for San Francisco. He’s 34, but he hasn’t shown any signs of regressing. It’s impossible to hate this signing, as it’s a low-risk move that gives the 49ers some stability.

49ers sign QB Mac Jones (2 years, $7 million): A Grade
signed on 3/12/2025

There were rumors ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft that the 49ers planned on using their No. 3 overall pick on Mac Jones. They opted for Trey Lance instead. Lance turned into a bust, but after a solid rookie campaign, Jones did as well. Jones, however, did well in relief of Trevor Lawrence last year.

I like that the 49ers are getting Jones at this crazy discount. This is a cheap price for a backup quarterback with some promise. Perhaps Kyle Shanahan can get Jones to play up to his potential after all.

49ers sign WR Demarcus Robinson (2 years, $9.5 million): B+ Grade
signed on 3/11/2025

It’s not a surprise that the 49ers signed a veteran receiver. They traded Deebo Samuel and won’t have Brandon Aiyuk for a chunk of the season because of an injury. With Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall serving as the top two options at the position, Robinson will provide a solid tertiary downfield target. He was a solid threat for Matthew Stafford, particularly in the end zone, so Brock Purdy should utilize him well until Aiyuk is ready to play. This is a solid signing, especially when considering that the 49ers are taking a player from one of their primary rivals.

49ers sign TE Luke Farrell (3 years, $20.3 million): D Grade
signed on 3/10/2025

I hate these contracts. Blocking tight ends are a dime a dozen. Farrell is a good blocker, particularly in pass protection, but players like this can be found everywhere. Yet, they continue to be overpaid. And I’ll continue to give the teams signing them poor grades.
